To Dine Is Thine
Yes, I finally have a finished dining room.
I showed it yesterday but I'm afraid by the time I got the new fabric on the chair seats....
I was starting to lose the good light for photos. So my photos were a bit blurry.
So here I've included new shots done in better light.
I decided to go with a different color and fabric on each chair seat.
This one is the same fabric I used for curtains in the breakfast nook.
I ordered all the other fabric from Fabric.com.
The pink is called Flamingo Pink and coordinates very well with the pink ceiling in this room
and with my pink sofa in the living room.
I think this yellow is my favorite.
This one was Mom's favorite.
I won this great Cockatoo statue from Eddie Ross last summer.
It finally has a spot to rest. He looks fabulous on the buffet now that it's white.
I also thought I was growing tired of my majolica but I have a renewed love
for it now that it's mixed with all the white.
Yes, Roscoe's chair is still here. I draped some fabric on it for the moment.
The view from the living room into the dining room.
The room needs a rug and some more art...but all in time.
For now I'm basking in the glow of a job accomplished.

Beautiful. Bright and inviting. ~~Sherry~~
ReplyDeleteOh dearest namesake, I LOVE IT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. In many ways, it is similar to mine, but I am still looking for a sideboard. My style however, is bent towards the French flea market style, but the archway is exactly the same, my walls however are white. EVERYTHING IS MAGNIFICENT!!! Anita or NITA!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely amazing! The colors pop and sizzle and are soothing at the same time. Job well done, you must be so proud :) What are the colors on the walls of your living and dining rooms?

Looks just incredible!! So magazine worthy..give yourself a big pat on the back..perfection!
ReplyDeleteI love it Nita. Inspired to have the chairs in pretty different fabrics. So fun seeing the ER bird on the sideboard, I had forgotten about that. And I see you have a small bar set up behind the sofa~so mix up some cosmos for us and I will help you celebrate!
ReplyDeleteI love each and every one of the fabrics you used for the chair seats! Very nice job, Nita! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteJob well done Nita! I LOVE how you transformed your dining room!! Martina
ReplyDeleteNita, I love the yellow fabric too but all of them are terrific on the white chairs. Again I say the buffet is the STAR of the room. ♥O
ReplyDeleteWow Wow Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it SO much!
That last photo should be the first one in a magazine spread on your home! Breathtaking!
And now, I've changed my mind about the Roscoe chair. I think you should KEEP it and cover it in the periwinkle fabric that is draped over the back!
:D - Cindi
It is beautiful as I knew it would be. The majolica really "pops" now! You should be so proud of yourself for a job well done. You should definitely keep Roscoe's chair and cover it in dreamy white with several pillows made from your new dining chair fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHi Nita,
ReplyDeleteA perfect bright and charming feminine room! Everytime I look at your rooms, I see something new that I love. I really LOVE the mix of pink and yellow and I love how it flows into the living room with that AWESOME pink couch!
It really does look enchanting!
Have you done a post on painting your DR table and chairs? I'm working up the courage to paint mine....against my husband's wishes! :)
Have a wonderful day!
Sarah xo
Love love love!!
ReplyDeletehi nita,
ReplyDeletei agree with sarah. everytime i look at the room i see something new. how wonderfully feminine it is. the roses are gorgeous too. i bet you just sit on the gorg pink sofa and stare into the dining room now. that, or you are prob just exhausted from all the hard work! just beautiful.

I love the mix and match fabrics on your chairs! The whole room looks wonderful!
ReplyDelete~Chris
Hi Nita! I'm drooling over your gorgeous dining room. Love the different colored fabrics on your chair seats! Your buffet is gorgeous. I have a similar one but it's still in it's wooden state.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Nita, I lik all the fabric, but I am partial to the yellow, too. I hope you realize how gorgeous your dining room truly is. Your majolica is *stunning* against the yellow, white, and natural wood on the rack. I think the natural wood is the perfect foil to the elegant majolica. Your dining room really should be in BH&G. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
xoxoxoxo,
Ricki Jill
I am IN LOVE with your ceiling in the dining room! Of course the whole room is just to die for, but I am intrigued by the ceiling! Could you tell me what paint you used to get that sheen? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteI'll email all of you too but thought I'd answer a few questions here.
ReplyDeleteThe furniture was lightly sanded and then painted with two coats of Kilz primer. Then 3 to 4 coats of Martha Stewart Popcorn but the color was too light so I added brown and yellow craft paint till I got the creamy white I wanted. So it's a custom mix. I used to have a Ralph Lauren paint in the perfect shade but don't know what the mix was but this custom mix is almost exactly it. After painting all furniture...I sanded it in spots down to the original wood finish. Then I used Minwax clear waterbased rub on poly on the top of the table and top of the buffet to hopefully keep the finish from scratching.
The paint color on the walls is Devoe Paint "Ivory Lily" in eggshell. It photographs much more yellow than it actually is depending on time of day. The actual color is much like the very first photograph on this post. It's a very light creamy butter yellow...just barely yellow...really cream. But I am thinking of changing it because it photographs so yellow and I don't like the way it looks in many photos. But I have it throughout the house. It's in the living room, dining room, hallway, den, master bath, kitchen and breakfast nook. My house is small and I like the one color going through out the home. Although it looks different in each room depending on light.
The ceiling is painted Devoe Paint "Desert Rose" in Satin. I like that it reflects the lights and shines a little at night. I used Devoe Paint after it was recommended by a painter friend and have to say the quality was excellent.
I have another antique chandelier for this space that needs to go up. The one in this room was suppose to be a temporary one. I just didn't have time to get it up before the home tour. So it is coming soon.
Hurray for Roscoe, and I LOVE it all. Great job, Nita, the lampshades look fabulous!!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Debra
Nita!!! How awesome is that room! I think my favorite is the different fabric on the chairs. You, my friend, are my decorating hero!!!

ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
Hugs, PuteriFauziah.
I love the new look. Your dining room is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to view a room and love how it is decorated while standing in it, but when it looks fabulous in a photo, you KNOW it's awesome!!! (I say this as I have often photographed a room only to look at the image and think.... "hmmmm, I thought it looked prettier than this...." But OH MY! Seeing your dining room through that arch, it is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI love your painted white furniture and all of the COLOR you have incorporated into your charming home, really enjoyed your home tour!!!!

Your dining room is stunning! I love how you chose different fabrics for the chairs ... such great pops of color! The painted pieces look gorgeous. I have a buffet, very similar in style to yours, that I've been "thinking" about painting white and distressing a bit. Do you mind me asking the steps you took to do the buffet, as far as sanding, priming, poly, etc? Thanks! *Becca* (your newest follower)

Hi Nita~ I just love seeing your gorgeous space all over again! It is absolutely beautiful and I just love the white!!! Thanks so much for sharing this at FNF! :)
ReplyDeleteGreatJob on the room. I love the pink ceiling. I like the wall color I gravitate toward a more yellow white, too much stark white on everything doesn't appeal to me. It is a very cozy and warm feel. Lovely.
