Old Silver

and a Surprise!
I decided my kitchen needs a mini makeover.
(oh...it needs a major makeover but I can only afford a mini one)
This involves me putting away my vintage pastel colored mixing bowls
and putting out silver instead.
But...I don't have enough silver things to do this.
So over the past few months, I've been acquiring a few pieces here and there.
(they have to be inexpensive as I am so poor at the moment)

Last night I won an auction on Ebay for this silver plated pitcher.
It's a vintage pool tournament trophy from 1938 (cool).

After winning it (only $5 - thank you very much)...
I thought...hmmmm...I wonder if this seller has any more silver I'd want?
I found this.
Huh? Yikes!
This is a nice piece but you can see the photographer in the reflection and he's not wearing a shirt.
This made me feel dirty.
And made the object not as desirable.
I have to say I did go through all his other auctions just to see what else I might see in the reflection.
I imagined there might be a whole porn moment going on there.
Then, I noticed in the pitcher I bought, that it looks like he's not wearing pants.

Talk about subliminal messages....is this why I couldn't resist bidding on it?
How sick am I that I went through all his other auctions to see what else I might see?
I imagined....the next sugar bowl might have a naked woman entering the room....
the next, a scantily clad plumber rings the doorbell...
You get the idea.

I wonder if this guy realizes that his shirtless body is being seen all over Ebay?

I just thought it was weird and had to share.

Nita, you're hilarious! :) I didn't even notice the reflections at first glance but I guess you can find out quite a lot about people who photograph silver pieces.
You know what that means, right? :) YOU now have to think twice before you take any blog pics of your new silver pieces. No more silky night gowns etc :) Unless that's what you want people to see of course :)
Your post made me laugh, love that.

It also looks like he might need some help with wall decor, it looks kind of stark and empty :)

Titti -
Oh...you are so right....he does need help with his decor....another thing that made it look like a cheap porn movie. Not that I would know exactly what a cheap one would look like, but I can imagine.

Too funny! I didn't even notice until you made mention of the reflections. Now I've been scrolling up and down your post to see this semi-naked man!

You are too cute! I have gotten several silver trays at yard sales recently for five dlollars or less. One is quite large and is footed. People seem not to want to polish silver anymore. I will gladly do it. hugs♥olive

Too funny and a little strange! I had to go back and look at the pictures again...and then I saw him! I wonder if he has any idea! Excited to see pictures of how you are going to display them in your kitchen!

And if you towards the top of your pieces, he's there again, but upside down!

Have you considered that this man might be doing this on purpose? He puts these gorgeous silver items up for sale knowing full well that only women (and possibly the odd gay man) would be interested in buying them. Then he leaves these half naked clues to capture your interest. I believe he's wanting female attention as opposed to male and here's why.
a)He has no wall decor which means there's no woman in his life and he's definitely not gay. b)Only a woman has that keen eye for detail and would therefore be the only one catching on to these subliminal messages. c)Only women have these motherly tendencies to want to take care of a man who looks lost and lonely.
So unless you want to take on a lost and lonely man I suggest you try to resist the subliminal messages and just take the silver loot. The internet is a pretty big sea to be fishing in so I'm sure another unsuspecting woman will soon come along and take him under her wings :)

I almost feel like I'm in some sort of conspiracy/mystery novel now... The late night ramblings of someone with too much imagination :) I'll stop hogging your comment section now.

Oh...my this is turning into a big mystery. Or perhaps we all need to ban together. I could give out the Ebay auction address so that we can report him and stop him from enticing someone else into his trap.

Or...I don't know he does look like quite the catch. I could email him and ask if he needs my decorating help. I think this might be a type of internet fraud, not discovered by the authorities yet. Perhaps I need to tell him I prefer to send him a check rather than use PayPal. Then we'll nab him!

I'll can tell you I'll definitely be adding him to my favorite sellers list on Ebay! That way I can keep an eye on his activities.

What a panic. I almost wanted to go look at his ebay offerings.. no pun intended. Now you got me going back and checking my posts for any silver pics. I know I had my shirt on though!!!

That...is...hilarious. Nice finds, even if he has no pants?! Porn moment indeed, wash the trophy, wash your hands!

I'm gonna keep an eye on my reflection in photos so I don't come off as a lunatic...
