Open House Sunday

Cute Dutch Colonial
built 1924
I've always had a fondness for Dutch Colonials.
I grew up across the street from one. I always thought it a pretty style of house.
This one is very traditional on the outside but lots of fun on the inside.
You had me at Barbie Doll painting over the fireplace...Dutch Colonial.
This house is decorated in a very lively way.
How about that chandelier?
I like the large white pedestal table that divides this big room and gives the feeling of a middle foyer.
Great use of space.
Love the dark gray walls in the dining room.
I'd ditch the rug and table cloth but I like all else.
Kitchen has sunny yellow and orange backsplash with super nice appliances.
I would never pick that backsplash but it's really quite nice...goes with the decor of this home.
I like the overhead light too.
Very cute breakfast nook keeps the sunny theme.
Nice use of mid century furniture.
This room is boring compared to the rest of the house but I'm sure is good to watch movies in.
One of three bathrooms. This one modern.
Kind of bland but I like the light fixtures.
Of course I love this one.
This one full of white subway tile is quite spa like.
Only bedroom shown in the listing. It does the job but could be more interesting.
Cute little patio and garden path leading to the garage/garden building which continues the dutch colonial theme.
Nice big yard.

How cute, and I love the little matching garden shed. I love the homeowners' style!

Whoa!
I was all set to dislike this house.
I was sure it would be filled with rose patterns and country...not that there's anything worng with that, just not my style.
But wow! I LOVE this. Totally.
Just goes to show, so many times it's more about the decor than the actual house. Yep, love it.

I thought it was odd that the front door opens right to the fireplace. Is that common in a Dutch Colonial?

My love to the weenies.

No, that is not normal but I have been in several houses of this age that have that going on. Usually they are bungalows. It is very odd to walk in to see the fireplace and is definitely a design problem. I don't know what the reasoning was for having the fireplace in that spot.

Wow, the outside is just perfect. I would change a few things inside if it were mine, though...
