White Furniture

I Must Be Crazy!
Here's a sneak peek at my newly shabby chic'd buffet.
I'm styling the room now....I don't know if I'll show by itself or just wait till the home tour.
But you'll see all next week for sure.
It was so painful to take sandpaper to my newly, perfectly painted, creamy, white furniture.
Oh....and shabby chicing seven pieces of furniture takes like 6 hours
plus another hour to add a teeny tiny bit of glaze.
I just wanted a bitty bit in the crevices.
But I love it now that it's done.
The best part was screwing in these new knobs.
I'd bought them at Hobby Lobby, two years ago.
They still carry them if you like them and want them.
Hobby Lobby has the greatest knobs at the best prices especially with a coupon
or when they are 50% off which is like at least once a month.
If you don't have Hobby Lobby in your town.
You can order through their website.
Chairs are awaiting their fabric. It will be here Monday.
So you know I'm getting ready for this -
My house will be shown on Thursday, April 7th.

Considering that it took me 4 weeks to paint all this furniture.
(which does not include all the prep that went in to this back in the fall - lots and lots of sanding and repairs)
I must be crazy in that I'm going to repaint this table this weekend.
It's small but the top folds out so it's bigger than you think.
My friend, Deidra gave me this table quite awhile ago knowing full well I was going to repaint it.
I've been wanting to paint it for quite awhile.
Now I just have to decide what color...either creamy white (of course will look good)
or light periwinkle?
Gotta preference? I'll check back after priming and I will go with whichever gets the most votes -
white or periwinkle.

Don't forget about my awesome giveaway from Shabby Apple!

You get to choose which dress.....
I'll choose a winner on April 15.

Just go to this post to enter.

well.....is the table in the room with the creamy white? Or is it in the room with the pink upholstery?
Or....oh, Hell.
I vote for periwinkle.

Nita, the buffet looks amazing! And thanks for saying that Hobby Lobby has a website, I never even checked. I bought knobs the last time I went out west as there are no HL in Boston. I love those knobs. And the little table should be both white and periwinkle!

Nita,

Looks like you've done a great job with the painting of the furniture. Can't wait to see what you did for fabric.

I know it's not your style but I kind of like that table the way it is. I think the black at the base looks like a tarantula.

Thanks everyone for your input. I keep going back and forth about the color. This table is in my living room...room with the pink sofa and chair and teal colored fireplace. I'm sort of afraid to introduce another color. But I love periwinkle and want something painted that color other than my front door.

Oh.....Urban Cottage suggested I keep it as is. The finish is not good on it. It was sloppily painted with matte craft paint. So I think it has to be painted...I'm positive it can look better. A tablet that looks like a tarantula...is not a good thing...I don't think...but then Urban Cottage's place is fantastic and I do trust his opinion.....

I so love this buffet...I am back to look again. Just wondering if you added any mouldings to this piece, or did you buy it with all the lovely details?
Thanks,

Your buffet is gorgeous! You did a beautiful job on it. The detailing is beautiful and the crystal knobs are the perfect touch. I love it! I vote for periwinkle for your little table. It might be fun to have just one piece in that color.

You must have something periwinkle. Why not? The buffet is amazing and you showed incredible restraint with the glaze.

Nita ~ I, like many others I'm sure, have patiently waited for your diningroom furniture reveal, and although you've only given us a peek, I am NOT disappointed! Your sideboard is STUNNING! It doesn't matter how long it took, the results speak for themselves! I can hardly wait to see the rest!

I love your buffet. The white and the shabby looks great. I know what you mean about sanding and making a piece look shabby, but it gives the piece so much more character.
I think you should paint the little table periwinkle.

I agree, the knob is beautiful and unique. I prefer the periwinkle for the table especially if your house is already painted with white. Have a great week ahead!

I loved your landscaping lesson! I noticed that tree right away and knew it would be trouble.

I have enjoyed your blog so much, thank you for sharing yourself and your home. You have amazing taste.

I vote periwinkle with a creamy white top.

Great job on the buffet! Anxious to see the new fabric on your chairs!

My vote is for periwinkle! Or someone mentioned periwinkle AND white - you could do both the way Miss Mustard Seed has done ivory and blue on some of her pieces. That would look great too!

Light periwinkle will pop!
You will so enjoy the fruit of all that labor! What a reveal that will be!
