Open House Sunday - American Horror Story - Coven

Through the Witch's Gate to
Mrs. Ribochau's Academy for Exceptional Young Women on American Horror Story.
This is our Open House this Sunday....a tour of the Girl's school on this season's American Horror Story - Coven.
You can watch the first episode online here.

I actually watched it on Amazon and paid to do so because I wanted it in HD so I could grab these screenshots.
Outside it's the Perfect Antebellum Home
Inside it's all about the greige.
It's very Restoration Hardware meets Aidan Gray.
Look at the details in this house! The moldings and chandeliers...the transoms!
Chandeliers and white furniture abound in this home.
Paintings of Past witches of note done gallery style of course.
A white grand staircase with ebony handrails.
The pale wood floors add to the light feel of the place. Light floors and yet the staircase steps are dark.
The view into the parlor. Impressive chandelier.
This set could be a page from an Aidan Grey catalog.
Only thing I do not like in this house are the drapes. They are too fussy.
brass candlesticks and marble fireplace mantel
Just adore the big doors with transoms in this place.
A simple quaint girl's bedroom. But this is the only bedroom seen so far...
who knows what else is in this house! We haven't seen the bathrooms yet either.
And here's the kitchen I am gaga about.
Recognize that light fixture? I know I've seen it for sale online somewhere.
See how all the cabinets look like free standing furniture?
It's looks like three hutches instead of regular cabinets.

I just love this kitchen!
gray buffet in the back and huge door with transom
Love the wall mount faucet and the little white pots of herbs on the shelf above the sink.
There to the left is a french pastry table. I've always wanted one of those.
Huge corbels in the house flank the arches of the doorways.
Hmmmm...brass light switches.
I've never seen that before and I like it.
Great vintage fridge. Now that's an ice box!
Dining room in candlelight. Love the mercury glass vase full of lemons.
And you wondered why I was talking about how beautiful this house is.
Gorgeous wall lights...very french which fits because New Orleans has a strong french history.
Cordelia who is head mistress potters around in her greenhouse/laboratory.
She's mixing up potions and spells at her potting bench.
What an incredible space! Turquoise tables....rustic brick walls...test tubes,
candelabras, ferns and industrial brick a brack.
Industrial lighting overhead.
A great house to view every week and sites of the surrounding city of New Orleans.
This show is such a treat already this year....a good spooky story and wonderful sets!

I can't wait to see if we see the bathrooms next week!

Is that wrong that I'm just as excited about the sets as I am the story?

All my favorite movies are like that...why shouldn't tv be the same?

American Horror Story - Coven

So Wednesday night I watched the premier of American Horror Story - Coven.
It did not disappoint.
It's all about witches in New Orleans.

American Horror Story has been my favorite TV show for the past two years.
(yes, even more than Mad Men)

If you haven't watched season 1 and season 2, I am jealous cause you
can watch them on Netflix - one episode right after another.

I can't imagine how wonderful that would be cause I had to wait a week between each episode.

If you missed this season's premiere - you can watch it now at On Demand or the equivalent on your cable company.
These are the witches in modern day New Orleans.
They are attending a boarding school for witches run by Jessica Lange's character and her daughter.
The episode starts off with Kathy Bates.
She was a sweet heart in "Misery" compared to what she in this.
Truly demented.
This image from the preview videos now makes sense...somewhat.
And it is creepy. The scene involving a minotaur made me feel ill.
Taissa Farmiga is back as Zoe but she'll always be Violet to me.
Jessica Lange is the Supreme Witch
Evan Peters is back as a frat boy. His name is Kyle but he'll always be Tate to me.
Although last year as Kit he was very convincing.
This moment where Zoe (Violet) and Kyle (Tate) meet at a frat party was just about the most romantic thing ever.
I've wanted them back together ever since she banished him away from her in AHS 1.
That was soooo sad for Tate and now here they are together again, finally!
But it gets sad fast again.
Emma Roberts plays a Lindsay Lohan type movie star/witch.
In real life she is the real girlfriend of Evan Peters.
I didn't know this...and wish I didn't know.
I want him only for Violet/Zoe.
Frances Conroy turns up early on looking particularly strange.
Not sure what her story is...she was only in a couple of scenes.
Lily Rabe is here as a witch that gets burned at the stake early in the episode.
She'll somehow be back though. She can bring things back to life from the dead.
I'm guessing she can do it for herself too.
Sarah Paulson plays the head of the school and daughter to Supreme witch, Jessica Lange.
A lot of this first episode rotated around characters seeking eternal youth.
Angela Basset seems to have found this in life for real.
When she turns up in the episode she lets everyone know that "She's Got The Power!"
Patti Lupone will be in future episodes.
I'm sure she will be wickedly amazing.

So far....several of these characters are dead as of the first episode but they'll be back!

Not sure how..but they will.
Little Jamie Brewer who met a cruel sudden demise in AHS 1 is back as the voice of reason in the
witch school.
Gabourey Sidibe is a witch and human voodoo doll.

But here is also why you should watch.
The school for witches is all white and greige.

The kitchen is all stand alone white furniture.

I just wanted to stare at the kitchen.
I will be pausing when I watch On Demand to soak it in.

So if you don't want to watch it for the scares...watch it for the decor!

I watched this episode at 10pm and then waited for it to repeat at midnight to watch again.
But I fell asleep on the sofa while watching.

It is not good to fall asleep while watching AHS.
I could hear the show and my mind was making up the visuals.

Leading toward some really mind freaked nightmares on my end.

I hope not to do that again.

Did you watch the premiere?

What did you think?
Some are saying it's not scary enough...but I thought it plenty scary.

Oh...and...

This is still going on...you still have time to enter.
