Candy Colored Christmas
I adore putz houses for Christmas.
I have quit a few both old and new.
They used to be bought for a couple of dollars.
Which is when most of my collection was amassed.
New vintage looking ones can be quite ornate.
I just got two new houses from my Mom.
She bought them at Target.
This is them....
Cute, aren't they? I'll be adding details to them to make them even better.
So that they will be as cute as these I've gathered off Pinterest.
I had bought one several years ago also from Target and totally
remade it last year after Christmas.
I added decorations, cotton batting and more snow glitter.
I'll show it soon.
That is the plan for the two new ones too.
Aren't all of these so gorgeous?
true confections
They look made of candy with frosting and sprinkled in sparkling snow sugar.
I truly cannot resist them.
Love the colors of this one.
So.....
Still my decorations are not up.
I have to say I am pretty discouraged.
All I ever want for Christmas is to just put up my decorations and watch old Christmas movies and
listen to my favorite Christmas CDs.
Last year I was too sad....
and this year....
too many things keep coming up.
Things I have to go do...people I have to help or work stuff.
I have Sunday off...first day off in quite awhile and
I am not telling anyone that I am off from work.
If anyone asks...I am at work.
Shhhhhh....don't tell.
I want to spend the day just doing Christmas at my house.
Put up my stuff and make some crafts without being interrupted.
Take some time for yourself, Nita - you deserve it! I love those houses, too. Wish I had some - maybe I could buy some new ones and vintage them up??
ReplyDeleteHi Nita! Oh, you lock your doors and turn the phone off and do what you want to do! Now the little putz houses are just wonderful. I fell in love with them this time last year and went online and found all kinds of patterns and started this summer making my own. I filled my little breakfast room hutch with them this year. I even made some teeny little ones without glitter and put them in my dining room china cabinet. Hope you'll pop over and see them.
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
So pretty! Hope you get that day to yourself to "putz" around and decorate!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Candy plus Christmas. Can it get any better? :-)
ReplyDeleteNita, You've taught me something new today! I've never heard of Putz-houses, nor have I seen any, so I googled 'em to find out what I've been missing. Apparently they come out of the Pennsylvania Dutch traditon and are enjoying renewed popularity. It's easy to see why - they are simply lovely, and remind me of sugar plum candies. Enjoy your time off - I'm sure your puppies will love having you home to play with them and cater to their every whim.
ReplyDeleteThat's not asking much at all and you certainly deserve a day to yourself to do whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteI want ALL of the houses you featured today!
Have a fabulous decorating day!!!
Such a pretty post.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to try to make one of my own!
Thanks for this lovely escape.
(I needed something nice to look at after hearing the horrible event of the day. What is this world coming to? My head hurts just thinking about it. It's all so senseless and my heart aches for the parents of those poor little innocent kids....and at Christmas time too. So utterly tragic.)
I love those putz houses. They are adorable. Looking forward to seeing your houses and other decor. Enjoy your decorating day!
ReplyDeleteNo matter what I think you should stay home and decorate your heart out! I love those houses and I only have one that I bought last year. ...didn't know they were called putz houses! They are gorgeous! Take care! Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteLove all houses, it's hard to choose one.

So pretty! One of my favorite Christmas things too!!! I saw some I loved this month but couldn't spend the $$$ ... what a good idea to embellish a less expensive one!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can enjoy your Sunday doing only the things that delight you!!!

I love putz houses too!! I enjoy setting up different scenes with them. You have some great ones. Take Sunday for yourself, because selfishly I can't wait to see what you do with them. While I'm working on mine, I'll think of you having so much fun too.

I loved seeing these houses! Have to admit, my colors are traditionally vintage red and white, but these were so charming, I was wondering if I need a theme departure next Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm just a random blog reader and don't know you personally, but it seems you do SO much for others. Don't feel guilty for putting yourself first on your list once in awhile. It will refresh and renew you.
Make and take the time to make your decorating, movie-watching dreams come true! Blessings to you!

I am sorry you have been sad and that things keep happening! I hope you will just take a bit of time to wind down, relax and decorate, decorate, decorate! I adore these houses and must find more!

I just read your last two paragraphs to my husband and he said, "Sounds like you two could be friends..." I hope so. :) Your putz collection is the most beautiful i've ever seen. I am so envious! I'd never thought about re-doing the Target houses with authentic vintage. Brilliant! My dining table is covered with vintage Christmas items because I'm still crafting when I should be doing anything else! Ha! Merry Christmas, Sweetie!
