Interesting Mix
I would never buy these things and yet I love how they all look together.
It's all about the mix. I would never look twice at that black patent leather ornate bench
but it is the perfect compliment to the other items in this room.
I've had a hard week with the blog piracy thing and no matter how much I say
I am moving forward and getting over my heart break...
it's physically not happening.
it's physically not happening.
I'm still very sad. So much so, that I went to the doctor and got on anti-depressants.
Yep, I'm telling all. I just cannot be this sad for a long time.
I'll let you know if my mood lifts.
I discovered I can get a generic brand of Celexa at Walmart for only $4.
That means you can be poor and still get some help.
Which is what I needed.
(good to know if anyone out there is struggling with depression)

Ok, now on to what I loved last week in Mod Mix Monday.
Courtney at French Country Cottage had another great idea this past week.
Little fancy chalkboards made from thrifted frames.
Tattered and Timeless created a lovely big chalkboard out of an antique dresser mirror.
Laurie at House to Your Home painted a little table in a chevron pattern.
It's MOD now...that's for sure...but lets just say it chevron is
zig zag.....just like Charlie Brown's shirt and rick rack.
I don't know why everyone is so impressed by zig zag these days.
Although I do like this table.
and I had to include this one because I personally love this kind of furniture.
A very pretty makeover by Uniquely Chic.
I promise I'm really going to try to get some new posts going this week.
I'm trying...but knowing I should and being able to do it are two entirely different things.
Now link up your mixes for this week below.
I want to see anything new mixed with something old.
Antique and Modern side by side.
Something old made to be new or something new made to look old.

Struggled with depression my entire adult life. Medication does help, so does fresh air with exercise. I have also found that yoga helps. Good luck - you have had so much to contend with. You inspire a lot of people with your beautiful blog. Hang in there!

What a lovely mix, thanks and you take care!
I'm glad you got some meds to help you through this time. Hang on, I promise it will get better.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that black patent leather bench! I love everything about that room, except the pillows.
and maybe not that rug.
and I would switch out the chande for a big industrial metal hanging light...but other than that, I love it! :D - Cindi
The black patent bench really glams it up. Love all your features. Kuddos to you for speaking out on depression. Valuable information.
i wish a good friend of mine would get on anti-depressents. i think if you could force yourself outside for some fresh air that would help too. i know it always helps me. wish i had something more helpful to add. xo janet
Hello Nita! I agree with your thoughts on the first picture. The pieces might not look good together. But in reality, they complement each other.
I hope you'll be better soon. I will include you in my prayers.
I always enjoy your blog so much, am hoping and praying you will be much better soon! Just remember that you have many folks out here in blog land pulling for you and your happiness..Thanks for all your beautiful ideas and decor.
I love your photos this morning, I love when things aren't supposed to go but does! Thanks for showing off my chevron (zig zag) (; table!! I really appreciate it! I'm also sending good thoughts your way, I know what you're going through is tough.
Nita, My heart goes out to you. I will be praying for you. I really enjoy your blog. Thanks for posting beautiful inspirations.
Nita,
Your honesty about how you are feeling is so open and heart-felt.
When our hearts are broken it is so difficult to see beyond the heartbreak. Whenever bad things happen it chips away at our belief that God is good and that He loves us. And we stop being thankful, stop giving thanks, stop feeling gratitude ~ and lose hope.
I've been there!
Sorrow opens the door to all the things that have broken our hearts over the years... it builds upon itself until the burden is too heavy to bear.
Because of this, these verses speak to my heart... "Come unto me, all you who are weary and broken in heart and you will find rest for your souls" (Jesus' words)
"Cast your cares upon the Lord for He cares for you"
"I have come to bind up the broken hearted" (again, Jesus...)
I am reading a beautiful book, so honestly written, it is called,
"One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp ... the author writes about her heartbreak and unbelief that God is good, and shares that our lives can become filled with hope again.
I have a beautiful friend whose life shines this beauty. Over 30 years ago her only child, her 8 year old daughter, was killed in a car crash. It was devastating to her. She eventually surrendered it all to the Lord, and even though at certain times the sorrow of that day fills her heart, she lives a joyful life, filled with gratitude. (and yes, takes medication too!)
It is impossible without God taking the burden and carrying it for us. We live in a broken world.
It may not feel like it right now,
but God loves you and cares about your precious broken heart...
The darkness is too overwhelming and oh how we need the Light.
I am praying for you precious one!

