Oh... HGTV....Canada
I came across these photos of the kitchen from Sarah's House on the
HGTV Canada website the other day.
This kitchen is from season four of Sarah's house.
I haven't seen these episodes, have you?
I've seen the other seasons but not this one.
Of course Sarah Richardson is the designer and her homes are always so
brilliantly put together.
Anyway...just look at this kitchen.
Yes, it's gorgeous.
I've been doing a little project in my kitchen which I mentioned like last week.
But I have not been able to finish even though it's just a little one.
I had Easter decor to do which didn't happen just like my St. Patrick's Day didn't and
my Valentine's didn't.
I want to get back to doing and sharing here on my blog.
I just feel like lately I've been going around in circles and not getting anywhere
and not achieving anything.
And not being properly compensated for giving up my life either.
I was spending a lot of time at a place I was miserable to be.
And on Saturday I decided something had to change in my life or a year from now
I would still be miserable and still swimming in circles.
So....I quit the Target job!
I don't even want to shop there any more.
Hate to say it's just ruined for me.
I had no intention to quit but I had a review on Thursday night and after receiving a 6 cent
per hour raise...I wondered what the heck I was doing.
So I called Pier 1 and asked for more hours and promptly got them which is by no
means money enough to live on but neither was Target and I was there ALL the time.
I'm regrouping and soon will announce that I'll be doing some money making ventures
which I'll share here.
My future is very iffy...but it has to be better than it's been the last five months.
I just have to make my own future and start right now.
Wish me luck!
Sending luck, prayers, and positive thoughts your way!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this kitchen...the backsplash and lanterns are *to die for* :D
xo,
RJ
Sending good wishes your way! I'm sure you feel a sense of relief. Looking forward to seeing your new ventures.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to see some new pictures of the weenies. I'm having withdrawal. :o)
Well done Nita for having the courage to take a leap of faith and leave! I know myself that there's nothing worse than a soul destroying job. You dread walking into work on a morning and that is not good.
ReplyDeleteThere is certainly something better waiting out there for a woman of your talents and you have cleared a space for it now. I know it will be scary for a little while but you just watch as an opportunity will present itself to you. Sending hugs, Sally xx
I am with you 100% Nita! You will accomplish your goals, I am sure of it! Of course I think you should be a writer and compile a book of your hilarious tales. STart with the fly up the nose story!! I laughed for days on that one...and so many great ones about your dad~you have many gifts Nita. Looking forward to seeing your house projects, I have missed them.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I was afraid you were over doing it with both jobs. I know you didn't have a choice. I hope your new plans will work out. (((((HUGS))))
ReplyDeleteBest of luck...I think you did the right thing!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought you were far too talented to be working there. Nothing wrong with it at all. I've worked in retail myself and it helps pay the bills. But it has served its purpose for you. Time to move on. No doubt you will succeed in your new venture! I'm rooting for ya!
ReplyDeletePutting you in my thoughts for better times coming your way!
ReplyDeleteIt takes bravery to make changes in ones life, and it is a leap of faith for sure. You obviously have many talents and gifts, go with your heart!

Best of luck in your plans succeeding. Nothing like retail to suck the life right out of you. My time as a plant merchandiser at big box's taught me that if something goes wrong it is your fault and if something goes right it ISN'T to your credit. There is also no room for creativity which is so difficult for people like us. Hang in there - sending you positive vibes.

