Open House Sunday

French Ranch
 in Dallas
This little 1950's ranch has gone french cottage.
This house is a great example of what can be done with just a simple little ranch home.
It's full of romance starting at the front gate.
Notice the concrete urns and the french lanterns.
Just paint that brick and whalla...it's immediately more frenchy.
This home has been published in Veranda Magazine, twice!
Love the furniture in this room. Don't like the zebra pillows.
Really love that french day bed.
Notice the antique doors.
Very pretty dining room....collections of blue and white ginger jars make stunning focal points.
I'm sure those framed documents on the wall must be in french.
Love the rustic table and chairs.
Now...I really love this island! And it would be very easy to duplicate for not much money.
Hello....DIYers!
love that mirror above the sink.
Only thing I really don't care for here is the range hood. It just seems too much.
Too faux.
All those doors out to the yard are grand. And there is a sweet little sitting area at one end of the room.
I like the feet on these cabinets.
The fridge looks like cabinets too. Personally, I think a fridge should look like a fridge.
Very pretty but simple bedroom. More of those french doors. Isn't that fabulous?
Love all those french doors to the outside.
 sweet dressing area
lots of marble. Love the way the skirt is done on the dressing table.
 More antique doors!
 An outdoor fireplace with mantel.
This appears to be a very simple style brick outdoor fireplace.
They just added a nice mantel in front.
Huge back patio where all those french doors lead.
What a wonderful space! I'd fill it up with lots of potted plants and flowers

It got cold here this week and last night I got my first pumpkin cappuccino and it was soooo good.
I helped my Mom pass out Halloween candy at her house.
It was a slow year...she thought only about 700 trick or treaters.

Is it bad that I enjoyed more the few dogs that trick or treated more than any of the kids?

My Mom had dog treats for the dogs.
And the highlight of the night was a sweet little beagle named Clara who ate her treat and then
patiently waited for another.

Funniest moment of the night was a boy dressed as a zombie.
He had several ugly oozing wounds and walked up and asked if we might have a band aid.

Too funny.

Open House Sunday

French Cottage in Texas
built 1930
The outside of this cottage is charming. The whole look is all about symmetry.
Precious dormers...shuttered front door and windows.
Front patio with matching benches on each side and matching planters on either side of the door.
Symmetry can be so good.
Inside, the house has a modern french feel.
French fireplace here and over it....modern art.
Huge vintage poster art makes a bold statement in the room.
Dining room has a huge piece of art too and very modern furniture.
I'm guessing this room is on the backside of the house.
The slate fireplace is an obvious recent addition.
The dining room is light and bright.
Nice kitchen...nothing too fancy here.
Here we have a very unusual ceiling.
I do like that dandelion light fixture in this space.
Master bedroom is very traditional.
But the bath is very modern.
I like this minimalist double sink vanity. I'd do different mirrors though.
Either something very antique - y like venetians or something very rustic or something
with chrome accents.
Nice little outdoor living room. It's very casual and looks like a great place to hang.
The view to the pool is pleasant.
A few laps here on a lazy Summer Sunday would be ideal.

Open House Sunday

Shingled Cottage in Dallas
built 1923
I love a house sided in shingles, don't you?
You usually think of them by the ocean in the northeast but they look just as good anywhere.
I love the gray color of this home too.
And the wild landscaping!
The flagstone paths leading up to a rounded stoop is welcoming.
This cottage is all set for the 4th with the flag hung outside.
Beautiful details inside. The color palette is very soothing.
Original sconces on the walls in here. I love the way there is an arch around the front door.
I wonder if there is a full entry or just a little space there?
I've seen many homes around here with similar fireplaces and they usually don't have mantels.
I think this one has been added and I love the look of it.
A perfect solution for a not normal fireplace.
Love those built in shelves too on either side of the arched doorway.
Big windows all the way down to the baseboards is a very nice touch.
Diamond paned windows are always so cottagy. Love those.
This dining room is decorated sparingly. I think it might need a rug but little else.
I'd love to have a kitchen this big.
Although I know it's not big..it's much bigger than my galley kitchen.
The person who lives here must be a serious cook to need two stoves!
Looks like there is a small mudroom beyond.
Hmmm...microwave is in a different area. That is a little strange but you work with what you've got.
Love the breakfast area. Sweet table and chairs.
Another dining area? This one is part of the large family living area.
Nice solution for a super huge tv. Adore the drapes in this room.
Perfect spot to watch tv at night.
This home is quite large.
It looks small from the front but is over 3,000 square feet which explains this large area with stairs.
Very nice bedroom...it could use a little softening.
Love this tub and the fluffy white towels. Cute curtains too.
Lots of cabinets for storage but it's a bit boring.
Yikes! Even more cabinets on the other side. Perfect his and her's.
Here we go...all set up and ready for the 4th! Very cute.
My Mom would love this room because she is crazy for this type of shutters.
She has them in several rooms of her house and would have them in every room if she could find
enough of them.
Another bath.
I love the huge windows in this house!
Isn't this the perfect bedroom for grandkids to stay in?
Looks like lots of fun could be had up here. Feels like a bunk house...or rather a medieval bunkhouse.
Nice spot to dine outside...Just imagine this with many pots of flowers.
This home is just pretty all around. I would want a patio right off those french doors...though.
That would be a must have.
Looks like the perfect place to have a Fourth of July picnic to me!

Google Reader is leaving us....if you use it...I have added a BlogLovin gadget on my sidebar.
I've been using bloglovin for awhile and really enjoy it.
If you follow me there...I'll follow you back.
Although, I'll admit...I like to just use my Blogroll to check on what everyone is doing.

Have a great Sunday...I'll be back later with Mod Mix Monday!
