Spring brings Change
I know it's not spring yet....but it's getting very close.
This week...the 20th.
I love spring. It's my favorite season.
Everything seems new and fresh and full of possibilities.
Totally loving all this spring stuff.
Would love any and all of it in my home.
Vases of spring cuttings are so divine!
A wild willow spring wreath for the front door.
Oh....I love this so...
Ah...the perfect rustic chair filled with pink impatiens.
I haven't been here as much as I normally am the last week and that's because
I've got big changes coming.
I've been going back and forth about a new job.
Interviewing, drug tests, background check, paperwork and now...it's final.
I start a new job on Monday.
Next week I'll have lots of training to go through.
And then the next week I start it full throttle.
I'll be selling furniture for a major furniture store.
Odd...I know for me...cause I really like used furniture the best.
But I know about furniture and I can talk furniture and design
and this just seemed like a good thing for me to try.
If it works out...I can make a nice living from it.
If it doesn't....well...I will do something else.
It's hard out there for a middle aged single woman.
Very hard.
I've done without insurance and benefits for quite some time
and this seemed to be the best solution.
I can do something I'm interested in that has the potential to pay more
than what I'd make if I went back to doing graphics and marketing for a company full time.
Which always involved many many hours of unpaid overtime.
I'm hoping this will lead to a well balanced life.
At least I hope so.
So next week....I may be sparse with the posts.
I have things here I am working on that I need to show.
But I'll just have to do the best I can do.
Wish me luck. I need it.

Nita, I bet you'll be great at your new job! You have so much experience and insight with decor. Wishing you the best.
This makes me SO HAPPY to read!
I wish you the best.
You have such a great eye and wonderful taste and you definitely know design! You also have a fabulous and funny personality so I think you will be a great success.
I know that you've said how hard and underpaid graphic design and marketing can be and you, just like me, would also be facing ageism. It's not fair but it's a sad fact of life most times.
So many employers don't realize how valuable a mature worker is and how we have a stronger work ethic. Sigh.
I'm in the same boat of course, struggling to make ends met and trying to figure out how to stay in the pot and not jump into the fire....
Congrats my friend! I wish you luck but I know you won't need it!

Good for you, Nita! It sounds like the job for you. Too bad I'm not closer so I could come to you for advice when I'm finally ready to spring for a new sofa! I'm glad you'll have good benefits so you'll have less to worry about. Best of luck with your week of training!

Love that pillow in the first photo. It is so spring.
Congrats on your new job. Starting a new job is always a mixture of excitement and stress. I think you'll be perfect for this job. You are always critiquing homes on the blog and are so good at it. This should come very natural for you. And yes - it is hard for the single woman out there. But I love my independence and can't see myself ever remarried.
Good luck!
Cindy

Congrats Nita! I hope this works out well for you. I only know of one "major" furniture store in OK and their initials are MB. Is that where you are going to work? I totally get the ageism thing out there.
I am so thrilled for you! With everything you have to bring to the table, your employer is lucky to have you.
You will have to show us (when you can) what kind of goodies you are representing.
This is such good news. Selling furniture when you're into decoration will be interesting. I'm sure you'll help your customers make the right decisions. Good luck for that first week of training.
