Vintage Kitchens

Kitchen Heaven
Me and a vintage kitchen.....I love em.
I found this one on Pinterest and it's full of great details.
Oh...to have room for an island. I do wish my kitchen had the space for one.
Another favorite of mine.
Love the metal top on this island.
I adore a vintage stove...but I don't think even I would have been inspired to keep this one.
Old photos from my home show one very much like this used to be in my kitchen
as recently as the early 90's.
I have to admit this one looks pretty great paired with that stainless sink.
Oh...my...have you seen this kitchen over at
If not...go there NOW.
This is an apartment in Paris where they turned the dining room into a dining room / kitchen.
It's so pretty. The cabinets are built around the existing fireplace.

And then there is this fabulous kitchen makeover
 done by Sue at
This was the before
and the after...
Plenty more of it to see at her blog. I love the way the cabinets are done above and around the stove.
I don't know why I have such a kitchen addiction. I don't cook very much at all.
But I love kitchens.

***UPDATE***
July 28, 2011
I just found out that the first kitchen I pictured is from a house in South Africa.
You can read all about this kitchen and house at this blog -

Didn't Sue do a great job? I'm impressed with all the details she chose. Everything is perfect.

Also interesting to see the island with the metal top. Most vintage furniture is too low for an island so that's an interesting way to bump up the work surface.

Stunning...Makes me itch to finish the back-splash and dinning room chairs.

Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi Nita, I love kitchens, too. I love the first one you showed, it is fabulous! I like all of the enamelware, she has a great collection of it, too.
The vintage stove, well, it looks good with the sink, that's true.
I love Sue's kitchen, she did some great things in it to keep the vintage vibe going.
Hugs, Cindy

Nita, you are too funny. Really you must start cooking more often as much as you love kitchens. I love that table in the middle of the kitchen with the plaid green chairs. ♥O

Also love and appreciate the look of a well done vintage kitchen, one that can keep the integrity of its originality and combine that with some of the modern conveniences we all want and need! Great post.

I also love the first kitchen. It is, in fact, from a home in South Africa, and one of my fellow bloggers, La Brocanteuse, did a feature on the house. The post is called Pauline's White house. Go and take a look - it's definitely worth it. x Sharon
