Time for a Cocktail!!!

I'm Celebrating
Friday is always a good day for a cocktail- the end of the work week and all.
I think I'll have a drink to celebrate that I'm finally doing the final finishing touches on
 my dining room furniture.
Don't you love the look of a bar set up in a room?
I don't actually have a bar set up but I do have out an antique seltzer bottle,
glass decanter and sherry glasses.
I do love old seltzer bottles, don't you?
A little bar set up in the corner looks so cosmopolitan.
A few libations on a pretty tray.
All these images came from Lonny Magazine.
They do love a bar set up at Lonny.
There is one in almost every house spread.
Look how nice all those bottles look on a shabby chic dresser.
Oh...a mirrored tray. I remember when Target had these and I couldn't justify buying one.
That was foolish...look how great this looks! I think every bar set up has to have a bottle of Bombay Gin.
Not for taste but for the beautiful blue color.
I think I'll start looking for a bar cart for a corner in the dining room.
But how impressive is this armoire decked out as a bar?
I think this is the most elegant thing.

Photos to come soon of the dining room and more open houses.
I found some more good ones!

  1. I love the images. A set up bar does look sophisticated, but my life is too casual for such things so I'll just set it up for company.
I do keep old seltzer bottles on display.

  3. I think bar setups automatically look vintage. I always associate them with cocktail parties my parents had back in the day. Of couse mom in her paisley muumuu.

  4. You're right... that blue bottle of Bombay Gin makes me want to get one just for "display"! Love the look of old selzer bottles but never seem to find any around these parts.

Can't wait to see the dining room...

  6. I like everything! Thank you for posting this. After a tiring work week, we all deserve a treat or at least a drink in a beautiful and vintage bar..in the comfort of our own homes. I by the way used to collect old bottles of wine.

  7. We have a little bar area, but it's not really a bar. I'd love to have a cool bar setup someday...

  8. This was fun to see! I love the armoire bar and the marble pastry table bar. I set up a bar in my secretary desk when I had a party for my dad's 80th. It looked very chic! Or should I say swanky? It does remind me of the many cocktail parties my parents had in the 60s and 70s, like Steve said....and yes my mom was in her caftan too! And lots of guests were puffing away on their cigarettes!!

  10. What great pictures of little bars! Yes I love the look, its so inviting and can be so beautiful if you have gorgeous decanters and such. Since I have made wine my official best friend every night at 6pm (half joking) you better believe I love a cocktail hour:-) What better way to make someone feel right at home than to have a chic little bar set up to pour them a drink.......look forward to setting one up in my new home soon. Thanks for the inspiration.

  11. Oh, how I love a bar setup! I don't have room for a bar cart, so I used some cafe shelves from Ballard Designs in my dining area for a bar. I love being able to offer guests to my home a nice cocktail. :-)

I would love to have a vintage bar cart, though. I think they are awesome.

  14. Nita, at the risk of sounding stalker-ish, I have to tell you this: My last dream before I woke was of you and I meeting, by chance, and becoming besties! Oh, and in the dream, you had a gorgeous husband. (You're welcome.) Anyway, I feel all warm and fuzzy for you now . . . my new BFF!

  19. So I love your blog!

    (Too soon?)

Still, I do. I've been seeking at term for what I like. I live in an vintage home and adore old houses but don't want to decorate in pure Victorian Style.

I like fresh, modern looks but while I drool over mid-century mod or industrial style - that hardly works in this old house.

You hit the nail on the head - mod vintage! ♥

I look forward to following your blog for more.

  24. Such great pictures and gorgeous inspiration! Is that "Classic" print in the first one something you found? Where does a gal find something so gorgeous as that?

  26. Ramsam -
I have two of those Hollywood prints. I'll show both in a post soon. The one pictured above is Clara Bow and the other one I have is Jean Harlow. I purchased them here..

    http://www.allthingspulp.com/index.html

You can get them in many different sizes. The guy that does these is constantly on the look out for more and more vintage magazine covers that he scans in and retouches so that they are perfect for reproduction and then he does digital prints on canvas.

I hadn't been by the site in awhile and he's added many more images. But that Clara Bow one is my most favorite.

  27. I used to have a cocktail table with crystal decanters and shiny silver shakers.....
I used to have people over for cocktails before going out for the evening....
Now it's just a bottle of vodka chilling in the freezer! LOL!
Loved all the pics though! I adore that marble top one. LOVE it!
And I like that photo of the yellow/gold shoes and the paintng of the cat. Very cool.
I'm holding my breath for your reveal!

  28. Love the photos and old seltzer bottles - was looking at some yesterday on Etsy (I don't own any yet). I'd love to have a little bar set up but I think my twins would have me tapping into it a little too often! I keep my liquor out of sight, out of mind. lol! I do agree though...every bar needs bombay gin. Pretty color!
