Periwinkle Front Door

Because It Makes Me Happy!
Here is the reveal of my front door painted all
Martha Stewart Bluebird.
You can also see in this photo my windows painted the new color of
Sherwin Williams Underseas.
Pardon that ugly storm door. I wish I could afford to buy an all glass one.
But alas, I cannot.

I'll try to have a photo of the whole house tomorrow.
My inspiration for the door color was my favorite print of Clara Bow.
All the colors of my living room are in this vintage magazine cover.
Pale yellow, seafoam green, periwinkle, rose.

Oh...and this was my inspiration too...

See the table by the door? That needs to be painted desperately.
It was given to me by my friend Deidra who painted it herself.
When she gave it to me, I told her I'd be repainting it.
She said she didn't mind.
I've wanted to paint it a light shade of periwinkle for ages.
Perhaps the same shade as my breakfast nook ceiling which is
Disney Eeyore.
Or...I may just paint it a
creamy white.
I know a creamy white will work for sure.
Something else in the room painted periwinkle might distract from the door.
My living room always appears more yellow in photos than it is.
This photo is a more true to color than the other photos.
A little more of the room.
I like the color of the door a lot. I can't wait to have a wreath of blue hydrangeas on it next spring.

Do you think I should paint the little table white or periwinkle?

I think white so it doesnt fight for attention with the fabulous door! What a great space! I love it.

Oh, Nita! Your door is beautiful! LOVE THE COLOR!
I'd say white on the table but paint something else your periwinkle. It's just too pretty.

The front door color is wonderful...and the table would look pretty in a lighter shade of the door.

I think you should paint it whatever's in your heart!

Question: Why do you need a screen door?

Oh Nita, your door turned out so lovely. The periwinkle is such a pretty colour and it looks so nice opened up into your living room. Personally, I would paint the little table creamy white but you'll know what works best for your room. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Hi Nita, I would paint your table a softer shade of the front door. It will enhance the print of clara and repeat the color of the door. You know you can paint those old silver storms. I had silver storm window frames which I hated, and I painted them all black and they looked great. Just a thought....

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm wondering if white by itself on your table might fade into the wall. What about painting it white, then accenting it with periwinkle where it currently is dark and maybe on the apron of the top?

What a lovely door, I think I vote for the periwinkle. I am visiting for the first time....looking around I LOVE that dressing table from junk. wow!

I love the front door. But my eye is draw to it and the same color in the print. So I think painting it periwinkle would just draw the eye to the door even more. However if your not sure if it will stay there........I would paint it white so you could move it around.

Nita, it's all so beautiful. I love the door color and the print, the table by the door and the little drappy panels on the windows (I have to copy this SOMEWHERE!)and well, everything! You must just love living here.

What a cozy door! It really brings out the shades in the print.

I like the color of the windows, too.

I love a gal who isn't afraid of color! That's my kind of Okie friend. Growing up in Oklahoma, I never saw any lizards. Just frogs, turtles and those horned toads. Are those still around? I played with those endlessly as a child out in the garden with my grandmothers.

Your color choices worked out beautifully for your door and trim, Nita! You have such a wonderful eye for color--that plus your imagination is an awesome combination!

Love the glimpses indoors--too yummy :)

I love the colors you chose - pretty and completely unexpected. As for painting the table - there's a little bit of green showing on the frame around your front door. It's a wonderful vintage green. Have you considered that?

I hope you don't mind. I linked your post to my Porch and Garden Party at firstadream.blogspot.com.

What a cute door. I enjoy seeing color in others homes, especially when it is vibrant and it makes them happy.

Wow! The door makes such an impact painted that cheery color. I think Amy had a great idea also, to paint the storm door too.

Take care,

Love the color of your door!! So vibrant and it shows that a person with a fun personality lives here. I would probably whitewash the table, less competition for the rest of the room. But listen to your gut- do what YOU want. Have just spent a good part of the morning perusing your blog and have signed on to follow. Lovely ideas, sense of design, and fun spirit!

Your room lookes lovely! I really adore the door color- it's so inviting. You see that front porch and just know the inside of the house is going to be special. I like how you used the Clara Bow print as color inspiration- I always struggle with color choices and using a picture to draw inspiration is a great idea!

Ohhhh I just love your home and the door is fabulous. I like the table how it is, but in the long run creamy white would be more practical. I say go with whatever your heart tells you.

That door is so pretty! And I love the way it looks in your living room (which is also very pretty, btw). For some reason, purple is the color I am always to afraid to use. But seeing how good it can look, I may just have to try it somewhere!

I love the periwinkle on your door! My vote is white with tiny accents of periwinkle for the table. I noticed some nice places on the legs for some accent color!
