Shabby Apple Giveaway

Inspired by Mad Men
I love the show Mad Men.
I recently watched all the episodes pretty much back to back on Netflix.
A lot has been said about the sexist attitude of the men towards women on this show.
I know it's a period piece and is suppose to represent the attitudes of another time.
Scary part for me is my last ten years in radio was so similar to the dynamic of their office!
This show which was suppose to be an example of a bygone era.
This was before women were equals in the workforce and yet the office politics were not much
different than what
I experienced over the past ten years.
I have to say...perhaps it's just a testament to the shady radio business because before I got into radio,
I didn't feel this way at all about other offices I worked in.

Anyway...do you think today's office environment is similar to Mad Men still for women?
Or completely changed?

I still love the show...even though it causes me uncomfortable flashbacks.

So when Shabby Apple asked if I wanted to do a giveaway for my readers, they said I could
pick an item for giveaway and I picked -

The Francine Skirt
Perfect office attire for today or 1960.
If you'd like to win "Francine" just leave a comment here and be a follower of my blog.
That's it. Leave a comment saying you wish to win and one saying you are a follower.
I'll announce the winner next Thursday, Nov. 17th.

Plus Shabby Apple is giving all my readers a 10% discount.
Just use the code  ModVintage10off  when purchasing at Shabby Apple.

I'm a follower, beautiful skirt would love to have it. I think women are still underpaid compared to their man counterparts, that has not changed. But no smoking in the office that is a change for the better. Laura Cottage and Broome

Love the skirt! I'm a follower!

I have to say, the men in my office are very respectful. And they are always willing to help and carry heavy things. I've even had men in my office check and add oil to my car when the light came on and change a tire for me when I had a flat in the office parking lot. I work with a good group of gentlemen!

hi nita,

love the skirt! if i won it would sure come in handy in my $10 outfit posts.

we just finished watching the whole mad men series on netflix too. and i agree with you. of course i was working in kitchens and let me tell you, boy were they male dominated. i would like to think b/c of the popularity of tv cooking shows that being a woman in a professional kitchen is easier than it was in my day. the sexual harrassment was everyday from the top to the lowest dishwasher.

i am already a follower and lover of your fabo blog!

Male attitudes in the workplace are the same as they've always been, they just aren't as blatant as they used to be.

I just watched all 52 episodes of Madmen on Netflix, too! I was working in the late 60s, and I think Madmen does a great job capturing the early 60s. Women everywhere have a great deal to thank the Women's Lib movement for. I sometimes wonder if women in their 20s and 30s understand and appreciate what women my age (60- ish) accomplished. Not to get political on your beautiful blog :-).

I'm a Follower but I don't want to win.
It's beautiful but my fat ass would never fit into it.
I could give it to one of my skinny nieces but then there would be a big fight...so yeah, don't enter my name.
(haven't seen Mad Men, I'll rent it but I'm thinking that SOME things have changed but OTHER things will always be the same.)
:D - Cindi

Happened to stumble across to this cozy little space of yours and I'm hooked now! Love your cottage and all the vintage pieces.

I work in advertising and media - It is shocking men's attitude has not changed at all. I'm just "a little 20 something Asian Twinkie" to them.

Been propositioned by executives a few times now and still receive some "late night drinks" invitation from visiting French executives when they are in town - all these despite having told them I'm in a loving relationship.

I love what you are doing with your blog and I look forward to more of your vintage pieces!

Oh, I'm a blogger too so if you like you can check out my blog htp://www.style-pick.com.
