Open House Sunday IX

Two Tudor Homes
built 1938
This house looks to have had just about everything redone.
including a big addition and a totally redone kitchen
Unfortunately this reno does not enhance the vintage character of the home.
I'm not a fan of slate in this kitchen.
This room added on.
I prefer porcelain tile in vintage homes.
Here we still have the vintage tile but they've put in a pebble floor. Me not like.
(see listing here)

built 1938
That's some crazy brick.
I like that red door. No slate here...good ol' porcelain and it looks great with granite.
I love this wall of built ins in the breakfast nook. I wish my house had one.
I also like this bank of windows that creates a seating area in the master bedroom.

Both houses are little treasures, but that poor first house..."me no like" the kitchen or bath. What were they thinking? Hopefully, the new owners will bring it back to an updated appropriate look.

The first house has potential...could use some staging and the kitchen doesn't in my humble opinion have enough natural light to go the black cabinet route, though I love black cabinetry you have to have good light.....the second home is charming, looks like it could use a little updating in the bathrooms but it looks like a happy house! Stop by for my new and amazing giveaway, a Kilim bench!

The first house had an owner who loved dark and moody...so not me. I not like either. And the second house had some good points...but not my stye either with lots of dark colors it felt choppy.
Have a good sunday Nita~

I love the second house...crazy brick and all! The deco-style archways are fabulous!

I would slit my wrists in the first house's kitchen if I had to cook one single meal in there....not a fan of the dark....especially in a kitchen....

I look forward to your Sunday Open Houses, Nita!

I like the second house, crazy brick and all. I think that someone really knew what they were doing as far as decorating and I bet it wouldn't be nearly as attractive without the furnishings...but I like it, even though it's painted gold (I'm not a fan of gold walls.
I adore their landscaping. Very pretty :)

Those are both beautiful homes, but the first one has not been updated in a style that enhances the homes vintage appeal. I completely agree with you, slate is not what it needed, a vintage looking tile would have suited it so much better.
The second house kind of reminds me of mine, it is so sweet.
I love that you do this series, it is so wonderful to see the interiors of old homes.
Hugs, Cindy
