Rose Cottage

Victorian Cottage in Eureka Springs, Arkansas
This cottage is in the latest issue of Country Living.
I opened the pages of this month's issue and was just enamored with this little cottage.
Look at those turquoise floors!
I'm sure you can see why I'm in love with this place.
That turquoise dining table!...so sweet
The mint colored kitchen hutch?...oh...my...precious.
A window seat with big romantic pillows.
The arch windows are amazing.
I love how the woodwork is painted white but the mullions are stained wood.

I love the way this has been styled too. Probably can thank Country Living for that.
I love an unstructured kitchen. A kitchen where there aren't typical kitchen cabinets.
That sink is so great....so big...so long...and what about it's legs?
The little green cabinet is so nifty too.
And how about those walls?
More chippy furniture.
You would think that that floor would not work with that wall...but it does!
Just look at these walls! Scrumptious patina!
The arched window is the perfect backdrop for the bed.
Perfect styling.
A little room under the gable. It's beautiful in its simplicity.
I need that waste basket.
I just realized after looking at this...that I need a mirror on the porch!
Of course!
I don't have a spot for one but it sure brings the outside to the other side of the porch.
This is the little shed behind the house.

You can see more and read all about it at
Country Living

You can rent this cottage!
Check out the website for it.

There are more photos of the cottage on the website.
It's interesting to see the differences between these photos and the Country Living styled photos.

Most of the furniture and accessories are the home owners but seems that
Country Living simplified and of course took photos at the best angles.

Let's compare...

as styled by Country Living
The actual room. The home owner has wonderful things.
But Country Living simplified it.
The addition of the basket at the end of the bed is a real improvement.
Crisp white bedding makes for a very inviting bed.
That little metal table in the foreground got moved to be a bedside table.
I wonder if the homeowners kept the changes.
I would have!
This photo makes me realize I really like non matching bedside tables instead of matching.

I just love the whole look of this place.
I want to book a weekend to stay there...right now!

Have you been to Eureka Springs?
It's a little Victorian Village in the mountains of Arkansas.

I've been there and had a wonderful stay but it's been a long time.
I so want to go there again soon!

  2. Oh my goodness!

I have to run off for my tennis game, but I am going to come back and pin nearly every photo onto my "making a house a home" pinterest board.

I collect hands and one of those photos has an absolutely amazing hand on a table.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. It would be fun to stay there for a getaway, but it is a little too busy for me long term. The cottage certainly has great bones and is very charming. I think the attic room was my favorite, mostly because it's more simple.

  4. The walls in the bedroom look like my back fence. I mean that in a very good way. I love my back fence.
I saw this too and it made me stop and think that maybe I could do something like that to my horrible wood floors (of course I STILL have not done a thing to them!) but maybe prime them white and then stain them in a mixed of turquoise and green?
Then it could be perfectly imperfect! (or one big awful mess)
    I'm still thinking...and not doing!

  5. omg.I want to live there. I have been thinking about doing the plank walls and painting my hardwood floor for awhile now. This might actually convinced me to do it.

  6. You won't believe this, but Hobby Lobby has furniture just like those floors and walls.

  7. Cynthia - oh this makes me think hard about painting my floors too. One of my neighbors has white painted floors she did like 20 years ago and they look so good! They are worn where they walk and that just makes them all the better. I'd love that fence of your's too!

    Victoria -
I'm totally thinking about painting my floors.

Donna - I was in Hobby Lobby the other night and everything in there they've copied from bloggers. Didn't get to look at the furniture isle as they were redoing the floors there. But I'll go back and check it out.

  9. I loved that house too Nita. Really was so fun to see it in CL as seems like lately there is not much cottage style. Its more serious drab country decor. Anyway I loved so many of the things they did in that cottage.

  10. What a pretty cottage! Will check out the website (not that I'll ever go, I'm in Australia!) Loved the comparison photos and I would keep the room as styled by Country Living too. Wish they'd come to my place just so they could put their touch to it! take care, Maryann

  11. So cute and of course the addition of the white bedding really does make the bed come alive. It seems to highlight the frame whereas in the original photo we don't recognize the frame.
    Great post.

  12. I KNOW, I almost fainted when I saw those floors! Do we ever dare? There's no going back after painting floors, but I'm not sure I would ever regret having those. Speaking of turquoise, I have been thinking of you all day while I have been painting my bathroom cabinet turquoise :) Oh and there may or may not be a little pink in there too, heehee I can't wait to show you! Bye bye hideous black, ugh. And I finally took the advice that you gave me a year ago and started the eradication of the yellow paint. Why oh why did I wait so long?!! I guess I needed to totally hate it before I could give in. Only the bath is done now but you know what they say about the slippery slope . . . . I might need to buy stock in Behr :)
    xoxoxo!

  17. I so long for a little place like this to run away to. I think I prefer the homeowner's version -- it is more real.
