Winner will be announced Saturday, February 14.

Let's see...what is up with me?
Well, Violet is not well. She had a seizure about a week and a half ago.
The vet said to watch her and see how she is.
She has been very good since then.
But she had another tonight.
She is 14 now.
(very very scary and makes me so upset)
Her sister Daisy died three weeks ago. All of her illness started with a seizure back last summer.
Blood tests showed she was in kidney failure.
But tests on Violet came back saying she is in good health.

So that leads the vet to think it's neurological.
He said if she has one more seizure, we'll put her on meds for it.

I'm just wondering...have any of your dogs developed seizures later in life?

On to better news...
Last Sunday I went on a Craigslist run after work and snagged this wicker settee for the front porch.
This is it just plopped down as is.
It needs a paint job but is in good shape other than that.

I've been wanting a wicker loveseat for the front porch for a long time but new
weather proof ones were out of my price range. Cause I'm like trying to spend no money.
I should be spending no money.

They were asking $45 for it and I got it for $35...which makes me very happy.
(I really should not have been even spending $35)
I already have a cushion for it and pillows.
I just need to paint it.
My porch is totally covered so it not being weather proof is ok.
No rain or snow gets in here.
The guy that sold it to me was super nice and met me half way between his place and mine.
Hi! David!
(he said he'd start reading my blog)
It was a great Craigslist experience.
Remember that scary one I had?
So until I can paint this thing I went ahead and put the cushion on it and pillows.
I won't show until I've painted and got plants out for spring.
Now I keep driving by my house and admiring how welcoming it looks with this wicker
loveseat on it. I had an iron one before and I really liked it but it wasn't nearly as inviting.
See? That is my iron one. I had way too much iron going on.
I don't know what I was thinking when I kept buying all these matching things!
The iron settee will show up somewhere else in the yard this spring.
I'm so ready for spring...aren't you?
I searched through my Pinterest files looking for wicker ideas.
I'm trying to decide what color to paint it.
I've loved that photo above with that old wicker for a long time.
I may just give it another coat of black paint.
Or I might go the same color as the trim on my house only a couple of shades darker.
My cushion is similar to that color above.
I have to say dark dark brown looks pretty perfect and that is what I'm leaning toward.
I love those huge urns...tonight I saw a similar one for a really great price.
Too bad I'm too poor to buy anything...especially with Violet being ill.
So it most likely will not come home with me.
 I love that porch above.

All of these photos came from my Pinterest board... Patio Wicker.

Don't forget to go by and vote for me!

Vintage Wicker Headboards

Remember these vintage wicker headboards from the seventies?
I had one as a teenager. That one above to be exact.
My Mom brought it to me last summer to use in my guest room.
They came in a natural color when you bought them.
I painted mine white while I was still in high school.
But they are even better when painted a luscious color.

I saw a couple of these on Craigslist last fall.
They wanted like $25 for each.
I wanted them but I didn't need them...so I didn't go get them.
Someone got a great deal.
I wonder what color they ended up?
I really do love them in turquoise!
 via
They are just right for a little girl's room.
 via
Stunning in red.
 via
This one  reminds me of a peacock.
 via
You can never go wrong with white.
 via
Most of these probably only came in a double size.
Go ahead and use a double size headboard if you have a queen bed.
A queen is only 6 inches wider.
That means three inches on each side wider than a double size headboard.
 via
My own headboard on my personal bed is a vintage wrought iron.
A double bed sized headboard looks just fine with my queen sized mattress.
Really it does so don't let having a queen size bed discourage you from buying a double size headboard.

They work well in a bohemian chic room.

So I've wondering why isn't anyone making new ones like these vintage ones?

Well, Land of Nod is -
This one is new from Land of Nod.
This whole room set up looks straight out of "Alice in Wonderland".
Their peacock shaped one is really nice.

My original one came Pier 1.
I wondered why Pier 1 doesn't do these again?

They are so fabulous aren't they?

So work is going well.
I'm meeting lots of nice people.

I finished my cabinet I was painting.

It turned out nice.

I'll take a photo the next time I'm home and have the right light.

I painted this in the living room and I had stuff everywhere while doing it.

I've vowed to myself not to tear up the living room again for a long long time.

Of course next on the list is to paint is the dining room which will involve me moving furniture
into the living room while I paint but maybe that won't be so bad.

I always think its not going to be too bad or take very long.

And it always turns out to be worse than I thought and take longer than I imagined.

Photos to come of furniture from the store soon.

I'm just not comfortable yet taking random photos of the merchandise.

But I'm sure I will that will change.

Easy Outdoor Chandelier

Yes, easiest outdoor chandelier....ever!
A wire birdcage becomes the perfect outdoor chandelier for my back deck.
It hangs in my redbud tree that grows up through my deck.
Chippy birdcage and led outdoor candles.
The fact that the led candles are remote controlled is even better.
A litte push of a button on my remote and all candles come on.
In other news....Franklin took over my new chair.
I would have never chosen a yellow chair for my deck but it was a bargain so yellow it had to be.
But I'm kind of loving the yellow color out there.

Just to let you know...
This weekend, all Pier 1's will give you an additional 10% off of all clearance items.

Of course I have a little pile of things I am planning on buying which may or
may not include a cushion or pillow for this chair.

I'm sure Franklin would appreciate it!

Late Summer

Special Finds and Friends
Fall is quickly approaching and I realized I hadn't shown the table decor I've been enjoying this past month in my dining room.
Of course once I set out to take photos...all I got were cloudy days to photograph.
So these photos are not as clear as I would have hoped.
The white lanterns inspired this grouping.
A special friend surprised me with them last month when we met for lunch.
Belinda
Belinda lives in Edmond, Oklahoma and we became friends through emails.
She saw these lanterns and just knew they were for me.
I was surprised and thrilled to get them.
I knew they'd end up in a summer vignette.
Belinda doesn't have a blog but she's a great pinner.
You can follow her Pinterest boards - here.
She finds the best inspiration.
So once I had the lanterns I had to come up with things to put with them.
That includes an old cut work white linen table cloth I've had forever.
I also got out pearl handled steak knives that were once my great grandmother's.
I guess I should have polished them...hmmmm.
I was inspired to get out my white china which I haven't had out in ages.
It's Johnson Brother's Richmond White.
My Mom used to buy it for me for every birthday and holiday.
Unfortunately, they discontinued it and now it's super expensive to find the missing pieces I need.
I have 12 place settings but I need serving pieces. No tragedy it mixes well with other china.
The grey wicker tray basket came from Hobby Lobby found on clearance for $20.
I was happy to find it and imagine it will show up in fall decorating later.

Have a fantastic Saturday!
