Mod Mix Monday #70

This is my last opportunity to show blue hydrangeas on the blog till
next Spring and really it's too late in the season to show these now but...
I adore blue hydrangeas.
Yesterday I pointed out a room that I felt was just made perfect by the hydrangeas on the table
and today this is the same thing.
This room probably would not have stopped me except for those blue flowers.
But then I looked at the rest of the room and love other details in it.
That sofa table is so rustic and good against the aqua blue walls.
I like those flat candlesticks too.
That screen is pretty wonderful also.
But its the hydrangeas that just bring it all to life.

So much good fall stuff happening in last week's Mod Mix Monday...
I'll be showing some of mine soon.
I don't really do fall until after Halloween.
But I'll do a little before I start showing Halloween.

Much of next month will be devoted to Halloween here on the blog.
If you don't like Halloween you might not want to hang out here.

Ok, here are the highlights of last week.
Look at Custom Comforts perfect early fall porch.
Martha of Leone Design painted this mid century dresser mustard yellow
leaving the drawers its original wood tone.
Her philosophy is every home needs at least one piece of mid century furniture.
I think she is right. I still need my one piece.
I'm still regretting a mod wingback chair I saw once and didn't get.
Kate of Chic on a Shoestring shared her mercury glass pumpkin collection she acquired by
haunting TJ Maxx repeatedly. That was my plan too but it went awry.
Lisa at Fern Creek Cottage made herself a vintage looking bread board.
All it took was a cheap pizza board bought at Target, some distressing,
the addition of steel wool stain and a little wax.
Now I want to make one of these and I had no idea I wanted one till I saw her's.
I also used the steel wool and vinegar stain myself Saturday night and it works very well.
Leaves you smelling like vinegar though and my fingernails are stained.
I'll show what I used it on this week.
Stacey of A Sort of Fairytale updated her kitchen by painting her backsplash white.
It really changed up her vintage kitchen for the better.
I love a white backsplash....you just can't beat it.
Laura of Whimsical Perspective painted this piece for herself and added the
fantastically cloudy vintage mirror. I am crazy for the color of it with that wall color.
Isn't that mirror great?
Lavender Cottage found this wicker sofa at Goodwill for $90.
She painted it and covered the cushions and look at it now.
I love this thing.
Angela of Number Fifty Three turned a 1990's hutch into this magnificent piece.
She took the doors off, painted it white and shabbied it up.
I love it, especially filled with the things she's put in it.

I'm always amazed by all the things you accomplish each week.
Can't wait to see what is up this week.

Remember anything old made over to be new...anything new changed up to look old.
New and old together...

Lots of pretties to look at. Makes me feel like I've been doing nothing but hobbling around. I should have sat down and created. Famous last words...

Hi. I wonder how/why the photo of my scarf curtains isn't in the party photos? My caption is there, but it is under the photo of some random photo that I've never seen before. Is this something that you changed . . . Or a glitch in the linky tool software ?

Hey, that's my china cabinet! The white looks great; it certainly changes the whole look. I do like mine in it's original state, filled with lots and lots of tea things, but what a treat to see it made over.
