Fall at The Feathered Nest

One day last week when I should have been doing something constructive - I instead went browsing at one of my favorite shopping spots. The Feathered Nest in Warr Acres near Oklahoma City.
This place never disappoints. Here is their Facebook page.
Lots of pretty fall displays to get you in the mood for cooler weather.
It's still in the 90's here.
 Love that gray cubbie.

Lots of cream, greige and wood tones in this booth.

I considered buying that little alabaster lamp for my kitchen but in the end left it. It was too yellow.
I'd never seen this china pattern before. It's Spode. I love that it has dogs on it!
If I had money to burn this would have come home with me to set a Thanksgiving table!

That mossy green ribbon really does it for me in this vignette.

Shabby Good Furniture

At the Feathered Nest Market
There is always a great selection of furniture every time I stop in at
The Feathered Nest Market in OKC.

Find them on Facebook - here.
As usual, anything turquoise catches my eye.
I showed this piece the other day. I love how the shabby way this is painted makes the details stand out.
More turquoise. This is a very glamorous vanity, indeed.
My friend, Jill who I was with this day loved this chair.
I do like the way they made it over.
Isn't it fun?
I thought the paint technique on this piece was interesting.
Just a gray wash over the existing finish.
Super easy and I do like the way it looks.
This one stopped me because of the drawer pulls.
Aren't they sweet?
Simple white...always good.
Pretty little metal frame.
I loved this clock. I need this clock. I usually avoid clocks.
My biggest flaw is that I'm late to everything and clocks don't help...they just make me feel bad about myself.
For real...I avoid them.
Another turquoise piece. This time a buffet.
Ok, another variation on turquoise again.
I would never look at these tables in their original finish.
I would consider them way too gaudy but put a little aqua paint and highlighting on them
and now they are fabulous!

Mom and I are hitting up the new Homegoods today in Norman.
I am very excited that we finally have one.
Mom just popped in the other day to make sure it was worth me making the trip.

I already knew it was worth the trip.

But she had never been in one.
She called me from the store saying,
"I'm at Homegoods! You will love it!"

I was like, "You were suppose to wait to go with me!"

She said, "Oh, I just peeked.. I just wanted to make sure it was worth your drive and it is!"

So we are going today after I get off work.

I feel so lucky that I have my Mom and her health is good.
Last year at this time she didn't feel good at all.
We are so lucky that open heart surgery last December fixed what was wrong with her
and she is back to doing all the things she loves to do.

I ran into a friend at the store the other day who is not so lucky.
Doctors told her that they feared she would die immediately on the table if they tried
to fix what is wrong with her heart.

Hard to believe in this day and time that nothing can be done for her.

Yes, I am so lucky that my Mom's heart was fixable.

Halloween Decor in Store

Let the Haunting Begin!
I recently made a trip to
Lots of Halloween going on there.
A trip around The Feathered Nest got me in the mood for Halloween.

I'll be back tomorrow with photos of furniture and other items in the shop.
But today, I just wanted to do an all Halloween post.

Now here is a question for you...
I adore a chippy white finish on furniture.
This is one of the pieces at Feathered Nest right now.

Oh...yes that chippy white finish is sooo good.
Why, oh why, is it so bad on windows?
Do you think I could start a fashion of having chippy windows?

I'm still cleaning up these windows...before I can paint anything.

Thanks for all of your suggestions the other day on what to do.

I was told by several that a paint gun was the way to go.

I'm a little hesitant though because one of my neighbors caught his house on fire with one!
What was suppose to be a little do it yourself turned into a complete
upstairs do over because of a house fire started by the heat gun.

I've been busy this week unloading and opening Christmas stuff for the store.
I'm so NOT into Christmas.
Actually, I'm feeling holiday decorating burn out already and it hasn't even begun.

I'm working on a Halloween craft or rather trying to come up with some Halloween craft
that hasn't been done before.

That is pretty hard to do considering anything new gets passed around on Pinterest
at lightening fast speed.

Also all the stuff in the stores (like Hobby Lobby) are copies of stuff that bloggers have created.
Burlap and velvet pumpkins are everywhere in the stores this year.
Mass produced.

Everywhere I turn I'm seeing blogger's ideas ripped off.

I don't mind creating something and having other bloggers copy and make their own version
but it's another thing to see large corporations ripping off our ideas.

What do you think?

Oh..don't forget my give-away that is going on...
