Mod Mix Monday #157

 via
Have a chair that doesn't look so good...throw a crazy crocheted afghan over it!
I don't condone that seat cushion however.

I love that little dresser with the mirror and that ugly lamp.
Somehow this all makes that lamp look good!

So yep....I missed getting the party up last week...and am doing it late this week...
but I'm doing the best I can.

I was pretty sure I was dying last week.
I thought I was having a heart attack for two days but I knew it was probably just
gas or acid reflux or something.

I know I should have gone to the doctor but my insurance doesn't kick in till this week.
So I just didn't.

But...I'm fine now except missing being here very much.
I miss all my online friends.

I miss the creative outlet this blog is for me.

I did work in the yard one day over the weekend ...but oh the house has had to go
on the back burner.

I hate that...cause I'm all about my house.

Darrielle of DD's Cottage sent me some fabric last week that I'd admired on her blog
and I'm anxious to sew something up out of it.
But then I have a stack of fabric waiting....so hoping to sew it up this week.

That's enough about me.....just wanted to let you all know
that even though I'm gone...you are not forgotten.

I wish I could hang out on the internet every day...and I'll be back
with photos of my yard soon among other things around the house.

Here are my favorites from the last Mod Mix Monday...
Just look at this amazing kitchen makeover by Patti at Old Things New!
I'm so inspired by this lamp made over to be an outside lamp from
Maria Elena at Our Home Away From Home.
A solar landscape light turns it into an outdoor lamp that automatically comes on when it gets dark.
From this point forward...I'm on the lookout for a lamp to do this to.
Thanks, Maria Elena!
A little Fourth of July decor from Melissa at Shabby Love.
I love this sweet little table!
Titia of Crafty in Canada did something fun with these bedside tables.
I do love the vintage pulls on these.
Victoria of Trois Petite Filles painted a mural inspired by Monet.
It's quite lovely but look at her daughters!
Aren't they the loveliest of them all?
Here we have project done up by Darrielle of DD's Cottage.
I love everything this girl does.
Just look at the surprise inside! The drawers are mod podged with cheery fabrics!
Another piece done by Darrielle that I'd love to have in my own home.

I can't believe it's already almost the 4th of July.
This year is racing by for me and I have to honestly say...I'm not getting to enjoy it much.

I'm so missing puttering around the house.
I'm so missing visiting with you!

Hang in there with me....I don't know how so many of you juggle so much.
I'm not good at it...not good at juggling at all.

Mod Mix Monday #148

I'm all about spring decorating at the moment.
That room above just screams spring!
Open the windows...hear the birds sing and enjoy the fresh spring air.
So...I'm all about spring but have not done much about it,
I've been too busy with the new job but
I have two days off in the middle of the week and hope to get some projects knocked out.
One of which includes painting the dining room.
I know...that's a big one...but do-able.

I might be too busy with work but my readers are busy getting things done.
Let's take a look at my favorites from last week's Mod Mix Monday.
I'm a sucker for this type of buffet. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, I can't get enough of them.
Orphans With Make Up painted this one in Paris Grey which really accentuates her beauty.
Shabby Love gathered some newly acquired vintage items and displayed them on her mantel.
They have a great sculptural quality. Love that it's all black, gray and shades of white and cream.
I adore this dresser! Love the color and the way it's painted.
It's another lovely creation at Trois Petites Filles.
A delightful kitchen makeover from The Sideways House caught my eye.
It's mostly paint and ingenuity that makes this kitchen charming.
The chalkboard wall adds some drama. Touches of stainless make the room feel fresh.
I think they did a fantastic job!
Sette Design painted a tired little chair and now it's all modern and cool!

Now let's have a little Easter...
I'm afraid I'm not going to put up any Easter decor this year.
I'm just too busy with starting the new job.
And this week I could either decorate for Easter or paint the dining room.
I'm going to go with painting the dining room.

But look at what other's have been up to in the Easter department.
Simply Suzannes cooked up these sparkly Easter sugar cookies.
She has some other great ideas too...you'll want to check out her other ideas.
Super sweet this bunny silhouette is from Restoration Redoux.
And who doesn't love deviled eggs for Easter.
Old Things New tells you how to make these colorful ones.
I actually have Easter off from work so perhaps I can make a batch of these.

Shades of Aqua

I feel like I haven't been here in ages. In actuality it's only been a couple of days.
I've just been super busy with the new job.
This week it's every day and homework at night.
Hopefully, next week things will even out and I'll know when I have extra time.
So today I thought I'd show some of my favorite pieces of furniture

I started thinking about how much I love furniture this color because
at my new store...my favorite pieces in the store are this color!

I'll show photos soon.
If I don't sell them first.
I'll be happy to sell them cause I won't be buying them...
cause I already have a table, a cabinet and
a foot stool in this color.

That doesn't mean I'll never have another piece in aqua...it's just I don't need it.
 via
Of course I'm a big fan of this sort of buffet. I have one myself but this one is especially pretty.
I usually don't really like furniture painted two tone like this...but this piece?
Well, it's perfection.

That little turquoise terrarium on top. You can get that at Hobby Lobby.
super cute
 via
A little industrial aqua...is good...very good.
chippy and reminds you of the beach
 via
This one is the perfect color and the perfect finish...very similar to my own cabinet.
  via
I wish I had a dresser missing drawers so I could do this.
Perhaps a little more turquoise-y but yummy just the same.

So at the new job...there is lots of transitional furniture.
But my favorites are the rugged to shabby pieces or industrial pieces.

Two of my favorites are one, a large chippy rugged aqua colored sideboard
with a big slab of white carrara marble on top.

Oh...it's good.

and two a large apothecary chest in the same color with library type drawer pulls.

It's big though...it would never fit in my house.

We also have some furniture made from recycled wood.
I love those pieces too.

Most of the furniture at my new job is quite large.
Most of it won't fit in my house.

I think that is probably a good thing.
No, I know it's a good thing.

I don't need furniture but it would be tempting to bring home if it was the right size for my place.

Two more days of training and then I'll find out if I'm going to enjoy the new job...really.

Or, I guess I won't know the first day....but will have a better idea.

Stay tuned....
