Open House Sunday

Bridgehampton, New York
I wish I had a photo of the outside of this home...but alas...I do not.
But it's gorgeous on the inside.
It was designed by
What's not to love in that photo?
Love the board and batten painted different colors. Didn't think I'd like that...but
I do because it's subtle.
Love that hall table with the marble top.
Very industrial table and I'm not sure what that chandelier is but I like it.
Love the wall of glass front cabinets.
Yes, there is a lot of grey in this home and it's lovely.
I don't know if that is a window or a mirror at the end of the hall.
What do you think? It sure looks good.
Love this room. Light and bright and perfect for by the sea.
Amazing wingback chair.
I really adore this room.
All those windows are great and the colors but you know what I realized
made me really love this room?....that little bit of purple on the table.
That tiny shot of purple brings life to this room.
Shows how important a little bit of flowers can be.
Here we are in the kitchen.
Wow! That big display case is amazing in this space.
A perfect place to put all your dishes and serving ware.
What do you think about those lights?
Amazing, aren't they?
What a great big kitchen!
I like the hardware on the cabinets.
There are really some great ideas in this home.
That wall of what I guess is old steel industrial windows...really adds character.
Looks like the opposite one is filled with old cloudy mirror.
What a great collection of miniature ships on the wall.
Ok, I really love this. I know I say I love a lot but a mirror in front
of a window is something you'd think you should not do but
it works here so well.
Serene bedroom with a view.
Not sure which room this is....this is all they showed of it.
I sure would like to see the rest.
And a dramatic powder room.
Isn't that mirror perfect in this spot?

I can just imagine a sea captain living here.
It's nautical without any clichéd choices.

White Pumpkins

It's a very Fall-ish day here.
I worked early in the day and now....I'm home enjoying
pumpkin scented candles and a marathon of
Jersey Shore.

Yes, that's awful, isn't it?

Last season of Jersey Shore starts next week.

It's a cloudy rainy Saturday and the dogs have no interest in doing anything.
Just sleeping.

I'll be there for sure.
It will be in this barn where they teach classes too.
If you want more information on the show go to
Denise's blog and find out more.

Turquoise and Orange

Fall Inspiration
Gorgeous colors in this photo, yes?
I love turquoise but never thought I cared much about orange.
But they sure are a beautiful color combination as seen in these rooms.
Orange and turquoise are very glamourous in this dining room setting.
And an orange island in the kitchen sure adds some punch.
I love anything painted this color but the addition of the orange accessories
and the orange chairs just makes this room divine.
Love this room with the wall color an that red orange chandelier.
Orange keeps turquoise from being too sweet.
It can get too sweet if used with pink...although I do love it with pink.
Those bird prints are magnificent especially with those walls.
This room is so cozy yet vibrant.
Brown, turquoise, orange and white.
A great color palette.
And painting the inside of these shelves sure make that whole built-in fresh.
Love the orange velvet chair.

I ignore orange most of the year...except in October...all of a sudden it's very pretty to me.
I can see how it could be incorporated into decor that would be fun to live
with year round.
Not just at Halloween time.

Although it is so good at Halloween.
Even though many these days are throwing it out all together and doing white and black Halloweens.
A turquoise and orange Halloween would be fabulous,
don't you think?

Painting

This is what I've been up to
I just finished this painting for my friend KC.
It's large... 36 x 48
She requested a painting of a tree to go in her living room.
I mod podged sheet music onto the canvas for a background before painting
the tree.
The little birds represent her and her husband and her two dogs.

Here it is hanging in her home on her gray walls.
I should have gotten a shot further away....next time I'm over there I will.
I haven't painted a large painting in quite awhile and I have to say it felt good to be doing it again.
I painted in the breakfast nook on my easel with the back door open
and the weenies going in and out the door.
I have to say that was quite pleasant.
I could do that every day.
Yes, the artist's life for me.

Thanks to all that helped me out by some donations the past few days.
I was in such a state I couldn't think.
You know how that is...when you are so behind in money that you can't think
about anything else but that.
You've given me a little breathing room to get back to being creative.
I'm thinking I will do paintings to sell here.
Would you all be interested in that?

Thanks too to all of you that wrote interested in me doing a blog design for you.
I'll be getting in touch with you through email today or tomorrow.

Mod Mix Monday #69

Elegance Redefined
How elegant is this room without being stuffy?
I'm crazy for those tulip tables though. So I am biased. I like them in just about any room.
But mix it with those chairs and that ornate armoire....just amazing.
Notice the old frame chalkboard?
I still have not tired of those.
I found the perfect large frame to make one for my living room recently.
Alas it was $100...which was a good price because it was HUGE....
but it was $100 I didn't have.
Don't you hate it when you find the perfect thing at a good price and you still can't buy it?
That happens to me all the time.

Last week's Mod Mix Monday was full of it again.
And by full of it...I mean in a good way.

The Style Sisters are back with this pretty dining room.
I can't resist a shabby chic dining table.
Love the way this is styled.
This post is really about the black sideboard added to the room but I couldn't help but show the table.
I practically begged Cindy of Oakview Cottage to link up this week.
I love this vignette so much...a vintage fan sitting on a silver tray with those vintage milk bottles?
It's just so pretty without being too sweet.
Melissa of Daisy Mae Belle has her whole house done up in wonderful fall decor.
It was hard for me to choose what to show. It's all good.
Betsy Speert shared a new waxing technique.
It really creates an authentic looking vintage finish.
You know the kind....the kind with a little dirt.
This vintage sewing table became her new printer stand in her office.
Jen of City Farmhouse bought an old stereo cabinet for $10.
Yes, that is right...$10 and turned it into this fabulous console.
Doesn't it look great in her room?
Jen also made these super cute pumpkins out of linen, driftwood and toilet paper rolls.
Yes, that's right...toilet paper rolls.
And finally, Whimsical Perspective took a boring wall and made
it NOT boring. I really like those metal basket shelf things on the wall.
All of it compliments the table perfectly.

See I told you it was a lot.
But I just have to share all the ones I loved the most each week.
