Open House Sunday

You know I love vintage and historic homes.
I admire modern homes but I could never live in one...but this one....this one I could live in.
What do you think of it?
I love the large expanse of white brick in the living room and the furniture
is super eclectic
which is another reason why I love this home.

How about that yellow niche in the wall? Super pretty...I say.
And of course I like that blue table.
Well, it's pretty obvious why I like this house...it's got lots of vintage going on
with it's furnishings. All of this would be right at home in my own house.
Here we have traditional cabinets in the kitchen. Love the addition of the ladder.
 Bohemian bedroom
Oh...this bathroom is over the top great.
I love that sort of sink. Love the white tile every where.
And of course everyone needs french doors to the outside off the bath.
This house is out in the country where this idea would work.
You might get out of the shower one day to find a cow in your bathroom though.
Which actually sound divine to me....or is it bovine to me!
I love the way the porch almost looks like it's still being constructed.
It's not...but it gives that feeling and I like it!

What do you think of this one?
I'm sorry...I have no idea where I found this house.
It is labeled HOMESetc but I couldn't find a website.
I think it's a overseas magazine.

I got a new neighbor across the street last week.
My friend Harold has moved to Chicago.
I'll miss him but the new neighbors put out loads of
pumpkins on the porch and in the flower beds.

So I like them already.
Plus they have two very nice dogs.

Open House Sunday

That 70's House!
built 1976
I'm usually not one for 70's architecture.
But this house is just cool.
Sure it could use a little paint and few updates but it's wonderful the way the
architecture is connected to it's surroundings.
All the glass takes advantage of the surrounding views.
It's a 70's dream house for sure.
Granted, it's big.
Huge foyer and big double doors make for a grand entrance.
I hate this room painted in red.
Nothing more needed than a neutral background to compliment the nature outside.
Wood floors would be nice instead of the stone. That would warm it up.
The red is just so bad. But just a little paint will fix that.
You couldn't have any secrets in this house...your life is on display.
The kitchen needs updating for sure.
Love the stone covered walls of the adjacent room.
Lots of sitting areas in this house.
The stonework is really pretty.
This space much more intimate for cozy evenings by the fire.
I'd paint those walls white right away.
Big open rooms
Access to the back deck.
This part of the house looks like a charming little cabin.
Wonderful stone patios
 What a gorgeous property!
See the full listing here.

Could you live in a 70's house?
I would have said I couldn't but after seeing this one...I could.
Of course it would mean changing all my furniture.

Mod Mix Monday #120

Super Pretty!
I really like this space.
I am finally painting my living room and dining room white.
Much like this.
If I didn't have to work this week...it would be done in a couple of days.
But since I have to work...I'm hoping to get it done some time next weekend.
Of course deciding to paint the rooms has led me to think I need to change quite a few other things.
But I can tell you right now...I'm super excited about the new color in my house.
Or rather having less color.

For you see...
I have not been showing my living room and dining room much here because I just was so
over the wall color.
I was tired of all of it. I had grown to hate it.
Last year, I didn't even want to put up my Halloween or Christmas because I just didn't
want to see it all again with the yellow walls.

I think this new wall color will give me a new lease of life.
Yes, indeed color can change your life.
Or at least I'm sure it will change mine.

Now on to Mod Mix Monday....so much good stuff this past week.
Ethereal Plus What I Love gave us a tour of her living room.
It's such a pretty space, all of it.
But I was struck by how casual this chair looked with the addition of the ruffled slipcover.
Notice the pillow? Isn't it something? A cute something!
Oh...I'd like it with a couple of weenies on it.
Tanya of Twelve O Eight created this cute chalkboard for Halloween.
She used a new product that will turn anything into a chalkboard.
Oh...this has me thinking!
I love the crow perched on the frame.
Homecoming painted a little tray with pink stripes.
It's just perfect for her home. Super cute.
Rachel of Maison de Pax took a rather plain mirror and turned it into this fabulously
distressed antique number. She just added strips of molding, painted and distressed it.
I won't be looking at big cheap mirrors in the same way ever again.
I definitely need one of these.
Little pumpkins all in a row.
Michele of Sew Sweet Vintage made these cute little chenille pumpkins.
Aren't they sweet? And easy to make too.
Karen of Some What Quirky Design dried the last hydrangeas of the summer
and composed a beautiful fall mantel with them.
Oh...the colors in this are amazing. And notice the old gas heater parts included.

As usual an amazing assortment of projects.

Mod Mix Monday #115

Do you like capiz shells? I do in the right setting and these seem pretty perfect here.
I love the white on white of this room and the dark floor.

Here we are now at Mod Mix Monday #115.
Each week I find this party to have a really high quality of entries.

Here we go with my favorites from last week...
Kim of Reposhture Studio really got her creative juices flowing on this one.
Never mind the cute little dresser she painted here....what I think is brilliant are her accessories!
Little cartoon illustrations! They are so whimsical and I'd be tempted to just have them up all the time
not just for a photo shoot.
Michelle of New England - Style showcased the coastal bedroom she created in a vintage home.
Oh...I'd love to vacation in this calm lovely bedroom.
Rachel of Remastered Relics painted a coffee table in a great blue color and painted the top
in chalkboard paint. Super cute...isn't it?
Ann Marie of Twice Lovely painted an old vanity in a vintage industrial style.
I love the metallic paint and the fun knobs.
Great combo for sure.
Rachel of Maison de Pax made herself a roman shade using mini blinds.
I love the way she painted them!

There were some favorite garden themed entries too...I'll show them tomorrow.

Mod Mix Monday #114

Love this iron bed turned summer sofa...don't you?
A big bunch of brightly colored pillows makes it the ideal spot on a summer's day.
I'd like to see it out on a porch but this little room will do.

As usual many pretty and inspiring things created by Mod Vintage Life readers this last week.
Lets peek at my favorites, shall we?
Cindy at Cottage Instincts named this table "Victoria" and she's befitting the name
with all her elegant turnings and scallops. Love her in the chippy white finish.
Cindy of Oakview Cottage added some turquoise and red splashes of color to her sideboard in the dining room. I love how cheerful it is.
Marty of A Stroll Thru Life turned some really tacky knick knacks into exquisite brass look a likes.
Gail of Purple Hues and Me was inspired by some cute burlap owls she saw that another blogger had bought. She decided to make some of her own and put her own spin on them.
She has a tutorial on how to make your own.
Rita or Suburbs Mama shared her play room / guest room.
This bed from IKEA really caught my eye all decked out in fun pillows.
Love the wall stencil she did in the room too.
Cyndi of Blue Star Antiques whipped this small buffet into shape.
I can just imagine some baskets on those blue shelves.
Denise of Bella Dreams has been working on her outdoor potting area.
She just got it all put together...plants to follow soon.
It's pretty as it is...I can just imagine how it will be full of growing things!
Can't wait to see!
