Old New House - The Winner

My new sponsor...
kindly offered up a $100 Gift Certificate to their online shop as prize
to one of my readers.
One of my favorite things in their shop is the mini industrial cart.
Don't you have some knick knacks that need to move around on this?
I think it's so cute used as a holder for remotes or perhaps your iphone.

I so appreciate all of you who entered over the last two weeks.
Unfortunately, there can only be one winner.

Without further ado that winner as selected by the illustrious True Random Number Generator is....
Number 68

Ricki Treleaven

or how she is known on her blog....Ricki Jill

I love her blog...she's a very good painter too, check her out!

Congrats, Ricki Jill!!!!!

I've got another giveaway coming up right away.

Thanks to all for making this introduction to Old New House a success!

Mod Mix Monday #123

File This!
I admire card catalogs every time I see one in an interior.
This one is especially nice.
It's low and small.
The mirror on top adds a bit of glam to it and it's styled beautifully.

This had me thinking could I find one on Craigslist for me?
I did find one locally for $175 but it wasn't as good as this.

So I decided to check out other cities.
I started with Dallas, then St. Louis, San Antonio...each had some sort of card catalog but none
I really got excited about.

On a whim...I checked out San Francisco.
I don't know why? I've never been there and I have no plans to go but look what I found immediately.
It's almost the exact catalog!
You can buy it for $300 - here.

If you run and get it, let me know.

Lots of good Halloween stuff in last week's Mod Mix Monday.

I bet you all think I've given up on decorating for Halloween.

Nope...I have several crafts in the works but working and painting my living/dining room
have certainly gotten in the way.

I also painted a dog portrait recently...I'll show later in the week.

Anyway...Halloween is coming here, I swear...I'm just behind.

Here's what I loved from last week's Mod Mix Monday.
Patti of Old Things New made the fanciest, farm, country,
junky cloches from chicken wire and a few odds and ends
she had around the house. Notice the finials.
These are the best chicken wire cloches I've ever seen.
Amy of The Blissful Bee painted some lamps and made them super special.
I just love the way they look in her bedroom.
Love that cat too.
Amber of Junkaholics Unanimous shared her Fall garden full of fancy pumpkins.
Oh... I wish I could afford to sprinkle pumpkins like this all through my yard!
This is just the best!
Therena of Little Bit of Paint made a cute little Fall banner to compliment her fall display on her buffet.
Notice those cute burlap pumpkins too.
I'm in awe of Melinda's Halloween vignette at Refeathered Roost.
It has so many wonderful elements starting with that old typewriter.
Notice the round lantern too. Love the Raven banner.
Tracy of Made from Pinterest.net turned out this super cute Halloween project.
It just takes bell jar lids, paint and washi tape.
Isn't it darling?
Kelsey Elaine at White Cottage Boutique created this amazing refurbish.
This piece was nothing to look at till it was painted and new knobs added.
Isn't it sweet?

This is still happening. I'll announce the winner tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15th.

Old New House - Open House Sunday

Dallas Cottage
built 1924
Perfect little cottage to show on a gorgeous fall day!
I can just imagine this place with pumpkins scattered about, can't you?
But before I show the house....

I want to announce a change to the giveaway at Old New House!
Melissa of Old New House wrote me the other day and said,
"Let's extend the giveaway and up the prize!"

They are now giving away a $100 gift certificate to use at
there is no need to spend any money of your own, if you win.
Isn't that more fun?

It's all because they are celebrating their Grand Opening of their free standing store on the web.
They've been selling on Etsy for several years.
Now if you've entered already, you don't need to do a thing, you are already entered.
But you can get an additional entry by going to Old New House and registering on their site.
They will then be able to send you updates when new products are added.

They've got stuff like this....

authentic country sign
Wow! This is super great. I light up eye chart. Isnt' this cool?
Lots of handmade pillows from antique rugs.
A little industrial is always good.

Five Ways to Win

Be sure to register on Old New House and come back to my original post about them and tell me you did.

Is that confusing? I hope not too much.

back to today's house....
Yes, it needs a few pumpkins in the yard to really sell it.
Love this front side porch very much.
Living room is nice - light and bright. I'd remove that ceiling fan.
An office is always a good thing in a house. Look at all that perfect bright white trim!
Oh...I wish for the day that mine looks like this.
The dappled light in this house is wonderful.
Very nice kitchen. I wish the cabinets on the sink side went to the ceiling.
I'd change that if I bought this house.
Gleaming stainless fridge. This one looks especially shiny.
I know some think stainless looks too cold...but I do love all that silver...but then I love silver.
The only thing this kitchen really needs immediately...do you spot it?
A backsplash! A white subway tile backsplash would make this kitchen gorgeous.
To the new owners: Do this immediately!
Cute little nook.
Nice man room.
Does everyone that lives in Texas have a metal star on the wall somewhere in their house?
I think they do.
I love this bath. Yes, perhaps the toile is over the top...but I'm digging it.
Practical baby's room...oh...is that two cribs?
Bless their hearts. My friend KC is raising twins and it's hard.
They've opened up the attic and made it into a master suite.
The cat is probably up here hiding from the twins.
I'm loving this bathroom. Especially that mirror.
Not crazy about the shower curtain but that is easily fixed.
Funny to see a phone on the wall in this spot, isn't it?
Nice little backyard. Nothing fancy but very pretty...wish I had that stone patio myself.
Lots of nice shade trees and big containers...I do love that.
 See the full listing here.

Sorry, I am late getting this up.
I built store fixtures on Friday at the store and it just about killed me.
I slept for 18 hours afterwards!
Well, I'd been going on very little sleep for three days and then went shopping with my Mom afterwards when I should have just gone home.

Then yesterday I went to see my friend KC's twins (I'll show photos of them soon)
Mostly cause you have to see how she dresses them.

I wish I had their clothes.

Then after that I went to Jo-Ann's and stocked up on all the stuff I need to get my
Halloween crafting on.

You'll be seeing that this week.

But it's hard to get anything done...if you sleep for 18 hours...it really gets you off your schedule.

See you tomorrow for Mod Mix Monday!

Introducing Old New House

New Sponsor

I've got a new sponsor on MVL!
One sure to fulfill some of your Mod Vintage dreams!
You'll see an ad for Old New House over there on my right column under sponsors.

Old New House began in 2010 on Etsy but they've recently started a stand alone online store.

This is a family run business by Melissa and Dave.

With great care and attention to the finest of details.

Melissa and Dave hand select every single antique and vintage piece that you see in their shop.
They also design and craft every new original piece completely in house, and with
their own hands, in New York.

Read their story here.
Out of their New York location this couple handpicks and creates one of a kind, vintage inspired items
for their store.
I've selected below some of my favorites from their current collection.
Handmade pillows made from vintage persian rugs.
Notice the wonderful mid century chairs also for sale in their shop.
Very nice...the real deal...vintage mannequins.
Notice that industrial cart?....they make their very own in miniature.
They have super good antique maps.
The real deal vintage eye charts.
I'm partial to this lamp. It would fit right in my house.
A quirky vintage eye chart...notice it says "No Smoking" over and over and over?
Here is one of their miniature industrial carts.
This one perfect for hauling around your ereader or ipad.
I can't resist this shabby one..see the little dachshund wrapping paper?
Look at the real working details!
What a great place to rest your iphone!

Since this Old New House is a new sponsor...
of course we are doing a giveaway.
