Open House Sunday

Dallas Tudor Cottage
This pretty cottage was sent to me by a reader a few weeks ago.
But my bad...I didn't get it posted fast enough...the listing has already disappeared so
I can't link to it or tell you what year it was built. (early 30's I'd guess)
But that doesn't keep it from being fun to look at.
It's got great curb appeal!
I love the way it's painted.
The contrast of the timbers, stucco, multi color brick and large flagstone all mix together nicely.
Wouldn't you love to spend a summer afternoon on this porch?
What a great outdoor room! I really like the furniture they chose.
What a big porch! French doors out to it too plus a lovely view of the neighborhood.
The living room has a nice cathedral ceiling and another little sitting room through the arch.
Look at all the arched windows in this room!
Special art tile fireplace too.
This house is decorated very nicely.
It's in warmer colors than I prefer but its pretty and very livable looking.
Arches on both sides of the room. That is unusual!
Warm inviting dining room. Unusual original chandelier in this room.
I love that big print on the wall of some sort of general.
This owner has quite a collection of transferware!
All of this is so pretty...but I'd love to paint some of this furniture...wouldn't you?
Inviting little den.
Breakfast nook with wonderful built in.
The kitchen in this house is super nice.
It's got all great finishes.
Black granite, subway tiles, bridge faucet, stainless appliances plus a little breakfast bar on one side.
That's unusual.
I love the drawer pulls. I need these myself.
Wish the stove had a fancier hood and then it would be perfect.
This kitchen is large for a house of this age and style.
Pretty comfy bedrooms.
But here is what I really love in this house....the bathrooms!
How about an original peach and green one?
We'll call this bathroom - A
Bathroom B is lavender and black original tile. Wow!
And bathroom C I would guess is a new one built to look old.
I wish they'd used more tile on the walls in this one instead of beadboard but I love all else.
I think this would be the upstairs hall.
The back deck is a great spot too although it doesn't compare to that front porch!
From the back, you can see where the house has been added on to over the years.
Here is the important question which bathroom do you like best?
A, B or C?
I'm crazy for A and B leaning more towards B.
I think it would be so fun to paint these and accessorize them to play up the colored tile.
I don't think they are living up to their full potential.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Weather is absolutely gorgeous here!

If the summers were like this every year in Oklahoma everyone
would want to live here and it would be called California!

Vintage Bathrooms

Cause I love em so....
If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know I have a thing for vintage bathrooms and kitchens.
I love a tiled bathroom.
These images are especially nice....
although I believe all are probably new except the last one.
The little shelf rail above the tile is especially nice in that above image.
This one, I like the open shelving and that mirror...and the sink and the faucet.
Nice view into this one.
I really love this one. The red and white toile mixed with the vintage tile is perfection.
But they are not fooling me for a minute that there is room enough for a chair in the room.
I know that chair is just there temporarily and blocking the door.
But it sure looks good.
I love red and turquoise together!
Here is my little and I do mean little master bath.
I'm growing tired of the toile and wanting to paint the walls too.
Although when I painted this, I swore I'd never paint it again.
It was no fun.
I absolutely hate that tiny tile backsplash.
I want the whole room tiled halfway up.
But that would mean redoing the bath/shower too and there is no sense in that.
It's practically like brand new.
So I've been thinking of painting the wall half way up in white.
I could do bead board but in such a tight space, it would be difficult.
I think maybe if I just painted half way up in white I wouldn't mind the backsplash so much.
Or perhaps I should see if I could get it to come off the wall easily?

That is just what I am thinking about today since its way too cold to do anything outside
in the yard which is what I had planned to do.

Don't forget to go to Jo-Ann's and use this coupon!

Vintage Tile

For Real
Ready for some original vintage tile goodness?
I spent the weekend helping a friend with an Estate Sale at this house.
This home was built in 1936. It had the same owner from 1953 to the present.
Which is why it has all it's original tile inside.
Which is just the best. All this house needs is some paint and some love.
This home is for sale currently for $150,000.
I took these photos during the sale...so there are lots of things scattered about but you get
the idea of how great it is.
I love these cabinets so much. This is the first home I have seen in my neighborhood or anywhere
in this city with original subway tile. Usually, you see 4x4.
Comes complete with this great vintage stove. Love that.
I wish my house had it's original cabinets.
I like the original wall faucet.
This tile is pristine. Not a crack anywhere.
Next, the master bath is also full of all the original tile. Don't you adore that sweet little built in vanity?
See the soap dishes in the tile? So many times these have been broken through the years.
Here they are as perfect as the day they were set. Original medicine cabinet too.
The sink has been replaced.
If I bought this house...I'd immediately start looking for either a vintage sink
or a new one that looks from the era.
Of course the wallpaper needs to go.
But that's all this bath needs in my opinion.
I wish I could pluck this bathroom out of this house and put it in mine.
Detail of the border tile.
Precious.
This home is a two story or actually...a three story.
You go up a half flight of stairs to the first bedroom and bath and then up another flight
to two other bedrooms.
This phone area is at the second floor stair landing.
I love those scallops in the woodwork.
On the top floor across from the large bedrooms is this green bath.
Again...that wallpaper needs to go but other than that...it's as cute as can be.
All the towel bars and trim intact.
Not a broken tile anywhere.
Perfection.
Complete with hexagon floor and working gas heater.
The marks in the floor tile are clues that this is not the original sink.
The original sink had legs.
soap dish and detail of the border tile

I hope whoever buys this house appreciates all it's original details and enhances them rather
than tears them out.
