Three Little Pumpkins

All in a Row
In the kitchen window...just a little reminder that it's pumpkin time.
This summer the virginia creeper grew all over back side of my house because I had so many
plants I was watering (it got the run off) and because we had a mild summer.
I've just let it grow but it's taking over my kitchen window.
At some point...I'm going to have to trim it.

But I've enjoyed the wildness of it.

Here it is October 30th and I still have not had a pumpkin cappuccino yet!
Each year my sister and I anxiously look for the pumpkin cappuccino banner to go
up on 7-Eleven.
As a rule I never go in 7-Eleven or any other convenience store except to grab a quick
pumpkin cappuccino in the fall.

Starbucks is better...yes...but 7-Eleven's is cheap.
And I like cheap.

So I saw the banner was up one day about two weeks ago and
called my sister to let her know.

She said..."I know...I'm sitting in front of one right now...drinking my first!"

Myself..I've yet to have one, it's been too warm.
But this week it cooled off and it's on the agenda for this evening.

If you think I've had great restraint in avoiding this treat, consider
that I've had pumpkin ice cream twice in the last month!

I love pumpkin flavored anything in the fall!

Fall Container Gardens

I love a great big cement urn planted with fall abundance.

 via
Cabbages are absolutely a must.
 via
coleus does nicely but the first frost will wipe it out
 via
pumpkins should be included
 via
this all white fall display does me in
 via
mums, cabbage and ivy surround an evergreen
 via
more mums and cabbage
the addition of grasses add height

personally, I think a few pansies is a must

So....over a month ago my friend Jeff gave me a huge cement planter.
A gorgeous planter...it's a monster.

It had been his wife's, my friend Shannon that died a year and a half ago.

Jeff decided to sell their home and move into a smaller place
and he wanted me to have the giant concrete planter that always sat out front of their porch.

I was very happy to get it and had thoughts of all the wonderful things I'd fill it with
this fall.

It looks similar to this one shown below....but....

via

But...it is still in the back of my SUV.
I can't get it out.

I think the thing weighs at least 100 pounds! perhaps more.

Jeff and I tried to put it in the back of my car a month ago but a neighbor of his
happened by and he lifted it all by himself!

I bet that man has a hernia now.

Jeff lives near a military base and the man was in the military and
I think he just grabbed it thinking it was about 50 pounds and then was too proud to
say he couldn't do it.
I tried to help but he wouldn't let me.

So...now it's been riding in the back of my car for at least a month.

I tried nudging it a couple of times...I can't even scoot the thing.

I need a ramp, I think. Mom says she is bringing one next week and we'll tackle it.

I'm hoping soon I'll be able to fill it similar to those above.

Halloween Decor in Store

Let the Haunting Begin!
I recently made a trip to
Lots of Halloween going on there.
A trip around The Feathered Nest got me in the mood for Halloween.

I'll be back tomorrow with photos of furniture and other items in the shop.
But today, I just wanted to do an all Halloween post.

Now here is a question for you...
I adore a chippy white finish on furniture.
This is one of the pieces at Feathered Nest right now.

Oh...yes that chippy white finish is sooo good.
Why, oh why, is it so bad on windows?
Do you think I could start a fashion of having chippy windows?

I'm still cleaning up these windows...before I can paint anything.

Thanks for all of your suggestions the other day on what to do.

I was told by several that a paint gun was the way to go.

I'm a little hesitant though because one of my neighbors caught his house on fire with one!
What was suppose to be a little do it yourself turned into a complete
upstairs do over because of a house fire started by the heat gun.

I've been busy this week unloading and opening Christmas stuff for the store.
I'm so NOT into Christmas.
Actually, I'm feeling holiday decorating burn out already and it hasn't even begun.

I'm working on a Halloween craft or rather trying to come up with some Halloween craft
that hasn't been done before.

That is pretty hard to do considering anything new gets passed around on Pinterest
at lightening fast speed.

Also all the stuff in the stores (like Hobby Lobby) are copies of stuff that bloggers have created.
Burlap and velvet pumpkins are everywhere in the stores this year.
Mass produced.

Everywhere I turn I'm seeing blogger's ideas ripped off.

I don't mind creating something and having other bloggers copy and make their own version
but it's another thing to see large corporations ripping off our ideas.

What do you think?

Oh..don't forget my give-away that is going on...

Win a $100 Gift Certificate to use at

Just go to my post about it here and enter.

I'll announce the winner Tuesday, October 8th.

Fall Garden

I had a fun day on Thursday. My friend Jill and I headed out to shop a little in the afternoon.
First stop was Wilshire Garden Market.
This little garden store always has special things for each season.
We were greeted at the front door by all those wonderful faux pumpkins.

That's a very pretty fall pillow. I can just imagine it in my bench on the front porch.
I especially liked this display of small mercury glass votives on a silver tray.
Oh...I'll be copying this idea in my house for sure!
I love the lamps they carry at the market. These stone baluster lamps are indoor/outdoor.
The pumpkin pillows would add fall to a garden room.
Here we are with a larger version of the indoor/outdoor lamps.
I really like their chunky shape.
Notice the lamps above in this display?
Sweet little urns create the bases.
These would really look nice on a kitchen counter.
Fun birdcage outdoor pillow.
I found these little gnome house fronts delightful.
Just prop one in front of your favorite tree and it's an instant gnome home.
Gnome home planter.
There are lots of fountain pots at the store.
This is a new one.
Love the color combination. That turquoise on top was really vibrant.
Outside the bougainvillea is doing well. I asked how they wintered it and was told they
bring it inside into the back storage room near a window.
Outside there were real pumpkins scattered among the pots.
Pretty little fairy house nestled in a pot.
Isn't the plumbago pretty planted in the blue pots?
I adore plumbago! I have two large ones in the corners of my deck.
Anyone have a suggestion as to how I over winter it?

Well, I could have hung out all day at this store but after we did this.
It was on to The Feathered Nest.

If you live in the Oklahoma City area be sure to run by Wilshire Garden Market.
See their website - here.
You'll be glad you did.

Personally, I could hang out on their patio all day.
