Open House Sunday

First, some green houses in honor of St. Patrick's Day which slid right past me
because I had to work.
These houses covered in vines are magical and mysterious.
Very hard to maintain, I would think.
Except for that second one that is abandoned.
I was once in a very cute and nice little historic bungalow whose front window was absolutely
covered in english ivy.
On the outside the home was perfectly manicured except for that ivy
and inside it was decorated lovingly.
I wondered why would they let the vines cover the front window?
Once inside I understood.
From the inside looking out...the ivy created the perfect green curtains for the room.
A lovely live green drape to hide the street and passing neighbors.
It was mad but wonderful.

Now on to this week's house.

  1. The outside isn't much to look at, but the inside--especially that staircase--is gorgeous! The kitchen seems a little more "retro" than the rest of the home. But I love the generous size of all those bedrooms!

  4. WOW.
    I love it! So spacious,
    and I adore the exterior.

The second "green" house photo reminds me of my own...well it did, I just spent the whole weekend turning THAT around!
Sorry you had to work St. Paddy's.
But on the positive side, at least you don't wake up with the "green" flu!

  5. I don't know. The place seems a little cold to me. Not cozy at all. I guess I just need a smaller home. :) Kit

  6. Well I think that house felt unlived in and very staged. I liked the dining room, but not so much the rest of it. I did like hearing the story of the vine covered house! Ive been a busy girl too Nita, not much time to smell the roses, we gotta do that you know.

  7. Loved your green houses, Nita! I think I would love living in a house where the ivy provides a nice curtain from the world.
Now that house for sale is a different story. It felt cold and had no personality at all. Supposedly that's what you want to achieve when selling a house, but I personally think doing that makes one house look much like the next.
And what is the deal with that kitchen floor?? Made me dizzy.

  9. I love that house. It does look picture perfectly staged but I like the colors and furnishings.
Hope you are not working too hard!
    Take care.
