Pink Chairs

For Valentines?
 via
I'm working on a project that involved me looking up lots of different sorts of chairs online.
In honor of fastly approaching Valentine's Day...here are some scrumptious pink chairs.
That bathroom above is like a wedding cake with pink accents, isn't it?
I love everything about it from the marble to the white cabinets, the fixtures, the roses and the chair.
 via
I'm not usually one for black furniture but the accents of pink make this really work for me.
By the way...I picked up my marble for my kitchen island and it is perfect!
My island is currently white but a different shade of white than my cabinets.
I'm thinking I should paint the island....black was the first color I thought of...but
I'm not really a black furniture person.

But put a big splash of pink on it and I am.
We'll discuss the island in the near future.
Oh...a little mid century modern...please...yes!
These bumble gum pink chairs with the tulip table just send me.
If you've read this blog for awhile...you'll know I want a Saarinen tulip table in my dining room.
I've been looking for a used one...but
I can get a new one from IKEA for $199

But then, you know I have a lovely dining room table already
so this is never going to happen unless I find one for like $50.

Ok, back to the pink chairs.
 via
Love the shape of this beauty and the pink velvet.
I love lots in this image. First the room! Can you believe that room with all the chippy
turquoise paint? The dress is a little polyester looking to me but it's a nice color.
But what I really want to point out is how that chair is all tied up. Really love that.
Oh...and I love this girl's hair. I'm sure this photo came from a bridal site.
And finally, this is the way to makeover a little bentwood chair.
Hot Pink!
This is just a precious little desk for a young girl.
Hey, I'd like it for this old girl.

Ok, I'm going back to my project.
I hope to share it soon.
I told myself I'd work all day and night tonight on it.

No rest for the wicked!

Oh...two more things - my sweet talented friend, Valorie aka The Visual Vamp lost her precious
Alberto suddenly two days ago.

I'm heartbroken for her.
I loved reading about her and Alberto's life in New Orleans where they both taught Tango lessons
and celebrated life each day together.

Alberto had a long running heart condition but his sudden death was not expected.

I've been thinking of her a lot ever since learning of his death.

Valorie is going to need all our support to keep going.
She's a dynamo but this will be a huge set back for her.

One more bit of sad news...

Ricki Jill of the blog Art @ Home suddenly lost her Bonnie Blue last weekend.
Little Bonnie Blue

She wrote me shortly after it happened wanting my words of wisdom since I have
been through the sudden death of a dog at an early age.

I'm afraid I didn't have any words of wisdom just words of
understanding having been there.

Same for Valorie...

I have cried and cried for both of these women the last few days.

I hurt so much for both of these women because I've been there in that dark place they are in now
and it's not a place I want to go back to.

And yet, we all will in our lives over and over...the trick is to rise up out of the pit
and live again.

I know it helped me so much to know I had friends all over the world that cared about me
during the bad times and I want both of these women to know how much I care about them now.

If you know them...go by and leave some words of comfort.

Thank you...

Bright Pastels

Happy Colors
I'll admit it...I LOVE pastels! Especially bright ones
I'd be so happy living in these spaces with these lively bright colors.
The bright green against the aqua walls is amazing!
And I don't usually like green very much. (except outside - love it outside)
I don't like different colored walls as a rule either but here...it's wonderful.
Oh...I'd love this room for an artist studio slash green house!
Which by the way...I've been doing some canvas painting.
I'll share soon.
This room is an example that you can still have bright pastels without saturating the room.
I'd be more likely to do this sort of room.
But after the others it seems kind of boring.
And the bits of bright pastels in this room really make it.
It would be dull without them.

Do you like bright pastels in a room?
Of course I love them at Easter time. Really I love them any time.

I did have a bright yellow rug with big pink flowers in my living room.
Because I was going to embrace bright pastels..but I grew to hate it.
I think I just put the bright in the wrong place.
I searched for photos of the rug but by the time I started this blog...I was already so sick of it,
I barely showed it.
Here is another little bit of it.
Then I just realized with my covering of my new ottoman in this fabric...
I'm totally headed back that way again.
I do love them!
Although I think this has enough brown and beige in it to ground it in the room.
I guess you love what you love and it always works it's way back into your decor.

