and yet more Potting Benches

Had Enough of them?
I'm sorry...I told you I'd been collecting photos for awhile.
This one is absolutely one of my favorites.
Just a sink...Amy of Maison Decor just found old zinc sinks in her new
shop space or rather new to her shop space because the building is very old.
Did you hear Maison Decor is about to become a walk in real live store.
Read about it here.
Darn you Pottery Barn, you do it so well and at quite the price.
Thanks to all of you that made suggestions as to what I could make a bench out of.
I never thought to check out Craigslist's free section.
There arelots of free pallets and wood.
I need to tell my Brother in Law about that because he is always looking for scrap wood.

Today I woke and felt very positive about everything.
I haven't woken feeling happy about anything in well over a year.
Oh....I've tried desperately...but it just wasn't happening.
Last year was so rough. I lost two people I loved more than anything in this world.
(Yes, I include Newman in this. He was my son in a fur coat)

It's ok that I worked at Target for awhile because I was incapable of
being at home because I would just cry.

But Franklin made things much better.
I call him my little lifesaver.
He's a happy happy boy. He doesn't know how sad we all were last fall.
He's just happy to be here and he loves his new family.

He has been a miracle for Harvey.
Harvey did not want to have anything to do with him at first.
But now they are best of friends.

Harvey has even lost weight from playing with him.
That's a good thing.

He's very very attentive to me. He likes to jump in my arms and give me hugs and kisses.
Yep, he's a little lifesaver.
I'll have new photos of him soon.
The hair on his ears is getting longer.
He's soft like a bunny.

You can never know how much your support through your comments means to me.

What a gift.

Hi Nita! Glad to hear things are looking up. It's always darkest before the dawn as they say. Glad today's dawn was a good one. :). In my old house, I craved a potting bench or table. I did so much gardening. Now there's no time :(. But I would take any of those you've shown just to think about being in the dirt!!

So glad that you are feeling better. It's so hard to loose a pet and a favorite cousin. It takes a long time to mend your heart sometimes.

It's so nice to hear/read happiness in your words. I'm so glad you found your Franklin. He was just what your little family needed. I totally get the wiener thing NOW. My little Hattie is in my lap as I type this. :)
Last year I used an old resin fireplace and put an old table in front of it. Just the mantel showed and on top of that I placed a huge triangular piece of molding that I found at ReStore. On the table itself I used 2 glass blocks to brace a board that was stacked with terra cotta pots. Underneath I pushed a little wagon full of garden "stuff"...I guess what I'm trying to say is, I didn't have a "plan" but just gathered together things I liked and then it all just magically fell together.
I can't wait to see what you come up with. You have such a great EYE that I know it will be fabulous.

(I love that violet one!)

De-lurking to say, you can't have too many potting bench pictures. I've always wanted one. You've inspired me to try and pull one together some way, some how.

So glad you are feeling better. Nothing like doggy kisses and potting benches for fabulous pick-me-ups! Cheers, Jules

I don't know your whole story but I did read about your jobs at Target and Pier One. I admire you so much for doing what you have to do to make it. I lost the "dog of my heart" seven years ago so I understand that pain. I have two more now and I love them dearly but that "one" will always be in my heart. I'm glad you are feeling better and pray you will continue to find joy in life. Look up, not around!

Whether I leave a comment or don't, I have been consistently praying for you for some time. You've had to deal with a lot of painful life hurdles, and it would be far too easy to just give up on living and move into survival-only mode. It is a testament to who you are deep down that you have not lost your way. (And maybe a little bit of Someone Watching Over You.) I'm so delighted that Franklin has brought you joy. He seems like a perfect lap buddy.

I think leaving Target behind is a good move, and will continue to pray that doors will open in employment that satisfy your needs as well as your soul.

And, hey, just as a precaution, I've already asked for your protection against the ugly weather that has been forecast for your area today. You're welcome. ;)

It WILL get better. I'm living my own proof of that.

I have a friend who took an old table she found at a flea market and added copper sheeting to the top. She added old brackets and wood for shelving to the wall above to make a potting bench. The copper has a nice patina to it now.

I have enjoyed these posts, Nita!
