Texas Gypsy Style

I ran across a piece of furniture on Pinterest the other day that led me to the Etsy store for a very talented lady. The shop owner for Texas Gypsy Style is Krista Mulkey. This furniture just wowed me! Look at all the layers of color!
I have a thing for these old Jacobean style sideboards anyway. I have one myself I painted mine a creamy white. I love it but oh...my these are jewels! These are something else!
The depth of color is amazing! Let me tell you it takes a lot of time to get this effect.
This is the first piece I saw that made me stop everything and go through all of this Etsy shop.
The layer upon layer of color is so scrumptious!
 Yummy!
This one's a little more simplified but still beautiful. Still fun.
I'd love to paint some furniture around my house like this. But afraid it's a little bold for my cottage.
 Amazing

One more for good measure.
I can't get enough of this furniture.
check out the Etsy store.

I hope you all had a nice Labor Day Weekend.
I worked. My Mom is car shopping and I went looking with her three days last week.
Ugh...car shopping...it's the worst.
Her little pickup got ran into a month or so ago and it was totalled.
She is trying to figure out what she wants now.
Three days of walking many car lots while she tried to decide.

I think she has it narrowed down to three.

So that put me behind.
I didn't get much done during the week so I had to work a lot Saturday night, Sunday and today.
I've just about got it all wrapped up.

On to the next thing!

Mod Mix Monday #189

 via
Lots of flowers in this week's favorites from Mod Mix Monday.
I am crazy for that floral curtain in the photo above. I'd like that as a shower curtain.
I also like the mix of flowers with the heavy weight linen upholstery.
Victoria of Trois Petites Filles sprinkled flowers about her home.
Laurel of The North End Loft took us on a tour of projects around her house including her dining room.
Darrielle of DD's Cottage made this super cute chalkboard out of an old window.
Penny of Penny's Vintage Home showed off her greenhouse all done up or spring.
It's not right to be jealous...it's a sin...but I so wish this greenhouse was mine.
Patti of Old Things New shared this super cute potting bench she made.
I love that she painted in wonderful cool tropical colors and then added punches of red.
Like I said, "Super Cute"!
Mary of Orphans with Makeup gave complete instructions on how to white wash furniture.
I love that piece above with it's wash of white.
You must see this at Old Black Cat Boo...
That's a giant Great Dane mix -cramming himself into a very tiny dog bed.

Mod Mix Monday #149

Super late getting this up...I know.
I had a nice Easter although a little strange.
We went to a Chinese Buffet!
It was delicious...although not the typical Easter fare.
Last night I just fell asleep and didn't get this up....so sorry about that.
Here are my favorites from last week's Mod Mix Monday!
Patti of Old Things New shared photos of her daughter's adorable vintage apartment.
Melanie of Lost and Found painted up a very cute dresser.
Christine of Little Brags let us see her very own Easter Bunny.
He lives at her house year round. Isn't she lucky?
Darrielle of DD's Cottage painted up an old french mirror. It's divine now!
Notice how pretty all is in the reflection!
I love Butterfly and Bungalow's kitchen so every time she shares it, I pretty much show it.
Look at the eggs they colored for easter and the pretty roses from her garden.
But what always gets me is her frig!
Pennsylvania French painted this art deco vanity, named her Tansy and gave her a back story.
I love the story she came up with. You'll enjoy it too.
Donna of An Anglo in Quebec placed grocery store flowers all about her home to add a bit of early spring.
I'm partial to this pot of hydrangeas. This shot looks straight out of a magazine...doesn't it?

Share your Mod Mix's in this week's party below.

Painted White Cabinet

Chippy White Goodness!!!
So I finally finished up my cabinet in the living room.
This is what it looked like before
I painted it with a mix of what I had on hand.
I had some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Ironstone.
But I didn't have a lot of it...so I mixed it up and added a pint of Valspar paint to it.
I lightly sanded first and then cleaned the cabinet up with vinegar.
I did too good of job sanding and cleaning because she didn't chip at all.
Perhaps she would have if I hadn't mixed paints.
Probably would...but I wanted to use what I had.
So I sanded the dickens out of her.
Then I used Miss Mustard Seed Furniture Wax on top.
Two coats.
 It's a beautiful smooth finish.
Knobs came from Hobby Lobby.
This pretty orchid?
I confess I bought it at work the other day.
I said I wouldn't be buying much there but I could not resist this sweet small orchid
in a silver container.

So yesterday at work one of the Vice Presidents of the company
came up to me and said,
"We were all looking at your blog this morning."

I was like...you were? How did you know I have a blog?

He said every morning they check to see what is being said about Bob Mills
Furniture on the internet and up popped my blog.

Thank goodness he didn't have a problem with me promoting the store.

I didn't think they would.
