Sunday Open House

Stone Cottage
 built 1935
This little stone cottage is in the Hollywood neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.

Oh...my I love the strip of green grass down the middle of the drive way, don't you?
I love the color of the front door too.
I think the landscaping could be improved but I imagine this is low maintenance.
Very nice front porch...oh look across the street...more cute little cottages!
Reminds me of my own neighborhood. Unfortunately, houses in my neighborhood have been selling
so fast or selling by owner...and I have not been able to show any of late.
A pretty little living room. If this house were mine, I'd paint the front door on the inside too.
If I bought this house, the first thing I'd change would be those cabinets on either side of the fireplace.
They just look like two big boxes. They need to fit the shape of the fireplace better.
These detract from the fireplace.
Of course I love the arched door way.
Nice that the dining room has an arched ceiling just like the living room.
Love that.
Ok, this is kind of a crazy kitchen. The upper cabinets are rather unusual.
I'd say I don't like them but if they were painted white...and had the right knobs on them...
I think they could be pretty great.
Yep...this kitchen would be better in white.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stove!!! Truly...I wish it were mine.
But it needs a gorgeous hood over it. I don't like cabinets over stoves.
Nice bedroom with door to the outside. I like that.
Adore this bathroom! I love every little thing about it.
That sink! That mirror! The windows! The arch above the tub! The funny little cabinets!
I love it all.
Another bedrom...hmmmm this one has an outside door too!
 Little half bath
kids room...ok...least favorite room for me.
I like those little chairs though.
I'm guessing there is a little apartment attached to this garage. I'd make this my studio.
So wish I had that.
Here we see two back doors! That's interesting.

Good idea for adding a deck out the back if you don't want to remove your back stoop.

Open House Sunday

Dallas Tudor Cottage
 built 1944 - rebuilt 2007
When I first saw this house I thought it was a new one but it said built 1944.
After I uploaded all these photos I went back to the description of the home and found
that it was torn down to the foundation and rebuilt in 2007.
I probably wouldn't have shown this home if I'd read that before I uploaded all these photos.
I prefer original homes. I don't like vintage houses to be town down and replaced with new.
But....I'd already uploaded all these and it is a pretty house...so let's just go with it.
Very pretty curb appeal. I adore the french doors on the front of this house.
I'd love to do that with my own house...tear out a window and turn it into french doors instead.
But that would never be allowed in my neighborhood.
No doubt that everything about this house is pretty.
But it looks built to look old rather than being authentic.
Inside the layout is definitely modern.
This house is staged. I'd love to see it with real accessories in it.
The accessories here are very lame.
This is a cozy room. I hate big leather sofas.
There are the french doors we see on the front of the house. Love that feature.
Very nice kitchen. I think the choice of light fixture very odd.
It seems to be the only vintage thing in the house and not right for the space at all.
Kitchen is open to the living room not typical for a 1944 house but then this is really a 2007 house.
Great big master...yuck...leather bed.
Two cute bedrooms under the eaves. I can imagine these all dressed up.
Bathrooms are rather boring in layout.
You'd think they could have done better seeing that they started from scratch.
These cabinets are just not inspired at all.
Walls of mirrors and lots of boring beige.
Back porch feels very new. Of course I think there should have been french doors instead of windows.
Small balcony upstairs is a nice touch but a big deck would have been better.
I do love the look of the garage. There is a little apartment included there.
Here is the inside of it. Cute...huh?

See the full listing here.

This post is late getting up cause I went to a big Christmas party last night and was too tired to post last night.
I almost didn't go because I'd worked in the afternoon and came home and was cozy at home.
But I forced myself out and was so glad I did. I saw lots of old friends and ate and drank lots of good Christmas goodies.
Once I was there I couldn't believe I'd thought about not going.

Hope you are having a great Sunday!

Five Ways to Win

Be sure to register on Old New House and come back to my original post about them and tell me you did.

Is that confusing? I hope not too much.

back to today's house....
Yes, it needs a few pumpkins in the yard to really sell it.
Love this front side porch very much.
Living room is nice - light and bright. I'd remove that ceiling fan.
An office is always a good thing in a house. Look at all that perfect bright white trim!
Oh...I wish for the day that mine looks like this.
The dappled light in this house is wonderful.
Very nice kitchen. I wish the cabinets on the sink side went to the ceiling.
I'd change that if I bought this house.
Gleaming stainless fridge. This one looks especially shiny.
I know some think stainless looks too cold...but I do love all that silver...but then I love silver.
The only thing this kitchen really needs immediately...do you spot it?
A backsplash! A white subway tile backsplash would make this kitchen gorgeous.
To the new owners: Do this immediately!
Cute little nook.
Nice man room.
Does everyone that lives in Texas have a metal star on the wall somewhere in their house?
I think they do.
I love this bath. Yes, perhaps the toile is over the top...but I'm digging it.
Practical baby's room...oh...is that two cribs?
Bless their hearts. My friend KC is raising twins and it's hard.
They've opened up the attic and made it into a master suite.
The cat is probably up here hiding from the twins.
I'm loving this bathroom. Especially that mirror.
Not crazy about the shower curtain but that is easily fixed.
Funny to see a phone on the wall in this spot, isn't it?
Nice little backyard. Nothing fancy but very pretty...wish I had that stone patio myself.
Lots of nice shade trees and big containers...I do love that.
 See the full listing here.

Sorry, I am late getting this up.
I built store fixtures on Friday at the store and it just about killed me.
I slept for 18 hours afterwards!
Well, I'd been going on very little sleep for three days and then went shopping with my Mom afterwards when I should have just gone home.

Then yesterday I went to see my friend KC's twins (I'll show photos of them soon)
Mostly cause you have to see how she dresses them.

I wish I had their clothes.

Then after that I went to Jo-Ann's and stocked up on all the stuff I need to get my
Halloween crafting on.

You'll be seeing that this week.

But it's hard to get anything done...if you sleep for 18 hours...it really gets you off your schedule.

See you tomorrow for Mod Mix Monday!
