Mod Mix Monday #5

Already Week Five!
My how time can fly...
Thanks to everyone who commented on my find yesterday -
I found the above chandelier on Pinterest and thought it was an unusual way to display plants.
I bought this chandelier with my cousin and best friend in mind...Shelly.
She has been wanting a chandelier in her backyard.
This is not the kind she was wanting but I think we can make it fabulous.
I'll show photos once I fix it up.
I'll work on it tomorrow at her house.
I know I said I kind of wanted to keep it but I already have a chandi in my backyard that is very nice.
I just haven't shown it because where it hangs is not how I want it to look yet.
I should get on that....but it was 104 degrees here today!
Too hot to do much of anything outside.

Now I'm going to ask for a huge favor...please say a prayer or two or three or thousands
for my best friend and cousin...Shelly.
That's her and her dog Lucy.
Ten years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After going through so much, she was cancer free until last fall.
Six months before they would have declared her cured.
So last fall she did chemo and radiation. It had come back in her lymph nodes.
We were very happy when it shrunk immediately and was gone by the end of treatment.
Now as of last week the cancer is back. And she started chemo last Wednesday.
She has already been through the fight of her life and now begins another.
It is now on the outside of her lungs and in her bones.
We are hopeful that chemo will work again. It has to.
But we can use all the positive energy we can get.
We are only six months apart in age and have been best friends all our lives.
I cannot imagine my life without her.
She does not know I am posting this and probably would be very uncomfortable about it if she did know.
But she doesn't read my blog very often so will most likely miss this.
So I figure what she doesn't know won't hurt her and I figure it can't hurt to have many praying for her.
So please keep her in your thoughts....

Now on to a review of the best of last week's Mod Mix Monday!
1. Theresa at Momma T's Place showed off her Dining Room Tweak
after her daughter came in the door and declared it looking too granny.
I can't imagine that, look at that wallpaper!
Isn't it great? Of course I love that turquoise cabinet!
2. Big galvanized tubs filled with pink and orange flowers. I love this mix.
Perfect additions to Valarie's garden at Glimpse of My World.
3. Cindy at Cameras and Chaos just created this fabulous bench
out of a real ugly, ugly brown sofa.
Hard to believe how cute it turned out when you see how ugly it was before.
Isn't it great?
4. Dharma of A Wannabe Mermaid's Diary of Living Out Loud
redid both a hutch and a buffetinto two beautiful pieces of furniture.
Look how current this looks with the wallpaper inside and styled with liquor bottles and turquoise owl.
It's Retro - Baby!

Now lets see what you've been up to this week.
I just finished painting my little table periwinkle and will show that next week.
Plus Tuesday I'll have my tutorial up about the kitchen tile redo.

Thanks to all of you that participate each week.
You can link up anything that is modern mixed with traditional or antique.
Or if its just modern, show us that too. Or anything old given a fresh spin with paint.
Or anything new or old changed up in and interesting way.
Please be sure to use the link to the actual post...not to your whole blog.
Please link back here to this exact post and I'd love it if you enjoy this party for you to
follow my blog too.

I just sent up some prayers for your cousin. I can't even imagine what she is going thru. When I had to have my infusions I had to go to the chemo ward at our hospital and what those courageous people go thru is heart wrenching. Hugs to both of you. Kit
