Mirrored Walls

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
creating the fairest rooms of all.
I find them irresistible, almost magical.
Clouded and antiqued is best.
layered with other mirrors
reflecting a sparkling chandelier
they let artwork and furniture shine
I used to not like mirrored walls but I'd only seen examples like the one above.
I don't think there is anything magical about that mirrored wall at all.
If I lived in a house with a big builder mirror in the bathroom, I would so do this.
Just layer a fabulous mirror on top.
I did layered mirrors in my own hall bath.
You can see it here....

How do you feel about mirrored walls?

  2. Nita, Gorgeous mirrors, especially the first bathroom mirror! I just love the reflective light and the sense of enlargement that mirrors bring to decor. Not to mention they are so beautiful!

  5. Nita, love this post! My bathrooms all have nasty builder grade mirros - yuck! My Master bath mirror is something like 10'x 9' ... I picked up some pretty decorator mirrors to hang on top but have had little luck finding out how to hang them. The ceilings are much to tall to suspend them. In your searches have you ever come across any DIY? Your GLAM BATH is amazing!

    Best wishes,
    Tammy

  6. I really love mirrors too, especially the antiqued/distressed look. You are right on, they have this "magical" quality that instantly adds glamour and light to practically any space.

  7. Tammy -
I suspended my mirror in front of my mirrored cabinet in my bath using a cup hook that I screwed into the frame of the medicine cabinet and then used clear plastic covered picture frame wire. I love this stuff...I buy it in the frame department at Hobby Lobby. It's a nice silver heavy wire that stays neat and doesn't scratch anything because it has the plastic coating.

I've used heavy duty velcro for sticking stuff to walls without putting in nails or screws. My best friend two years ago mounted a mirror to her subway tile using heavy duty velcro and it has stayed just fine. I'd use lots of it.

Or you could put empty decorative frames in front of the mirror too. It would not be as difficult to hang because it would be much lighter.

  8. I was just wondering also about how they attached that mirror to the larger mirror.... then I read these comments. And what a good idea to hang an empty frame! This has me inspired, as I've had a lovely mirror sitting agains the wall for weeks waiting for me to hang it... having changed my mind about where it's been.

Yesterday I finally put away the remaining winter decor, as it hit me that it's now March, even though we had snow on the ground last week! Got out my sea shells that are always part of my summery decor, how I love them!

    Thanks Nita, for the inspiration!

  10. I agree, clouded and antiqued is best. SO much eye candy in all these images. I want closer looks at all of it. Is that piece of furniture covered in shells? Amazing!

  12. I like mirrored walls, especially in condominiums and apartments that only have light in the front and back. They make light bounce around rooms, and I think the antiqued mirrored walls are very elegant.

  14. I love the mirror on the mirror in your bathroom. I had a mirrored wall in my 1980's house, but you know how that looked. I love the old smoke mirror looks you have posted about!

  16. I just LOVE mirrored walls... well really mirrored EVERYTHING! Thanks for sharing these with me. I'm in the process of redoing my living room and my girlfriend suggested mirroring the box above the mantel. I liked the idea but was thinking more on the lines of an ornate Louis XV style mirror. Looking at your photos I'm thinking, why choose? I can do both!!!

  17. Just Beautiful!
My favorite is the first photo!
I love the look of it but it would depress me to see myself getting out of the bath! LOL!
    I mean ggggross! :)
I actually have lots of mirrors in my home...but they are all up higher so I don't see my big ole butt!
