Arkansas Quartz

Sparkles Like Diamonds
I've always had a thing for sparkly rocks.
I used to beg my parents to stop at Rock Shops when we'd go on vacation when I was a kid.
I thought I'd find a real diamond for sure in all those rocks.
That crystal on the left was recently given to me by my friend Petra.
It's white quartz from Arkansas. Petra has lots of quartz in her home. Great big huge slabs of it.
I love this piece so much...and I think it looks very nice next to my big fake diamond
and pink slag glass.
The pink slag glass was brought to me one summer day by another friend, she said when she saw it,
she knew it had to go in my house.

I love having them sitting out during the summer.

Such a pretty post, Nita. Did you ever get geodes as a kid and crack them open with a hammer? I used to love to do that.

Love how the glass collection looks. I am not sure what the pink slag glass is, but it is gorgeous!

I also use to go to Rock Shops while on vacation as a kid! I loved getting some little treasures there : )

And like you, still love the sparkle, and the beauty of wondrous rocks!

Pretty Vignette!

They are lovely. DOes your friend have all the quartz because they give off some sort of energy or something? I thought I had read that once. Very sparkly and that is always a good thing.

They're gorgeous. I love rocks and have them around my house, mostly just from places we visit because we always bring back a cool rock from places we go. I LOVE that white quartz and the pink slag is lovely as well. Very very nice friends :)

My Grandmother used to collect quartz rocks. I don't know if she was ahead of her time or just liked the way they look, but they are supposed to bring harmony to a household and positive energy. After looking at your vignette I'd say that is the feeling they evoke!

Thanks~

Connie -
I would have emailed you if you had email enabled on your comment. I did make my lampshade. I simply recovered an old shade that I had with that damask fabric and added the beaded trim.

Love these photos. I am a big fan of rocks, too! I've keep all the unusual rocks and shells the kids and I have picked up on vacations and I like to display them around the house. Debbie http://thriftygirlvintage.com

I had a piece of quartz when I was a kid and NO ONE could convince that it wasn't diamonds.

So pretty...a natural element that is so feminine at the same time. Looks perfect in your house. I've never seen slag glass before either...neat!

Nita I also love sparkly things and rocks. I spent a lot of time in a lapidary shop as a kid and I loved it. My daughter collects as well and we a few sparklers and rocks hanging around. The pink slag is amazing, never heard of it. Always great to see what you are doing.

As I looked at the first image, I thought, "Now that grouping seems so perfect for Nita - full of feminine glitz and glamour." How fun that the pieces you have are gifts from friends. They obviously know your tastes quite well.

Thanks for linking up. You always add a bit of "sparkle" to the party. ;)