Take your time getting back into it. You have been and are going thru a lot so don't let blogging become a burden. I am taking a couple of days off from posting because my best friends mom passed away last week and with the viewing last night and the funeral today one is not much in the mood to take pics and post them. Just taking it easy and helping her get thru these days. Your posts on the inspiration you find online are always excellent. I look forward to those from you. Anyway I am sounding like your mom. Have a good week.
I think it is great helping others when you feel like you do. I think you are doing better, even though your heart is broken, you are trying, and that is the best thing you can do. I loved that first image, and the black patent bench does look good there.
hi nita..saw you on a sidebar and came by to see how you are doing...
i think about you alot...
and send love and support

Depression is repressed anger over what you expected to happen, versus what really occurred, incidents that fell short your high standards. I think you're a positive person faced with many incidents, spanned over many months of dealing with sadness, disappointment, and realize that in order to be healthy, you need to protect your emotional health. The piracy was the straw, so-to-speak. The thing is, Nita, this is your time to discover what works for you-just like patent leather ottomans and shabby linen combos that make you stop and smile, but perhaps it's not for everyone (it works for me). You're in my prayers, as I recently felt betrayed, and made me rethink how I react to negativity.
Admitting you need help (meds) & getting them is a huge step & takes a lot of bravery. I have had to be on them before & I know they were exactly what I needed. Stay strong my friend....You will get through it one second at a time.
I am so sorry you are going through all that you are. I get it though. I feel myself going into a downward spiral feeling terrible.
I know I will get through it but at what cost? You have such bravery sharing with us all.
On a brighter note thanks for the shout out..I appreciate it more than you know..it sort of gives what I do a bit of importance.
Darling Nita, thank you so much for dropping in to check on my Georgia. She is healing up so nicely and has her spunk back. In all of your woes you took the time to check on my sweet Georgie. Thank you it means so much. Nita, you have the most darling, talented, following. I can see why. I hope you find some peace in your day. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
Forgot to say,
Thank you for sharing so much beauty here! Ooooh, I like that chalkboard made from a vintage dresser piece. I must go check out the other Mod Mixes...
I've been painting with Chalk Paint and having a blast with it, the coffee table is done as well as several other pieces. The problem is now I keep eyeing things in here with a paint twinkle in my eye... thinking of more transformations I don't have time for! Eeeeeck!

Hugs to you, sweet Nita. I hope the meds are beneficial for you -- I know they helped me through some dark times. I do remember it taking about six weeks to fully "take" and that they recommended I stay on them for at least six months, preferably a year, to stave off the chance of rebound depression when I ended. This was Zoloft, though ... don't know if your med has the same guidelines.
On a lighter note, live the first pic! I think those might be Kim Parker pillows -- always love her designs
Hi Nita,
I've seen your comments often on other blogs and I don't know why, but I've never popped over. It was actually the piracy post that brought you me as a new follower - silver lining?... Anyway I personally know what depression feels like and the fact that you've acted quickly and are taking steps to feel better is fantastic. Don't let it suck you in and just know that things will get better.

That is an interesting mix! Sure be glad when I can unpack boxes and join parties.

Hi Nita, I think we all go through bouts of that and sometimes it just takes something to push us right over the edge...the piracy issue. Can't believe it. Anyway, you aren't alone in your depression struggles. You just don't hear alot of women talk about it. You putting it out there will surprisingly help alot of women come to terms with their own depression. Good Job!!!
I linked up to the party! I'd love it if you shared a project at my 1st Link Party that started yesterday.
Hang in there blogger friend.

Come follow my blog sweetheart! xx
Don't feel bad about getting help, just get better, sweet lady.
Love and hugs, Cindy