Pink for Fall

Unexpected but Fabulous, just the same.
You don't think of pink as a fall color but oh...it looks good mixed with golden browns for fall.
pink pipes would make anyone's plumbing more fun
more pink and golden brown
Christian Dior Fall 2012
ballet influenced clothing
Let's just look at these shoes close up. They are like toe shoes but with heels!
I'd give anything...(well, almost anything....wouldn't give up a weenie dog)
to be able to wear these.
But personally I don't wear heels any higher than an inch.
My theory, I like to keep my butt as far away from eye level as possible.
I figure wearing high heels just puts it up where it's more likely to be seen.
I prefer it down lower where maybe it's width will go unnoticed.
Of course these phone booths are cute in red and they are cuter in pink.
I wonder if they still have these in London.
You sure can't find pay phones around here any more.
Pink velvet sofa in the garden...yes, it works.
And I do love this pink love seat surrounded by the warm pinkish grey.
I could just imagine fall leaves scattered about.

Hot Pink

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Though not the first shade of pink I would choose.
There is no denying it looks great in all these examples.

Pink Chair

Just Because
I'm posting this photo just because I love it
and because I haven't had time to create any of the posts that I intended this week.
I am making headway on my sewing....but the gutter guy showed up Wednesday morning
and was here all day....till 7:30pm!

He was making me feel really uncomfortable.
Telling me what pretty eyes I have and what a pretty girl I am and just generally creepy.
And ringing my door bell and asking me all kinds of questions....
so that I really couldn't do anything while he was here.
He kept saying that I looked like trouble.
(I think he'd been talking to my painters....no...I know he had)
I thought he would never leave. Towards the end he was hanging around my front door
and acting like he wanted to come in....I gave him ice water...but did NOT ask him in.

Next day, which was Thursday, my Brother in Law came up to fix the electrical wire that he cut
during the taking down of my carport. This was an all day project for the both of us.

Its still not up to code but its where I can now plug an extension cord into it
and get into my garage again till we finish it.

Then....we opened the garage door for the first time since my new roof was put on.

Ugh....there is dust and shingles and junk everywhere from when they put my roof on.
So this is going to be a whole other day of cleaning.
I didn't realize the trash that would fall from the roof or I would have covered everything in there.
I just had to shut the door and not think about it. It was late in the day anyway.

All my Halloween jack-o-lanterns covered in black dust. I'm sure they'll hose off and be ok....
but how discouraging to find a big project to do when I still have the storm windows to clean
and get back on the house.

Times like these....I think...hmmmm maybe I do need a man in my life.

Good thing I didn't see this till after the gutter guy.
I might have been tempted to take him up on his offer of going out some time.
I could have gone out with him, just long enough for him to clean my garage and get
my storm windows cleaned and back on.

No...no...I do have standards.

Oh Little Pink Chair

Seize the Crochet Hook!
The other day I saw this cute little crocheted chair on a link party.
It was made by Clara at AmiEggs

Something about it seemed very familiar....

Very cute...
It looks like my pink chair!

You can make your own pink chair....Go to the AmiEgg Etsy Store.
To purchase a pattern. She has many other cute things to crochet too.

I love to crochet but haven't in a long while.

I told my friend Deidra just the other day...
 "If I'd known
in my twenties,
what I know now,
I wouldn't have spent
so much time
crocheting!"

Youth is not to be wasted on crocheting.
She laughed and laughed at this because she wasted her twenties doing drugs and having meaningless sex and doesn't regret it one bit but thinks my crocheting in my twenties is very sad indeed.

In my youth I thought it great fun to drag out the ol' yarn and patterns and crochet a whole Christmas tree worth of snowflakes or make scarves or doilies! Doilies!! Doilies? WTF?

I think I even said to boyfriends..."Not tonight....I have some crocheting I want to do".

Clara at AmiEgg who designed this little pink chair is 23. My advice to Clara is to go out and have fun and save the crocheting for middle age. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. I want her to learn what I didn't know till it was too late. Clara's creations are little pieces of art. She creates these patterns herself...they are quite brilliant. Not really to be compared to the snowflakes and granny squares I was making. But you are only young once.

What was I thinking back then?

Mr. Knight in Shining Armor was going to come charging into my living room on his horse and tell me to put down my crochet hook and ride off into the sunset with him?

I came to my senses in my early thirties and knew I had to leave the apartment to meet him. I did eventually meet him...and the irony is,
when all was said and done,
my time probably would have been better spent crocheting!

But if anyone reading this is in their twenties and is sitting at home crocheting....stop... put down your hook and yarn and go, get out...out...out!

Because when you are middle aged, you'll realize that you should have been having as much fun as possible and crocheting is really not THAT much fun.

Of course if someone had given me this advice when I was younger...I wouldn't have listened....especially when I saw things as cute as these...

I thought I had my whole life to be out dancing and flirting....but I was wrong....I had my whole life to be at home crocheting. Still....these are pretty irresistible.
