Shades of Aqua

I feel like I haven't been here in ages. In actuality it's only been a couple of days.
I've just been super busy with the new job.
This week it's every day and homework at night.
Hopefully, next week things will even out and I'll know when I have extra time.
So today I thought I'd show some of my favorite pieces of furniture

I started thinking about how much I love furniture this color because
at my new store...my favorite pieces in the store are this color!

I'll show photos soon.
If I don't sell them first.
I'll be happy to sell them cause I won't be buying them...
cause I already have a table, a cabinet and
a foot stool in this color.

That doesn't mean I'll never have another piece in aqua...it's just I don't need it.
 via
Of course I'm a big fan of this sort of buffet. I have one myself but this one is especially pretty.
I usually don't really like furniture painted two tone like this...but this piece?
Well, it's perfection.

That little turquoise terrarium on top. You can get that at Hobby Lobby.
super cute
 via
A little industrial aqua...is good...very good.
chippy and reminds you of the beach
 via
This one is the perfect color and the perfect finish...very similar to my own cabinet.
  via
I wish I had a dresser missing drawers so I could do this.
Perhaps a little more turquoise-y but yummy just the same.

So at the new job...there is lots of transitional furniture.
But my favorites are the rugged to shabby pieces or industrial pieces.

Two of my favorites are one, a large chippy rugged aqua colored sideboard
with a big slab of white carrara marble on top.

Oh...it's good.

and two a large apothecary chest in the same color with library type drawer pulls.

It's big though...it would never fit in my house.

We also have some furniture made from recycled wood.
I love those pieces too.

Most of the furniture at my new job is quite large.
Most of it won't fit in my house.

I think that is probably a good thing.
No, I know it's a good thing.

I don't need furniture but it would be tempting to bring home if it was the right size for my place.

Two more days of training and then I'll find out if I'm going to enjoy the new job...really.

Or, I guess I won't know the first day....but will have a better idea.

Stay tuned....

Cacti

I'm so in love with this image!
How many times have I walked past little cactus in pots and thought..."those are ugly".
Isn't this the prettiest bowl of spiked stuff you've ever seen?

Just last night I was at Walmart Neighborhood Market and they had these
little cacti in little plastic pots just waiting to be turned into a
fabulous bouquet of pricklies.

But you must have a great bowl to plant them in.

If I find a bowl like that...I will do this.

Happy Saturday!

Pretties on a Saturday

Aprons
Silk Pillows
China in a Birdcage
(stating the obvious)
Blue Glass
Stack of Turquoise

Summer is winding down...
Labor Day being the last official holiday of the summer and all.

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day.
I'll mostly be laboring on this Labor Day Weekend.

That's the retail life

for me.

Shades of Turquoise

Many shades of turquoise....I love all of them.

Never tire of the color.

The other day I received a package in the mail from

They had recently offered me my choice of a product to review.
I chose an outdoor market umbrella.

Of course then I had to get an umbrella stand for it.
I got that the other day on clearance at Pier 1.

I was very impressed with the quality of the umbrella when I pulled it out of the box
especially considering the price.

I'll be back soon with a photo shoot of my new market umbrella all set up in the garden.

I have to say, shipping was super quick.

Turquoise in the Garden

A little turquoise in the garden is such a natural choice.
A little color of the sky dropped in the middle of all that green and flora.
What a pretty wicker bench all painted up in turquoise!
This image from a lovely blog - Laughing With Angels
I never would have thought to paint an entire pergola turquoise and it's splendid.
Just a touch....turquoise cups on a vintage tea cart.
via
Many shades of turquoise on this porch and it's all perfect together.
Isn't it?

I'm painting my potting bench a shade of turquoise and I have a few
small garden accessories I've picked up in the color that I'll show as soon
as my yard looks better.

I worked this week on filling that darn sink hole.
Progress made but still have more to do.

I just want to do the pretty stuff in the yard and leave the hard labor for someone else.
Alas, there is no one else to do it.

So I do the not so fun stuff and put off the pretty gardening for a bit.

How about you? Do you have the not fun stuff done in your yard yet?

Turquoise Inspiration

Just Because
Oh...I'd live in this apartment.
Can you imagine living in a vintage turquoise building?
Love this chippy turquoise cart.
I'm designing a new garden gate for my backyard and this one is very inspirational.
Lilacs tucked in a drawer...perfectly romantic.
A collection of turquoise glass in a tray.
What a great way to decorate a table.
Now this is a flower bed!
crusty perfection
An awning never looked so good.
This room amazes me!
The patina in this place could not be faked.
It's rustic glamour.

I never tire of turquoise. These images all collected in my

I think I could paint everything in my house turquoise and be happy.
But what makes turquoise great is having it as the accent against a bunch of plain vanilla.
I think...don't you?

Turquoise and Orange

Fall Inspiration
Gorgeous colors in this photo, yes?
I love turquoise but never thought I cared much about orange.
But they sure are a beautiful color combination as seen in these rooms.
Orange and turquoise are very glamourous in this dining room setting.
And an orange island in the kitchen sure adds some punch.
I love anything painted this color but the addition of the orange accessories
and the orange chairs just makes this room divine.
Love this room with the wall color an that red orange chandelier.
Orange keeps turquoise from being too sweet.
It can get too sweet if used with pink...although I do love it with pink.
Those bird prints are magnificent especially with those walls.
This room is so cozy yet vibrant.
Brown, turquoise, orange and white.
A great color palette.
And painting the inside of these shelves sure make that whole built-in fresh.
Love the orange velvet chair.

I ignore orange most of the year...except in October...all of a sudden it's very pretty to me.
I can see how it could be incorporated into decor that would be fun to live
with year round.
Not just at Halloween time.

Although it is so good at Halloween.
Even though many these days are throwing it out all together and doing white and black Halloweens.
A turquoise and orange Halloween would be fabulous,
don't you think?
