Potting Benches

It's Spring and time for Potting!
 via
The first day of Spring and I start thinking about planting outside.
Every year I think I'll have a potting bench.
I've bought two different pieces of furniture to make into one but...
the first one my Mom liked...so I gave it to her.
The second one I decided to use inside.
So I'm still looking for a potting bench.
Isn't that one above amazing?
This one all in white is very fresh.

All the green looks pretty sitting on the white bench.
And then sometimes weathered wood is just right.
I'm sure it's all the pink flowers in this one that speaks to me.

simple and just right

Since every time I find an old piece of furniture to use as a potting bench it ends up inside,
I might just break down and buy one of these off Ebay.
There are lots of options on there and most have free shipping.

I'm leaning toward that one above. It's under $100 and can be folded up when not in use.
Easy to store! That's a plus.

Most of these are under $100 and none no more than $150.

Spend more and you get bigger and more elaborate.

So perhaps this year will be the year I'll have my potting bench.
A friend asked if I plant a lot and I said in the spring and fall.
"Will you use the bench?", he asked.
Truthfully, probably not. I usually do all my potting sitting on a stool in the backyard
where when I spill stuff like dirt...it does not matter.
It's easy to clean up when potting in the grass.
But I still do want the potting bench...cause they are just so quaint and really add to
the gardening atmosphere.

New China

So the last thing I need is a new china collection and I have been resisting this china for a very long time.
It's from Anthropologie. The other day I was out shopping with my friend Deidra and
she wanted to stop in Anthropologie to look around.

I picked up this plate and said...I've always loved this china.
She said "Oh..I love it too...we both need it!"
So she bought me the above plate.
There are several designs in this collection and now I need one of each.
(which is why I'd been resisting buying it)
So thanks to Deidra, I'll be going back time to time and buying another dish till I have a set.

Each plate is cute in it's own way. But the lizard one is my favorite.
I wish the flamingo one was pink instead of red.

pretty little tea cups too
I love that it's almost time for flowers.
I was driving by the farmer's market on Reno and Pam's Plants had all their pansies out.
I could not resist. I bought some pansies to add to the ones that made it through the winter here.
Last night...a big goodbye to Deidra dinner was had at Picasso's on the Paseo.
Once a month they do a vegetarian dinner and wine tasting.
Each course was better than the last with the dessert ending the evening.
Have you ever had lavender flavored ice cream?
They served it with roasted figs and sprinkled with pistachio brittle.
Oh..my it was heavenly!

I said to everyone that I was so sad that I'd never have this dessert again.
Because it's not something they normally have on the menu and each month they
do and entirely different meal.

Deidra said I could make it myself. But that is seriously doubtful.
But it would be very nice to eat lavender ice cream on my new china!

Mod Mix Monday #184

What do you think about the dark dining room off of a light living room?
I usually like one room to flow into another. But I like this dark room just beyond too.
There are lots of things I love in these rooms and many things I do not
and yet...it all works. Lots of interesting ideas.

Things I love -
that sofa
the brass table
the dining table
that light fixture in the dining room
the dark paint
the radiator
little pots of succulents
the hexagon mirrors on the ceiling in the dining room

Things I don't like so much -
those dining chairs
that brass table
the indian rug
the cow hide rug in the dining room
the big floor lamp

But mix it all together and I really like it all together.

Well, these are just my thoughts today...
here are my favorites from last week's Mod Mix Monday.
Victoria of Trois Petites Filles hit it out of the park with this new way to display fresh flowers.
Frame me Pretty!
Kim of Reposhture Studio shared how to make transfer printed pillows.
Love this Easter Rabbit one.
Jamie of So Much Better with Age shares all the T on her new french vintage kitchen.

Very cute tiered Easter display at Priscillas.
Just look at this stunner at Iris Abbey. My Oh My she's a beaut!
Butterfly and Bungalow shared more of her landscape. Just look at those raised beds!
I love the St. Francis bird feeder too.
