Jean Harlow "Dinner at Eight"

SILVER SCREEN
Decor Inspiration

I was so sleepy today because I stayed up till 5am to watch "Dinner at Eight" with Jean Harlow on TCM. The costumes and sets in this movie are just to die for. I searched the internet to find still shots of this lovely confection of a movie. This is one of my all time favorite photos from the movie.

I have several photos of Jean Harlow around my home.

More Silver...

I'm drawn to silver stuff and a couple of weeks ago I dropped in at the Salvation Army and found a couple of pieces of silver that I brought home for $3.99 each.

One is definitely a gravy boat and I think the other is too although it's engraved so it was presented as a trophy at one time.

It's engraved...
Governor's Cup
Class C Runner Up
C. Schlissel 1972

Hi Nita,
BJ from Sweet Nothings just sent me over as we have alot in common, looks mostly like our love for the old movies! I am a collector of all things Carole Lombard and sprinkle my blog with vintage movie stuff all the time. I will become a follower and please stop over and visit when you have time. I DVR'd Dinner at Eight, and will watch it soon.

Beautiful photos! As a teenager I used to stay up late at night watching all the old movies. Those were the days....

Oh, Nita, you scored well on your thrifty silver! I have a gravy boat w/attached underplate like yours. And that trophy is sooo wonderful!

Thanks for joining my Time Travel linky party.

Have a great weekend!

Wow, your Salvation Army store has much nicer stuff than ours does! Love the silver pieces. And those are wonderful movie stills, too. Jean Harlow was really beautiful - such a shame she died so young!

Happy VTT, and Happy Summertime! from Joy @ Joysweb

Thank you for sharing the gorgeous photos. That governor's cup is the coolest especially if you only paid 3.99. Great blog you got here will definitely be coming back.

This is the style we are re=doing our main bathroom in. Could you tell me where I could find some similar photos of the old movie stars. I thought I would put a few up on my wall beside the mirror. They don't have to be originals, copies will do fine.
Thanks

I might have been tempted to stay up also, but TCM is available On Demand.
I think the Governers Cup sounds like a sailing event.

Very nice finds and thanks for sharing the movie photos.
