Spring Front Porch

Not Perfect....but it will do for now.
I must say it seems pretty frivolous to be fluffing my porch when many here have lost
not only their porches but their homes.
But....I am.

The weather was very nice this afternoon so I got out a few new things I'd bought
for the front porch.

Alas, when I cleaned the porch the other day my outdoor rug literally
fell apart. I'd had it outside for three years.
It was looking worn on the side nearest the street where it got walked on the most.
I thought I'd turn it around and use the other side that was less worn..but when I did,
it just started splitting all over. It just came apart.

Now I'll be on the hunt for a new one.
My porch looks bare without it.
I added a new pillow to the mix of pillows on my settee.
It's from Pier 1, of course. I bought it recently on clearance.
A couple of lanterns from Pier 1 too.
Hmmm in these photos they look way bluer than the window paint but in person
they are very similar or at least I thought they were.
See it needs a rug again to pull the area together.
Or I'm thinking I need a wicker settee out here instead of the iron one.
I have too much iron going on...I know that...but it will have to do for now.
This is the same space with a rug in place.
Better with a rug I think.
Bought the lanterns just because of the color.
Franklin watched every move I made from the window.
The porch still needs a few more ferns.
I love the view from the porch into my house. It always looks so warm and inviting.
The ivy around the porch is doing really well this spring.

But, at least my front porch looks better with the addition of a few ferns.
But I still need to tweak it.

I have all summer.....
or at least that is what I tell myself.

It is the mundane, too, that they've lost in Moore, OK.

Being able to take a picture of their dog inside while outside on the porch 'fluffing'.

That type of mundane, created from the rest of our life, is precious.

You are blessed to have it too. Those are my times to 'listen', and pray.

Your ferns are gorgeous. We get way too much sun and our climate tends to be too dry for these plants outdoors. Always envious when I see them! Love your rug too (I almost ordered that one a while back).

Everything looks so pretty! The ivy and ferns fit so well with the style of your home. Love the bench and pillow. You always make me want to go to Pier 1.

Your porch is wonderful and I know Franklin wanted to be out there with you on that pretty rug
I like to buy from Pier one when they have a 1/2 price sale

Lanterns, ferns, wrought iron garden furniture... I don't need more for a perfect porch. Lovely.

Nita, I lost my home once to a fire and afterwards I loved seeing people who "fluffed" about there houses. It told me they appreciated what they had. The people who couldn't even be moved to get the Hefty bags off of the front porch ... well less said the better. I am glad you are safe and I loved the glimpse of Franklin today.

Your porch is beautiful, Nita, I love the lanterns and the pillow. Your fern is so healthy and gorgeous. They grow really well here, so I'm going to try using one in my front porch decor.
Your rug is perfect for that area, I think!

All so pretty with your lush, fresh greenery. I especially like the doggie in the window.

You have to do the best to bring beauty into your life and enjoy it, even for those who can't right now. The day will come when they'll be able to again. Your porch looks inviting and a little sophisticated all at the same time. The lanterns probably do look very close in real life to the trim color. I noticed that your window trim looks different in different shots. Isn't it funny how that happens all in a few minutes. I hope you find the rug you like. I know you won't feel it's finished until you do. Meanwhile those pillows are beautiful textiles there.

Your porch is so pretty! I love all the iron and the lanterns are so great! Ferns and porches just go together...I only have one right now but I'd love to hang a few too! Enjoy your weekend...it's been a rough week here in OKC. The weather was beautiful this afternoon wasn't it!

The porch looks really pretty Nita~why don't you stencil a pattern on a plain jute rug in the colors you want? Loved seeing all around out there. You have some nice concrete pieces too. Franklin is so cute!! He loves his mommy.

I like your porch, and especially that little settee -- so girly! I have those lanterns on my DR table. I think I bought them with my porch in mind, but when I parked them on the table while they were building the porch, I decided I liked them there, so they have stayed.

Your ferns look so healthy! I need to hit the nurseries soon.

It looks so pretty! I love the view to inside. Home Depot had Boston ferns 2 for $15, I just picked up a couple the other day myself.
