Roof Top Gardens

How is your summer going?
Mine is full of work and not much fun.
I'm working on a freelance design project at the moment which is why the blog has been lacking.
It should be done soon and I'll be back.
I always forget that just about the time I get my back deck looking nice...it gets too hot to enjoy it.

I didn't have time to go through all the Mod Mix Monday entrees so I'll just do it next week.
Hopefully, next week will be more under control as far as my time.
But for now..let's imagine what it would be like to spend some time in one of these roof
top gardens, shall we?
I love the dark floor and dark doors in that one above.

This one I'm sure is in New York City as it came from Martha.
 via
How charming is this? Lots of roof top gardens. This makes me think how fun would it be
to fly over my own neighborhood and view everyone's backyard gardens from the air?
 via
This one is super elegant!
 via
Then this one includes everything but the kitchen sink! It's exquisite!

I'd love to see the apartment this garden is above!
Love that arbor with the built in chases below.
Many good ideas in this roof top garden to incorporate into a backyard garden too.
I love that tree in the huge pot!

In spring I always wonder why I get in such a hurry for summer to end...and then we hit
those high 90's and higher days and I remember why we get anxious for fall.
Our best summer days are in the fall!

Flea Market Outdoors

The Eclectic Vintage Garden Space
Have you seen this new magazine?
It's full of delightful ideas for outdoor spaces all using flea market finds.
A brightly accessorized dining space under ivy covered rafters.
 brightly painted furniture
I love this rusted bed nestled in the garden complete with candelabra.
more pastel brights on the front porch
greens bring the outdoors into this covered area
I want one of those beds
More brights. Just a throw and a pillow spark up this corner.
Oh these climbing roses on a rusted iron gazebo! So in love with this.
A simple potting bench mounted to the outside wall.
clever

There are lots more ideas in this issue.
I've found it very inspiring!

and at work....
I just discovered we have this potting bench available.

Nice...isn't it?
And you know how obsessed I am about potting benches.

click here to go to the website Bob Mills Furniture.

It's perfect but it's pricey!

Thanks to everyone that encouraged me about my Mod Mix Monday Party.
I'm going to do my best to keep it going.

I know it's a small party but I really enjoy it and these days it's the only way
I can get to see what others are doing.

Flowers at the Window

Don't you love window boxes and balconies filled with flowers?
Browse these beauties and please answer a question for me.

Twice I've had someone leave a comment saying my blog is causing unwanted windows
and websites to pop up for them leading them to have to shut down their computer.
Is anyone having a difficulty when viewing my blog?
I have not noticed anything wrong when I view.

Please let me know.

Please let me know if you are having troubles viewing my blog.

I'm hoping to have the day off today.
I've been working lots lately and haven't been able to get anything completed
here at the house.

Hoping it happens today!

Outdoor Candlelight

Twig Lanterns
This post was a long time in coming.
Like a year.
Last year...I collected twig lanterns when I could find them on sale
from different sources during the summer.
By end of summer I had seven of them.
**UPDATE**
I had several you ask where I bought my lanterns...
I found them at Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
I bought some remote controlled led outdoor candles last week at Pier 1
to burn in them, finally.
I love that with one click I can turn them all on...flickering candlelight and no mess.
Really, the main reason I wanted to use these instead of real candles is I didn't want to turn the glass
inside all black.
And I wanted to be able to leave them outside without worrying about them
melting.
These candles are made of plastic instead of wax and they won't melt.
They are 20% off at Pier 1 through July 7th.
See them here

There was so much good stuff in last week's Mod Mix Monday that I'm showing off
the stuff I loved that was garden related in this post.
Melissa of Daisy Mae Belle created a cute canning jar lid wreath but I'm really
showing this because her backyard is so pretty.
Cindy of Sunset Coast painted this pot.
Isn't it fun! I love her use of color.
Penny of Penny's Vintage Home has a new fireplace in her garden made by someone she calls H.
I assume it's her hubby. How wonderful to have as a focal point in the garden.
Angi of Drakestone Primitives Country Cabin took a little metal table and added
some painted details making this perfect for use in the garden.
In His Grip spray painted a very sad little vintage tricycle pink and
is now using it as a planter.
Isn't it precious?

Mod Mix Monday is still going on

Garden Rust

Romantic Rustic Rust
Is there any better place for a little rust?
In the Garden for sure...
Like the garden object is going back to nature....to be one with the soil again eventually.
White garden chairs are always better with a little rust.
Rusted objects peak out amid green foliage.
A forgotten gate.
Climbing roses entwine this rusted fence.
A perfect garden urn...rust and roses.

Thanks for all your kind comments about my paintings the other day.
Next to paint on my list is portraits of the weenies.

I must take a photo of Harvey.
He has lost weight.
I put him on a diet a couple of months ago and he's still chubby but not so.
He's got a spring in his step.

Funny thing is...he is not the one asking for food all the time.
I am spoon feeding them so I can control how much each one eats.

Violet is the one demanding food all the time.
So I guess before Harvey was mostly eating out of boredom.

I think he's lost about 5 pounds.
I need to weigh him.

I took tours of two gardens in the neighborhood this week.
I'll show soon.

Have an Awesome Saturday!
