House Proud by Valorie Hart

Isn't this image tantalizing?
It's from Valorie Hart's new book,
House Proud: Unique Home Design/Louisiana ©2013
published by Glitterati Incorporated  www.GlitteratiIncorporated.com
You may know Valorie from her blog
She's an interior designer and writer, oh and Tango instructor too!
I've read her blog for a long time and have drooled over the spaces she's
created for clients and for herself. I also consider her a friend.
Oh...how I love it that I can have a friend in New Orleans thanks to
our blog world.

Valorie has a knack for adding a youthful yet sophisticated vibe to a room.
She can reinvent your space using your current furnishings and mixing them with new things
and new colors and art to create a space that is unique to you!
Now, Valorie's written this new book which is available for pre-order.
It will be released in September 2013.
You can pre-order at Amazon - House Proud
In Valorie's book Debra Shriver writes the foreword.
Debra wrote the book, Stealing Magnolias: Tales from a New Orleans Courtyard.
That book is about how Debra bought and revived a house in New Orleans after the hurricane.
Photos in House Proud are by Sara Essex Bradley.

In the words of Debra Shriver -
"This book is about loving a house so much that it loves you back."
More words from Debra -
Experience the joy of décor and design, restoration and rebirth, color and comfort—
all in the enchanting locale of Louisiana. In her first published book, House Proud: Unique Home Design/Louisiana
author Valorie Hart highlights the most fashionable homes in the state, giving her insider’s perspective
as a practiced New Orleans-based interior designer. The unique personalities of Louisiana’s homes
unfold as Hart takes you on a private tour of homes from New Orleans to Alexandria—from the formal
Greek revival house to the warm Creole cottage, the pre-Civil war beauty to the kitschy 50s-style ranch,
the grand Victorian to the modern urban loft. From there, Hart gives her creative expertise on
combining antique with modern, using color, repurposing furniture, displaying art collections,
creating extra rooms, and rethinking storage, all while paying homage to the house’s architectural elements.
House Proud is a surprising look at today’s Louisiana homes: the charm of southern hospitality
married with a look of contemporary chic.
I know I can't wait to get my hands on Valorie's new book.
I really love and admire Valorie's perspective on design.

I'm sure this is one book that I'll read and savor over and over.

Again, pre-order at Amazon

  6. Lucky thing -- did you get an advance copy? I will be ordering. I think her style is great. Those iron dining chairs look exactly like the ones I used to have when I lived there years ago. I wonder whatever happened to them? ;>))
