The Rose and The Ivy

My roses are blooming. The scent welcomes me when I come home each day as it is right by the drive way.

The view to the street from my front porch.

The ivy I planted is really going nuts. It might need a little haircut soon.

I'm going to have a give away later in the week. Check back for your chance to win.

Your porch is beautiful. You must enjoy coming home each day. I have not noticed the fruit statuary before, is it on both sides of the porch and it is orignal to the house? I am glad to see you are not working so much that you have no time for blogging this week.

Your pink rose is beautiful! It reminds me of my grandfather who keep a beautiful rose garden. Too bad I don't have the same green thumb!
You porch looks like a great place to relax with a glass of wine!

Nita,

I just wanted to say that your blog has become a 'must see' for me. While our decor tastes are not even similar, you and I share a love of a by-gone era. The work, the research, and the expense of (re)creating an authentic fireplace for your home is testament to your desire to keep the house in its era, and not drag it kicking and screaming into 2010. Thank you for that!

And I loved the story of how this house became your home. I agree that your Dad was involved (somehow)! I felt the same tug of - recognition - when stepping into my own home for the first time. I 'knew'. It was Home. And who knows, maybe my late mother had something to do with it. : )

Keep up the good blog. I love that little house of yours. -- HollyM

Holly - I'm leaving this comment here for you...I emailed you also but since it was anonymous, I wasn't sure it went through to you.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments about my blog. That is so nice that I am a “must see” for you. I had big plans to show all my projects around the house right away when I started the blog...but work got in the way.... They decided to start up a new radio station and switch other stations around...causing me to have to work...loads of overtime. But I am soooo hoping that soon I’ll get to expand the blog like I intended when I started it.

Before I bought my house I never would have imagined having a tile fireplace but once I started looking at these type of homes I became obsessed with them....really appreciating the artistic value of each. No two are the same. So it became something I had to have even though it was not necessarily what I ever had wanted....my house wanted it...needed it.

So nice to know someone is out there reading that "gets it".
