Vintage Kitchen Renovation

I'd Like to Cook an Egg in the Nest Egg's Kitchen
I happened upon this kitchen renovation today and had to share.

This is the kitchen of Rachel Halvorson of

This was her kitchen before
and here are more after pics
I love the table used as an island.
Great light fixtures!
No comment on the cowhide rug. I'm not a fan of those...but other than that...
I love it.

  5. Love it! I'm thinking of painting my lower cabinets a dark charcoal. I like the hardware that she used on her cabinets. Yes, the light fixtures are beautiful. I'd hate to see that cowhide after you spill something on it. Yuk!
    Girl, do you ever sleep?

  6. See, I love the cowhide rug! Especially in a kitchen. I've been dying to get one, but Andrew HATE 'em.

I'm not a fan of that table. I think it's sort of odd, and not in a good way. Forced.

The lighting fixtures, are FABULOUS, though, and the colors of the room work really well.

  7. Kelly-
I don't like the cowhide rug in that room or any room because its a dead animal on the floor. Its the same as if they skinned one of our dogs and made a rug out of it. I just can't stand the thought of it. I've known several cows personally in my life and prefer them with their skin on.

I took photos of an even better kitchen yesterday in my neighborhood that I'll be showing this week.

I loved the table. That is what made me stop and look. Although it's a little small and I'd put it on casters to make it taller or figure out someway to make it taller.

See....I think the cowhide rug looks forced....and I've never seen anything like those fixtures. Love em.

Hope your kitchen reno is going well.

  10. I don't know if anyone cares about Feng Shui but they say not to have dried flowers, because they are dead and it's bad energy.
Imagine the "energy" coming from that rug!

  11. Oh...my...exactly right. I have heard that about dried flowers and Feng Shui. Surely Feng Shui was does not endorse dead animals in decor.

  12. I'm still learning, but...
it even says no to "cut" flowers, because they are in the "process" of dying. So I'd say that cowhide would be a big NO.
(personally I would like some fresh cut flowers in a beautiful vase but they would never survive the cat!)
