Country Living Christmas

The Rest of the Story
source: Country Living: Merry & Bright

Yesterday, I showed some tattered wallpaper and stockings.
One reader thought it was a staged photo but I knew I'd seen this whole room before.
So I did a search and found it.
The complete dining room that went with this photo.

I don't know maybe it is staged. That room looks pretty dilapidated.
See the ceiling?
This was in a past issue of Country Living but it's also in this book -

Love this sweet little fireplace. And this stocking is great inspiration too.
I still miss the magazine "Home Companion", don't you?

I'll have mantel photos later today.

Stockings will not be included.

I am going to LOVE seeing your Christmas decorating!!!!

I had to click on the beautiful chandelier on the side, and read your chendelier story. (As I love chandeliers also) and enjoyed seeing them, so beautiful!!! I really like the colors you have used in your lovely home. Can you tell me the paint colors you have in this room? I love the pale blue ceiling with the yellow walls!

I still miss it SO much! Mary wrote on her blog the other day that she considered doing a special issue, like Country Home, but decided not to - waahhhh! I have every issue, and still go through them every season. My favorite ever was the white farmhouse, with the red and white tiled fireplace - remember it?
Looking forward to your mantel! I'll have mine up at noon, too.
Cheers, Andrea

Hi Nita - Love the display from Home Companion...love the white feather tree and everything else around it.

I'm nervous...did your gift arrive safe??? I wanted to give you the seashells so I hope they did not break into small pieces. I did not think it through when I decided to give those out as a present...shipping a bottle of seashells was quite challenging, yikes!

OMG! I can't believe it!
Then again, I don't know why I'm so surprised to see that Home Companion photo on YOUR blog.
You see, when I was putting my booth together I scoured my old magazines for inspiration. It was THAT photo that made me decide to use my fiberglass fireplace as the focal point and to use white feather trees...too scary.

Love your new header!

I miss Home Companion so much!

I need to go to the attic and dig out my December Home Companions for some more inspiration!

It may not be staged because at our old house ( which will not be photographed) wallpaper peels off of plaster walls like that. The wallpapers here, we think, is from the 40's and is definitely not pretty like that house. The cracks in our plaster look pretty good sometimes. The new header is fab...the pink trees are so YOU!

I remember seeing that picture. I love that room too. Right down to that tattered paper. Good question though, I wonder if it was staged?

I don't care if it's staged or not. I still love to look at it. And the Home Companion pic is pretty sweet too.

I do miss Home Companion--I display all the old December issues along with my Christmas books and love to go back and stroll through the pages.

I love the new header. I love the peeling wallpaper pictures, staged or not. If I had an old house with vintage wallpaper that I wanted to keep, then it would look just like that.
