if you can....
I posted not long ago about my new ottoman that I'm going to make a slipcover for.
But I have a problem and I'm hoping someone out there can help...maybe.
I was going to cover it in this fabric.
I knew I wanted this fabric because I already had a chair slipcover that I bought
at Pier 1 in the summer made of it.
When I brought the slipcover out and laid it on the ottoman...oh...it was the perfect thing.
It pulled the color of my sofa in with the color of my fireplace.
It made the whole room make sense.
So here is the problem...
This fabric is called "Cisco Teak" they carry it at Hobby Lobby.
They carry it in several places on the internet.
No..problem...I'll go buy a few yards and make my slipcover.
So I go to Hobby Lobby to look at it again and I realize it's a velvet
whereas the slipcover I have is a very heavy upholstery weight cotton.
The colors are more muted on the cotton than on the velvet.
The velvet will be too thick to do the ruffles I want to do and the color is too bright.
I need the cotton but I cannot find this fabric in cotton...only in velvet.
So then I think...I'll just take the chair cover apart and turn it in to a slipcover for the
ottoman.
But it's not big enough!
When I bought this chair cover on sale last summer...they had two and I almost bought both of
them just in case I came across two chairs to use it on.
At the time I thought I was going to use it on my office chair...but it didn't fit.
Anyway...I couldn't imagine needing two if I really didn't even need one since I didn't have a chair it fit.
So of course now....if I had two....I'd be in great shape....I'd be able to stitch up
the cover I want for the ottoman....easily.
This chair cover was on sale last summer.
I did a search for one in our system and found a few in Texas and Missouri but called
and they didn't really have them.
So these don't exist in stores any more.
I've searched and searched the internet for this fabric in the cotton and for any fabric
that would work in place of it.
No luck.
My heart is set on this...
So how can you help?
I'm putting this out there in hopes someone has one of these chair covers they want to get rid of.
They used to be on Ebay...but of course now they aren't.
Just hoping....one of you might have it and not want it.
I learned my lesson....I thought I should buy two of these last summer.
They were like 9.99.
Something told me I should have bought both.
Thanks for reading this long story.
Here is my new favorite thing at Pier 1.
It's a chalkboard in a vintage looking frame.
Cute...isn't it?
I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it.
Really, I won't be getting it. But it's so cute!
Email me or leave a comment if you have any idea where I can get a hold of one of those slipcovers.

I hope you find it. It's tough when you are on a mission and hit a bump in the decorating plan. That chalkboard is awesome - tell us if it goes on sale. :)
I hope you find the fabric, Nita! Have you tried Craig's List? I really like the chalkboard.....wow!
Really no one is more articulate and cute than you in a pickle Nita. I hope you find it. The fabric is lovely.
How about a complimentary fabric for the top and floral with a single ruffle on the sides and bottom?
Do the top in the muted velvet and the ruffle in the cotton upholstery weight. Tie it together with a solid velvet brown trim and velvet brown buttons.
man, that's the story of my life.
coulda, shoulda, woulda.
yep, that's why I've made several trips to Target on both sides of the river here to buy discounted tablecloths that I wanted to remake into curtains, only to find something else and return everything I had rounded up. Sometimes the great ideas just drive us insane.
But, I'll keep an eye open for ya.
(The above anonymous idea sounds good though.)
Hi -- We have a Pier One store in town (NC) and I can either check, or if you can call and they have one, I can purchase it and send it to you.
Let me know, ok?

Oh my goodness! Isn't that the way it usually goes. How about doing the top in the floral and the ruffle in something else. Or the other way around? Just a thought anyway. Good luck to you.
I hope you find it, how frustrating not to have it when you need it. It's a really gorgeous fabric.
I LOVE the chalkboard!
I'd be happy to pop in our Pier One and see if they still have one and mail it to you. It is a pretty fabric. I'll check tomorrow for you if you like.
Look what I found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Teak-Dusty-Topstitched-Throw/dp/B0085KZNF4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361935709&sr=8-2&keywords=cisco+teak
If you don't want to spend so much money, I'd suggest a companion print for the ottoman and later think about getting the throw.
I've gotta say I totally love the original fabric on the ottoman. But I'm Frenchy that way... and no help at all.
Try fabric.com
Hobby Lobby has a duck fabric in stripes and chevrons even. Make it one of those that compliments the floral. The duck fabric will hold up to hard wear on an ottoman. Stripes are always good with a pretty floral.
Hope you find what you need. Maybe take awhile to decide, in the mean time what you want to do will materialize for you.
Very aggravating trying to find more of something that you need. Sometimes it requires plan B. Lots of good suggestions. With all your readers you might just get lucky and get more of that fabric.
Hi Nita,
Have you looked online at Fabric.com?
I've found some fabric there that my local fabric stores don't carry.
I saw that chalkboard at Pier 1 and liked it too! No place to put one unless I trade it for the one I made.
That fabric on your ottoman is going to be so fabulous, I love the colors you have in that room!!!
I hope your problem of finding it is solved soon!

Hi Nita, I sympathize with your predicament. I hope you can find a way to make it work.
You could try flipping the velvet over, sometimes a print is more muted on the wrong side. Another possibility is to try washing a sample of the velvet; maybe with a little bleach to fade it. This might also take some of the stiffness out of the fabric to make it look more like cotton. Washing upholstery fabric is always risky so don’t spend a lot on the sample.
i have found pier one items at big lots and tuesday morning too.
i will look at mine and see if i can find you one :)
