Fun Little Cottage in Dallas
built 1940
This simple little cottage is full of surprises inside.
I'm sure the person who decorated this home is a thrifter.
So many of the furnishings are unusual in a thrifted funky way.
Like that coffee table? I've never seen anything like it.
I would never buy it and yet is really works in this room.
Touches of pink throughout. I think that's a Saarenin table covered with a lace tablecloth.
70's style chandelier overhead. Another thing I would never buy but it looks great here.
Here you can see the wallpaper - pink and grey.
Everything in this home is not what you would expect.
I love the group of plants at the kitchen window.
They kept the funny passthrough to the other room...and it works here because it suits the character of this house.
Oh...I see a wall came down. I am not a fan of that. But it goes with the style created in this home.
Pretty asian influenced console mixed with grecian inspired lamps.
I'm sure those chairs must be thrift store finds. Interesting portrait on the wall.
I adore the mirror and console in the distance. I'd like to see more of that.
Fun little bathroom...a little bland for this house...I think.
Fun wallpaper in the bedroom.
Another thrift store find, I imagine is that melon colored velvet love seat at
the foot of the bed.
Just a crazy mix of things in this house that makes it so joyful.
What about this wallpaper? Gibson girls! Who would have ever thought?
And it looks good. This is obviously a girl's home.
Back screened porch keeps the same decorating sensibility.
A nice place for a soak.
And a lovely garden path.

What do you think about how this home is decorated?
It's not my style at all...but I do really like it that this person has a clear view point
and went with it all the way through.
It's a home I'd like to hang out in for sure.
Have a lovely Sunday!
Not my style either but it's pretty. You must be right about the thrifting part...they have some unusual accessories. Overall though it's very nice. Love the pink!
ReplyDeleteOh this house is gorgeous! I'd love to live here!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you, there are many items here that I would never look twice at, but she made it all work. It's fantastic! This home is in a fun, kind of quirky neighborhood. A friend of mine lives on the next block and her home has some of the same quirky details. This is a wonderful example of how to mix eclectic decor items and make them look cohesive.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Nita- That is not my style but it works in that space. I'll bet the owners have a delightful personality and it comes through in their home. Have a wonderful Sunday- xo Diana

ReplyDeleteThe modern and past choise of interiors somehow it looks fabulous in this place, they did a fun looking place and yet there are so many things, like you mention, that I wouldn't even contenplate putting in my house, lol. Thanks for sharing, I loved it!

What a great eye this person has for putting things together. Really took some risks with their furniture choices but it pays off by creating their own style.
ReplyDeleteKind of girly but I love it. It's got to be a decorator. It's very well done.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely eclectic! What a mix!? It all sort of worked though. Well, most of it anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteso cute!!!! love it.
