Green Water
A few weeks ago I talked about my plan to fill my wall fountain with flowers
and greenery instead of water this year.
I planted my wall fountain this past weekend.
There are impatiens among the greenery. It just isn't blooming yet.
I filled it with dracea, vinca vine, fern, moneywort and impatiens.
As the moneywort fills in and grows, I believe it will mimic water flowing over the side.
I planted a few geraniums too.
I'd still like a great big gorgeous fountain like this.

I happened upon this image of a salad garden. Isn't it fabulous? So beautiful.

Hi Nita!
Love how your planter turned out!
Love a water feature in a yard.
Such a pretty post!

What a great idea! Love the idea of using it as a planter. Great choice of greenery too!
I'd love a big fountain in my backyard also, so soothing to sit by!
Megan
LOVE it! gorgeous!
I like the planting sooo much better than the water fountain! Solitude in the garden, and being able to hear the birdsong is so much more of a treat than fake rushing water. Great idea!
These photos just transport me! It would be sweet to just do a little patch like that salad garden!
That planter is gorgeous! As I get more comfortable owning/decorating/maintaining a house I'll slowly start to venture outdoors. I've always been so intimidated by gardening. Thanks for the inspiration!
It's beautiful as a planter!
What a pretty fountain you have. I think this will be the new rage in blogland, everyone will copy you and plant their fountains!! I hope to see it in context once your yard and outdoors is all ready to be shown off.
Hi Nita, The fountain looks beautiful as a planter. I am emailing this to a friend that has a wall fountain that no longer works.
xo,

What a great idea for your fountain.
and that salad garden...oh my divine.
Thanks for sharing
Hi Nita,
I love your fountain filled with greens, so pretty.
Yes, I'm working so hard on my outside area but I'm afraid my home is suffering because of it. Want to do it all (just like everyone else I suppose!).

I truly hope you someday get the fountain you dream of. I think my next blog post will be photos of various fountains ... thanks for the inspiration!
it looks lovely, nita. love it, and hopefully it will cut down on the mosquitoes.

Beautiful fountain/planter. Gotta get me a fountain as soon as I get me a house. I'm growing butter crunch and red leaf lettuce but nothing to this extent! Pretty.
Your wall fountain is gorgeous. I love all of the plants you've chosen for it. It's going to be even prettier once they grow a bit. Good job!
I like all of the other pics, too....I've always wanted a formal herb garden...sigh...
The fountain looks wonderful filled with flowers!
I love the salad garden!! Oh my that would be heaven to have a garden like this!
Nita your fountain looks beautiful as a planter! Martina
Your fountain looks fabulous with the vines hanging over like water flowing.
I have been working in my yard and I am really enjoying our spring weather.
Can't wait to see the rest of your yard.
Traci
WOW. You are giving me IDEAS HERE for an empty space I have....hmmmm!
LOVELY AS ALWAYS NITA! Anita
Love your fountain filled with flowers. I too have a wall fountain and just yesterday bought yet another pump that will probably last a month. Why not just use it as a planter!? Great idea! I love fountains though and the sound of water....YOur inspiration photos are so dreamy! ~Delores
Hey Nita,
Your fountain looks beautiful--even without the impatiens blooming. I'm liking containers with lots of green foliage lately anyways.. cheaper that way too! I just started with my flowers yesterday... doing bit by bit. So glad warm weather is finally here. I love fountains... and always thought maintenance would be a bother but I LOVE this idea of planting in them (sorry sweet birdies!)Thanks for linking up to my Share the Love link party!

This is such a clever idea! And the pictures of fountains - just gorgeous! x Sharon
Great to see your plan come to fruition! It's beautiful! I'd love a fountain too. I won't even answer the question on what I'm doing in the yard. You already know the answer.
Nita, your wall fountain/planter looks fantastic. I am working on my hydrangeas and the sprinkler heads that water them. They are not getting enough water, and they are wilting!
Your wall fountain is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! Love this post.....cannot wait to have one of my own. One of my favorite element of outdoor decor. You did such a beautiful job.
I stopped by last night and wanted to leave a comment but blogger was doing maintenance so I wasn't able to. I love the fountain planted and those fountains are gorgeous. I looked through your blog and thought your style was fab. so I became a follower. I'm so flattered that you noticed and followed me too. Thank you for that. Love your blog, I'll be a frequent stalker I mean visitor. LOL
Certainly each of the fountains you dream about is elegant and grand, but I really like the simple beauty of your little wall fountain. It will be even more lovely when the impatiens begin to bloom.
Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday. It's always good to have you join me.

Your fountain is so pretty! No I am not working on my outdoor space. It has been raining and I have been sick, hopefully things will turn around next week!
Here's hoping for some sun.
Hugs, Cindy
The fountain looks fabulous with the green foilage. It turned out so pretty.
Love the combination of the greenery and flowers, really really pretty!! I think I like it better like this than with running water. Thanks Nita, for linking up with VIF! xoxo Debra
I love that last pool --
Great way to use it, I have been wanting one of these wall fountains but are they hard to keep going is that why you turned yours into a planter? Just beautiful the way it turned out.
I love this! I'd like to invite you to post it on Masterpiece Monday at Boogieboard Cottage. The link will be up all week, I hope you can join in. Have a nice week, Mary :O)
I just turned my wall fountain on this weekend. It's always a question whether it will work each year, but I had my fingers crossed and it did! I enjoyed all your fountain photos - Jennifer
How I wish I had a fountain like yours!! Those images of the other fountains made me long for one as well. I would love it if you would link this up to my Marvelous Mess party!! Every week I pick one project to feature on my sidebar!! Here is the link: http://marvelouslymessy.blogspot.com/2011/05/marvelous-mess-13-and-features.html
Luv your green fountain, Nita! What a wonderful idea! I have a water garden I dug next to my deck a couple years ago, and there's nothing better than hearing that splash of water while sipping a glass of wine watching the sun go down! :)
xoxo laurie
I absolutely adore your fountain and every other one in this post.
Love.

Gorgeous European styling. I'm in Italy right now and am dying for a fountain, too, if I can find a budget one!!!
LOL!!!

I love the garden! The whole setting is so beautiful and the water is so calming!

Beautiful! I love what you've done with your garden. Are those outdoor solar water fountains? I'd love to get some for my garden.
This is so beautiful. This reminds me of something from the movie The Secret Garden. It is a little unknown at first, but then turns out absolutely beautiful. I really the plants in the fountain. We have been wanting to put something like this in our garden. Do you know of any places that have garden fountains for sale?
Thanks for sharing this, I love some of these designs! It reminds me how much we want a garden fountain. We're going to have to go out and shop for something this weekend. Thiago | http://www.rogersbigbargains.com/default.asp?dept_id=30030
These are some beautiful water fountains. I love the almost vintage feel that comes from having a water fountain. I have recently done some landscaping; these could be a great option to get visitors to leave all of their change at my home.
