Open House Sunday

Tudor for Sale in Edgemere Park
built 1927
This home is a beauty on the outside.
I thought I'd shown this house before on the blog but I searched and searched and couldn't find it.
I did see that it last sold in 2008 and that must have been what I was thinking because my cousin
had looked at it when it was for sale last...thinking she might buy it.
It's got a nice cathedral ceiling.
pretty fireplace
I'd love to lighten the colors in this house but then I like light colors in all houses.
Cute little kitchen.
I'm not a fan of the animals on the walls.
I know they are in style but nothing dead can ever be in style for me.
Obviously, stairs have been added to the attic or converted attic space.
They could use some dressing up if you ask me.
Paint them...by all means. They look super steep, don't they?
That wainscoting would have to be painted immediately too if I lived there.
I am now seeing why my cousin wasn't very impressed with this house when she viewed it.
I cannot imagine her ever in this bathroom.
Love the free standing tub but its not architecturally correct for a house this age.
It belongs in an older home.
Big but rather plain backyard.
But I love this! A lovely arbor to spend the summer evenings.

That's it...first Open House of 2014...time marches on.....

  1. I could sure make this charming cottage my own with lots of white paint! I love all the natural light with all the large windows. And the fireplace is so pretty, too!

  2. Too much wood for me and too orange, but it has great potential. I'd have to start with lots of new and lighter paint.

  3. It's a great house. I'm kind of shocked that the realtor didn't advise them to remove the creatures from the walls. Yuck!!

  4. I don't really like it at all.
    Too much work.
Everything would have to be painted.
I have a tub like that and I would NOT move to another house with one.
I don't even like the fireplace and I usually love a fireplace.
Don't like the tile in the kitchen.
And that animal room makes me ill.
Lots of bad feng shui on that house.
    It's a pass for me.
But thanks for doing the Open House. :)

  5. Nita I can just hear that cottage screaming to you if you walked through, "Please make me pretty again!" haha....Oh, it has so much potential! Lovely. But it needs your touch!

  6. This is a great example of how improtant good pictures are when selling a house. These pics looks like they have been boosted with digital editing givng them that odd orange glow. I like this house and it seems to have many of the orginal features in tact, I noticed the tile bath floor and orginal doors, but I would buy a case of white paint to lighten up this beauty. And of course the dead animals would have to go. This is the type of house I will be looking for next time we move,

  7. What a darling house -- and a great price!! I don't think it would take much to spiff this up at all! Painting is an easy fix, and it wouldn't take that much to make that bathroom right. I love the exterior too, that brick work on the peak is great and I loooovve the arch. Just imagine the front porch all done up for the holidays! We had one of those gas heaters in our fireplace for a long time too! Easy to switch to gas logs, which we love having here. I bet there's plenty of space in the attic to add on, the roof is plenty high to do it. Love this one! Would snap this up in a heartbeat, such an easy fix.

  8. Great windows. That's some weird photography! I looked at a bunch of houses on the site. There's some good ones, but I'm spoiled now and need a basement. Only one had one - but way too expensive.

  9. I'm sure home buyers will love this place! I wonder if I can find a house that looks like this near my place. Hehe! I do hope the new owners will take good care of the fantastic design of this place. Well, I'll just pin these images and use them as an inspiration for renovations. Thanks for sharing! :)

  10. I always enjoy your Open House Sunday posts, Nita because I love to drive by old neighborhoods and look at houses, and your posts allow me to see inside of the homes also. Almost always, I agree with so many of your observations. For this particular house, I like the fireplace, too. The kitchen layout would drive me insane – there’s no counter space next to the stove, and who puts a stove next to the refrigerator?? I’m not a fan of dead animals either, and the staircase needs a railing – I agree that it is mighty steep!