i hope everything works out for you. you have to do what is best for you. sending hugs and prayers to you !!!
ReplyDeleteyou should be their display manager.
hugs JoAnn
OMG Nita, you are definitely taking control of your future. Good for you. I can't wait to see what you are planning.
ReplyDeleteTraci
Congratulations. I know it's hard to make those decisions, but I bet you felt a huge load lift off of your shoulders when you said good bye to Target! Sometimes we really need to listen to what our heart tells us. You'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Nita for taking stock and taking charge. The kitchen is wonderful, I like those lanterns and the color scheme.
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck. I lost my teaching position in 2010 when cuts were made to the curriculum, but found a job teaching adult education. Now they are cutting all adult education. I decided take a chance and do something that I have always wanted to do. Life is too short and I have always wanted to design gardens and start a floral design business. I already have a couple of parties to design for this month, five weddings this summer, and I am not even out of work until June! I am optimistic, so good for you and do more of what you love.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Nita! You're totally doing the right thing. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteI love Sarah's House. She seems very down to earth, too. I enjoy her show. I haven't seen this kitchen yet. It's fab, thanks for sharing!
Good luck to you! Hope now you'll have more time to work on your projects. Can't wait to see more of your creativity!
You go Nita!! Don't you just feel great???!! ... you are a talented lady and will go as far as you dream ... I'm sure of it.

Nita, every time I'd go in Target I'd think of you toiling behind that cash register. I'm glad you quit. Life is short. I'm scared about money too, but trying to give the Etsy shop a go. Life is just fragile, isn't it? For us women our age, even more so, because we're too young to retire and too old for anyone to want to take a chance on us. I can't wait to hear what you've come up with!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Nita--Glad to see you get away from Target and can't wait to see what your next adventure will be. I'm sure whatever it is you'll be wildly successful. Sending good thoughts your way. Jana in Texas
ReplyDeleteLots of luck to you, dear lady, we just cannot waste our lives doing something that makes us miserable. So, I think you were right to quit.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Sarah Richardson's kitchen is gorgeous, she is one of our brilliant stars here in Canada.
Hugs, Cindy
Years ago after a review and lots of praise about the many millions I had brought in for the company during my years there, they gave me a dime raise. I told them that next time I'd rather they just slap me in the face as hard as they could because giving me a dime was the same thing. Two weeks later I had a new job and quit.
ReplyDeleteSo I TOTALLY get how the 6 cents could push you off the fence.
I have COMPLETE faith in you. You know I think you are Marvelous and Fabulous and capable of creating the Magical life you deserve.
XOXO - Cindi
Change is good, and if it doesn't feel right, it isn't right. Everything happens for a reason, and good will come out of your decision. You have a talent that needs to shine; let that need lead you.
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK NITA!
ReplyDeleteMany good thoughts your way!
Here in Vegas the enconomy is still stuck in reverse....
Is Sara that lady with the little assistant with the thick black rimmed glasses?
Nita, I'm rooting for you! It is still a very difficult economy for a great many people, unfortunately you are not alone. Will be waiting to hear about your next ventures, hope they will led you to a happier future. Wishing success and a bright, bright future, Laura
ReplyDeleteHi Nita, I have been reading your blogs for some time and I really enjoy them. I am disappointed when they don't appear. I suppose that sometimes you just aren't in the mood to talk......that is pretty normal, I reckon. I am really pleased and happy that you have left a job that isn't satisfying. You are a talented woman. Now that your head is clear of that place other creative thoughts will emerge. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great kitchen. I love the taupey color of the island.
ReplyDeleteI know you have a lot of great creative skills. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to do and we're all happy to help spread the news.
I've only been following your blog for a short time, but I'm so happy for you to have made such a brave decision. You're an inspiration to take control of lives we have. I hope it all works out because you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteNita -- you are a brave and wonderful woman. With lots of supporters around the country (and, I'm guessingaround the world). I'm hoping your next chapters fuels your passions and fills your pocketbook.
ReplyDeleteI wish you lots of luck!!! It is so difficult to take a plunge. Well it is for me. I notice I've changed over the years without even realizing it. I've made some changes too after just thinking about it for a long time. So far my plunge is a good thing! I wish the best for you. Your very talented I have no doubt you'll do well.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Sending lots of good wishes and prayers for you to be blessed no matter what you do! YOu are a very smart lady, and I am sure you will go in the direction you are meant to. Follow your dreams...
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Life is too short not to be happy. Good luck.
