Kitchens

In Blue
I don't know if I love this kitchen because of it's mint cabinets or because of those big pink
hydrangeas surrounded by all that mint.
I do think it has to do with the touch of brass in the lanterns too.
I'm loving pink with brass these days.
So I haven't been getting much done around the house currently.
I'm busy selling furniture and helping others make their houses look great and so mine
is on the back burner....
but the other night I started installing these bin pulls on my kitchen cabinets.
It was going pretty good until one of the drawers had a hole that wasn't quite in the right spot.
Meaning I needed to adjust the hole with my drill and that is where I stopped.
Because my drill was not charged. I'm charging now and hope to get back on track.
But I'm not feeling my bin pulls.
I had to get the ones I got cause they were the only ones that fit my existing holes.
I'd rather have had some like above.
I'm hoping this will not end up being a case of that I'll never like them because they weren't exactly
what I wanted. Might be!
I'm hoping I'll like them more once all are on.
I was going through some of my kitchen pins on Pinterest and noticed that I'd pinned several with
blue walls.
My kitchen walls need a change...and perhaps this is the direction I will go.
I love the nook that the sink sets in on this one. I have a sink faucet just like that one -
waiting to be installed. I hesitate cause I want a new sink and a new backsplash to go with it.
And how long will that be?
I know I just need to go ahead and install it!

New Vintage Kitchen

I found the photos of this new vintage kitchen on the MLS listings of my neighborhood a few weeks ago.
The house sold super quick and I'm sure it was because of the kitchen.
Actually the only room they showed on the listing was the kitchen.
The kitchen lies just beyond those arched windows above.
I love that this kitchen though new...has a very vintage feel.
This kitchen would have originally been two rooms. Kitchen and breakfast nook.
This floor looks vintage but it's not...it's new but looks old.
The layout of this kitchen is unusual in that the sink is in the middle of the room and not at the window.
Here's the house on the outside - a pale yellow brick tudor.
I used to hate yellow brick till I moved into a yellow brick house and now I really like it.
Dare I say love it.
Back to the kitchen. These photos I found on an MLS site but a little searching and I found
lots of photos on the kitchen designer's site.
This kitchen was designed by Urban Kitchens in Oklahoma City.

I love their work. They designed my friend Nancy's kitchen.
They are who I would use if I were to totally redo my own kitchen.

marble counters - oh yes!

Tile all the way to the ceiling. Do you like that? I go and forth on it.
 lights came from Restoration Hardware

I was super happy to find these photos on line cause I'll admit...I did a few drive bys at dark
when their lights were on and I could see there was a fabulous new kitchen in there and I was dying
to see what it looked like.

Are you tired of all white kitchens yet?
I never will tire of them. They have always been my favorite.
My whole adult life I've wished for an all white kitchen.
That was one of the must haves when I was house shopping.

Vintage Kitchens

and what is up with me
or not up with me
I'm home today and cleaning my kitchen.
top to bottom

Everything in my house has been neglected since mid March
when I started working all the time in furniture sales.

 via
Of course cleaning the kitchen got me to thinking about changes to the kitchen.
And so I hit Pinterest to look at some of my favorites.
 via
I wish I had a spot for some open shelving.
 via
love the marble counters in this photo
 via
This kitchen is cute and quaint.
 via
What a magnificent stove!
I love the way this one is set up with a shelf above.

So I have laid on the sofa for a week now....

Done absolutely nothing.

Time to tell you what is up with me.

I was let go from my big furniture job for low sales on July 30th.
My manager said she'd give me a glowing reference if I needed it.

I only sold $54,000 in merchandise in the month of July.
Not enough.
I needed to sell about 10,000 more.

In the time I was there I sold over $200,000 in four months.

Not enough.
Not that the next person they hire will do better...but it's worth it to them
to look for another.

On to the next thing.

I don't know what that thing will be.

So I pretty much did nothing for a week.

Dogs didn't mind.

Dogs never complain about anything I do or don't do.

Good news is...I'll be here more.

Bad news is....I've got to make money so I'll be looking for another job.

But for today....I'm just going to clean the kitchen.

That will be enough.

Vintage Kitchen Stoves

 via
Vintage stoves...I'm pretty much obsessed with them.
Oh....how I want one!
As I said earlier this week one of the drawers under my range top is all crooked.
The track is bent which means I have to buy another track and install it.
Not a fun job. I've done it before.

And my wall oven does not maintain a constant temperature.
I set it and it gets up to whatever temperature I've set it at and then it immediately starts to cool down.
I'm sure it's probably the thermostat that is acting up.

But oh...how it makes me want to just pull out the wall oven and take out the range top
and get an old stove.
 via
A nice vintage stove like these.
 via
They are dreamy.
 via
They are not too expensive. But to have one refurbished IS expensive.
 via
Aren't these stoves amazing?
 via
The gorgeous centerpiece in a vintage kitchen.
 via
Yes, I want one badly.
I see them time to time on Craigslist.
Here is one currently listed for $400.
This one for $500.
If I coud haul one of these home by myself...I'd probably already have one.
But I can't.
A more practical alternative would be this Big Chill new model and it could be delivered.
It does look some what vintage. And it has all the modern conveniences like instant lighting burners.
Plus the top is easy to clean.
They come in a wonderful selection of colors...but I'd just get a vintage white
although the yellow really is pretty.
Or do you think a White Viking would be better?

These are the things I day dream about....which stove will I get when I can get a stove.

I ponder it like its the most important decision ever.

Never mind that I can't afford to do anything about anything at present.

But when the time comes that I can...I'll know exactly what I want.

Today my Mom is coming up and we are going shopping!
Not for stoves...we are just going to mess around and see if there is anything we need.

Of course we always need something!

Have a Happy Saturday!
