Biltmore Collection

I thought today I'd share a little of the furniture that I'm around all day at my new

job in design/sales at Drexel Heritage/Henredon/Thomasville here in Oklahoma City.

That table above folds out, so when not in use 

it can be a narrow sofa table or be placed against the wall if needed.

 I adore that china cabinet too. Love the legs on it.

The Biltmore Collection from Fine Furniture Design.

This collection is based on the furniture owned by Vanderbilt family.

They were world travelers and collectors so you can imagine the inspiration their belongings provide.

Some of the pieces in the collection are inspired by antique pieces at the Vanderbilt Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. 

Some are inspired by the architecture and gardens of the estate and some by possessions they had in their Paris apartment.

I always meant to go visit this magnificent estate when I lived in Georgia but I never got around to it. 

Shame on me.

 The estate looks to be out of a fairy tale and I suppose it was.
Have you been there? I know several who have gone on the tour and always come away affected.

 This little buffet was inspired by the gardens of Biltmore Estate.

 A lovely french inspired bed.

 This bed is truly meant for a queen. This queen! As in me!
I can just imagine Violet snoozing here.

 All the furniture is hand finished. Nice distressing on this piece.

 I have to say...I am loving selling furniture that I know is of fine quality.
Furniture that will stand the test of time.

 Isn't this a sweet little center hall table?

Barley twist anyone? My Mom would like this piece. I can totally see this in her house.

 
This piece appears to be a large armoire and it is....

 but it opens to reveal a highly appointed bar.

I'll share other lines of furniture at my store in the near furniture.

Have you seen this bathroom before? It's Vanessa's of Vintage White's Blog.

All that exposed copper pipe makes this bath so special. 

But then Vanessa's whole house is special.

Karen of Somewhat Quirky Design really out did herself on this little dresser.

It's just amazing! Karen is one very talented lady and know what? 

She was a sorority sister of mine way back in time when we were in college.

She wrote me one day and said..."I think I know you."

She was a couple of years ahead of me and you know how people in classes under you,

you don't remember as well as those above you. 

But yes...she and I were Delta Zeta's way back. 

Kelly of Kenilworth add two antique doors to her living room and decided they needed a little something. 

Book page wreaths were just the thing. I love the whole look of this room.

 Natalie of Sette Design shares how to propagate your own little rosemary topiaries.

I've tried to make topiaries before by growing a rosemary plant but never thought to 

snip off a large branch from and existing plant. It gets you started much faster.

House of Hipsters linked up their front room. It's super cool and super cute.

Vickie of Ranger 911 has been busy in her spare time making these sweet little knitted acorns.

They are precious little things.

Open House Sunday

French Ranch

This little 1950's ranch has gone french cottage.

 This house is a great example of what can be done with just a simple little ranch home.

It's full of romance starting at the front gate. 

Notice the concrete urns and the french lanterns.

Just paint that brick and whalla...it's immediately more frenchy.

 This home has been published in Veranda Magazine, twice!

 Love the furniture in this room. Don't like the zebra pillows. 

Really love that french day bed. 

Notice the antique doors. 

 Very pretty dining room....collections of blue and white ginger jars make stunning focal points.

 I'm sure those framed documents on the wall must be in french.

Love the rustic table and chairs.

Now...I really love this island! And it would be very easy to duplicate for not much money.

love that mirror above the sink.

 Only thing I really don't care for here is the range hood. It just seems too much.

Too faux.

All those doors out to the yard are grand. And there is a sweet little sitting area at one end of the room. 

 I like the feet on these cabinets. 

 The fridge looks like cabinets too. Personally, I think a fridge should look like a fridge.

 Very pretty but simple bedroom. More of those french doors. Isn't that fabulous?

This appears to be a very simple style brick outdoor fireplace.

They just added a nice mantel in front.

What a wonderful space! I'd fill it up with lots of potted plants and flowers

It got cold here this week and last night I got my first pumpkin cappuccino and it was soooo good.

I helped my Mom pass out Halloween candy at her house.

It was a slow year...she thought only about 700 trick or treaters.

Is it bad that I enjoyed more the few dogs that trick or treated more than any of the kids?

My Mom had dog treats for the dogs.

And the highlight of the night was a sweet little beagle named Clara who ate her treat and then 

patiently waited for another.

Funniest moment of the night was a boy dressed as a zombie.

He had several ugly oozing wounds and walked up and asked if we might have a band aid.

Too funny.
