New Chalkboard for the Weenie Condo

Message to the Weenies
I've seen lots of great chalkboards on many blogs. Most of the ones I really really liked were made from old frames and mirrors. Well, I needed a chalkboard now... to leave messages to the weenies on...I didn't have time to wait till I found the perfect antique frame or mirror...so a couple of weeks ago...I'm in Michael's Crafts and I see this on clearance for $10.

I really kind of liked it as is...but I'm not into red and the rust on it was too perfect. And it was almost the same color as my walls. So I bought some chalkboard paint and my favorite white spray paint.

And this is the finished chalkboard. Perfect for leaving messages to the weenies.

It now hangs by the back door in the breakfast nook or as I call it the Weenie Condo because that's where the weenies live during the day while I am at work. As you see....I left them their first message.

Although for this message board to really work for them....it needs to hang at about a foot off the floor. Because they won't strain their necks to look up to see what message I've left when it hangs this high. Oh...well I can leave messages to myself on it.

Here's a silly story...last year I had a water leak in the backyard. My plumber, Don came out to find out what was wrong. He had to go under the house at the little door that is on the west side of my house right under the Weenie Condo. He was putting on his coveralls and explaining that he'd forgotten his hat...and he didn't like to go under houses without his hat because of all the spiders under houses. But he'd go ahead because it had to be done. So I'm watching as he bends his over 6 foot frame to go under...he's very cute...I forgot to mention that. All of a sudden he comes backing out as fast as he can and jumps to his feet with a frightened look on his face. But then he starts to laugh...

He says...."I started under and I could hear the sound of lots of little feet above me and I thought - Those are the biggest rats I've ever heard....I'm out of here!" That is when he backed out super quick. But as soon as he came out he realized what he was hearing was the weenies overhead in their condo...he also realized that you don't hear the clicking of rat toenails on the floor...and made him realize exactly what he was hearing.

Anyway...we laughed and laughed that for a split second he thought I had an infestation of the hugest rats ever. Nope...but I do have an infestation of weenies.

I'm super late but sharing this over at

My First and Possibly Only

Giveaway!!!

"Bob, tell them what they might win."

Last week, I'm blogging away and going through my emails when I receive an email from a representative of CSNStores.com

I had never heard of this online store which is actually like 200 stores all together where you can find tv stands, furniture, toys, home decor, and so much more! Anyway, their lovely representative....Eileen said she loved the high quality look and feel of my blog (flattery will get you everywhere) and wondered if I would be interested in doing a giveaway for my readers. I told her I'd have to check out their store first before I could commit.

Well, I went there and did a search...which takes awhile because they have so many stores and products to choose from. There products range from furniture to home accessories to kitchen necessities to home improvement products such as flooring and more...you name it and they seem to have it. Plus....and are you ready for this...most things have FREE shipping! That's definitely a plus.

So I wrote back to Eileen and said yes...I'd talk about their store (she said I didn't have to, but I wanted to because it's so awesome) and give my readers the chance to win something from their store.

I decided to go on an imaginary shopping trip and just pick out things I would buy from there if I had all the money in the world to spend. They have products in every price point from very budget friendly up to high end. There is truly something for everyone. They also have all styles from Traditional to Modern to Transitional to Contemporary.

I decided to focus most of my shopping adventure on

(one of their many stores)

Keep reading to find out how you can win a $50 gift certificate to use online at CSNStores.com

First thing...I went looking for the venetian mirror I've been wanting for my hallway...there it was...just the one I've been wanting...

I have just the perfect spot for this mirror. This was in the regular CSNStore.com

Then I headed to allmodern.com

I thought I might buy this sofa for my office / library but there were so many styles it was really hard to decide.

Then I found this lamp....that just seems so Hollywood it would be hard to resist

I thought this was a cool chandelier...Would I put it in my house?...no...but it sure would be cool at my work office.

I liked this lamp too

and this headboard was dreamy and very inexpensive

Then I focused on finding the Saarinen table that I blogged about last week...

They had it!

I thought I might pair it with the ghost chairs that they carry also...but those chairs have been so over exposed...everyone has used them...

so instead I thought this chair would be perfect and is comes in several transparent colors

Aren't they darling? They look like bamboo but are made of lucite.

So pretty...

then I found the perfect chandelier that would tie the whole room together...

What fun!

Let's imagine what it would all look like together

here in a room

a couple of other things I need...

and of course....you saw it coming...This place has everything...I want...including the perfect...

kitchen sink.

Now...for your part. If you'd like to be entered in the drawing to win a $50 gift Certificate from CSNstores.com just leave me a comment and tell me what you would spend your $50 on (if you want...you don't have to). You'll get two entries if you leave me a comment and become a follower of my blog. If you leave me a comment, but are already a follower of my blog...then you automatically get two entries. You can enter through Sunday night, May 2.

I'll do a drawing and announce the winner here after Sunday.

That's pretty easy, right? Can't wait to hear about what you would use your $50 for...they have anything and everything you might imagine.

I decided to extend this giveaway till Tuesday night...May 4 because my plan was to link up to some parties this weekend creating more exposure but that didn't happen until Sunday late afternoon. So you still have time to enter!

The Rose and The Ivy

My roses are blooming. The scent welcomes me when I come home each day as it is right by the drive way.

The view to the street from my front porch.

The ivy I planted is really going nuts. It might need a little haircut soon.

I'm going to have a give away later in the week. Check back for your chance to win.
