In Carmel, California
built 1992
Due to lack of good houses to show in these parts....I'm showing a cottage in Carmel, California this fine Sunday.
Built in 1992 but great pains were taken to make it appear to be a vintage cottage.
That's quite a reach for a good book.
This is a bit rustic for my taste and wow I hate what they did to that dishwasher.
I still know its a dishwasher, don't you? They aren't fooling anybody.
I believe appliances should look like appliances...it's ok...it's a kitchen.
Ok, this bathroom looks like 1992.
Kind of love that whitewashed knotty pine.
Three stories on the backside. Very quaint.

I love this home. It is so "storybook" and cozy. It is a bit strange looking at the back of it. But I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh..."This bathroom looks like 1992." It does indeed!
ReplyDeleteMorning...
ReplyDeleteI know this house with it's eyebrow roof and amazing look. You see, I was born and raised in Carmel..there are sooo many beautiful houses there, it's a feast for the eyes. Each one quite different from the next. I use to spend hours just driving up and down the streets scoping out all of them...kinda stalking, isn't it? We live about a half hour from Carmel...I try to get there as much as I can...it calls me. Such fond memories... My brother was a peace officer there for 30 years...the stories he told. Carmel is the best! If you ever get there, give me a halla....we can do lunch. Have a fantastic day.

I love the doors in that house. And the arched windows. Did you see the pantry door (or some closet door) int he kitchen eating area? It is fabulous! I love looking at these storybook houses, but somehow the interiors are always a bit disappointing, because it is real life~not a fantasy inside.
ReplyDeleteThe interior of this home is gorgeous. I love the kitchen and its rustic cabinets and rock floor. And I am crazy about all the beams in this house.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great open house.
Thanks,
Traci
I Love, Love the exterior...as for interior the only room I like is the blue bedroom. These houses are true treasures. I think there is a group of people who own them and have form some sort of association. thanks for showing us..Huge JoAnn
ReplyDeleteΙ love the outdoors, the kitchen and the bedroom! It's a great house!
ReplyDelete...i know what you mean about appiances being appliances...that is exactly how i feel about toliets...i don't want anything touching a toliet...and i use to feel that way about old console televisions...nothing should ever have been on top of them...loved the storybook house...and the storybook garden...enjoy your blog...
ReplyDeleteI might not be as hard on the kitchen as you, I like it especially those rounded closet? doors, maybe not so thrilled with the bathtub color but would put up with it to live in Carmel!!! But what I'm thinking is how did they do that white wash on the pine? I have a family room of log siding that I want gone, but maybe I would like it if it was bright and happy like that.

I love it, I want it!!! It's perfect in every way!!!

I love Carmel...we just got back from our coastal trip. Always have to go and shop on Ocean Ave. Love the style of the Carmel Comstock Cottages. Wish they weren't so expensive!! Thanks for sharing..I always enjoy a trip to Carmel!

I stayed in Carmel once in my twenties -- had given a presentation in San Diego then rented a car and drove up to San Francisco. Loved the charm of the town -- thanks for the memories, Nita!
ReplyDeleteI love Carmel, and I think I could put up with that bathroom to live in that cute house!
ReplyDeleteYou post pictures of a home then make snide remarks about it! Really, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteI love this one! Love the beams and the arch doorways. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a grand evening. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeleteI love the exterior more than the interior. Just not my cup of tea but goes to show how too much of a personal touch can sway a buyer both ways. I like your open houses. Just discovered them
